Please keep Liane and the others injured in your thoughts and prayers. She is a great young lady and just completed a stellar career at Purdue.
BROOKSTON, Indiana -- Four women were injured, one critically, when a car hit a utility pole west of Brookston Friday night.

According to Indiana State Police, a 2002 Oldsmobile passenger car going north on White County Road 500 West left the road and struck a utility pole near Indiana 18 around 10:39 p.m. Friday.

Police said Liane M. Horiuchi, 23, of Hawaii, suffered head injuries and was airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where she was listed in critical condition Saturday night. Attempts to obtain a condition update in the evening were unsuccessful.

Karina M. Venis, 20, of West Lafayette, was taken to Clarian Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, where she was listed in good condition Saturday night.

Kayla Yates, 20, of Delphi, was taken to St. Elizabeth East hospital with minor head injuries, police said. Her condition was not available.

Ashley R. Poe, 19, of West Lafayette, was treated at the scene, police said.

It was unclear who was driving the car, police said. However, drugs or alcohol were not believed to be factors in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.

Oh my sweet baby girl Liane......I'm calling all of God's arsenal to be at your side at this time.  I extend the loving prayers to all involved and the families too.
You are a bright shining light honey, and we put our loving thoughts out there in the ethers, so that you may be well, and come back to us.
The Griffin family has a beautiful picture of you Liane, w/all your lei's and money necklaces, and a happy smile on your face in our Greenhouse w/a healing crystal circle all around it, so that our thoughts, prayers and love come to you ten fold, and help to make you strong again.
We love you Liane, please be well & strong, and we will be w/you always even at a distance.
If we all just stop and send our loving thoughts & prayers for but a moment, we can increase the prayer strength to her, andall involved.

Glad the young lady is doing better. I will never understand why we can't get these kids to wear seatbelts.

My daughter's last update was something to the effect that Liane came out of the coma and had improved enough for her mom to take her home to Hawaii.

No way you can not embrace the courage exhibited by her. No question that being a competitive athlete, spurs these women on.

If you have not learned from your mistakes, you are doomed to repeat them! Lifelong RTRer.

Thank you for the update. I'm glad she got to see her late Grandma but happy she didn't have to stay. Even though she may not get to play softball at the highest level again, I'm sure she will live the rest of her life as a miracle.
