Rivera said it. He'll pitch whatever it is 2 or 3 or 4 innings.
I get a cheesesteak everytime I'm down there. Once or twice a month considering my folks live down there. __________________ Italian by ancestry, American by birth, but WILDCAT by the grace of God. |

I was incorrect....Yankees in 6.....CC, Pettite & the DH were the keys to the Yankee success. If there had been a game 7, it would have been interesting as the yankees were running short of outfielders with the injuries to Cabrera & Damon. __________________ 3's Dad |

Taking my Dad and my 11 yr old Godson to the Parade on Friday. The kid will skip school for this. 9 years was a long time coming. This one was definitely for The Boss George Steinbrenner. If other owners were as passionate about winning as he and his family are then Baseball would be great. But other owners like Carl Pohlad of Minnesota and David Glass (former CEO Wal-Mart) of Kansas City don't like to spend money and just pocket the Revenue Sharing money that MLB gives them. Don't hate the Yankees for spending money because they are playing within the rules. Now the planning for 2010 starts for both NY and Philadelphia and for my 2010 Fantasy Baseball Team. __________________ Italian by ancestry, American by birth, but WILDCAT by the grace of God. |

I don't care. You probably root for some team whose cheap-ass owners pocket the revenue sharing money instead of putting it back in the team and will always be content being doormats in Major League Baseball. You can hate Steinbrenner all you want. He does plenty with his money out there to do good for people but you'd never know it because it's not spoken about. __________________ Italian by ancestry, American by birth, but WILDCAT by the grace of God. |

Reply with quote | #38 | Would like to know how many of West Coasters watched all the games. I watched maybe a total of 5 innings for the total series and even those few were booorrring. |

Reply with quote | #39 | Hammer - You become bored a lot. Maybe the reason is in your mirror. An international person like yourself should have little trouble finding excitement in life.
PS - May I suggest any novel by Nelson DeMille? Perhaps "Gold Coast", a great one. __________________ Frank Bolton - Understanding of perspective, and mutual respect are the cornerstones of good discussion. |

Reply with quote | #41 | Hammer - I know the book well, but I had no idea that your relative wrote it. That Middle East is a troubled place. My base roots introduction to the contemporary Middle East was the autobiography of "Stormin" Norman Schwarchkoff. He had lived there as a boy and understood the cultures. Later he describes his and others' roles in the Gulf War. The book gave me insight into what I had supposed to be true. I had done research for a major paper years before on "The Arab-Israeli" conflict, but even that was more past history than present turmoil.
PS - Any time a nation state is created ignoring tribal or theocratic or cultural allegiances, there is huge trouble, sometimes genocide. Even the USA had to make "The Great Compromise" to determine the relationship between states (former colonies) and the federal government. __________________ Frank Bolton - Understanding of perspective, and mutual respect are the cornerstones of good discussion. |

PGP, tell us about the parade. How did it compare to the one down Broad Street? I heard the Phanatics put on a pretty good one LY - my DD's office (Fortune 500) shut down and hit the street. Did NY have similar enthusiasm for, ho hum, #27? __________________ College baseball: Everyone hits, everyone scores. It's the American Way! |

Reply with quote | #44 | Graybeard - I took my Dad and my 11 year old Godson. Nobody but nobody throws a Parade like NY City. My Dad kept saying how it took him back to his youth when Stengel's Yanks were winning 5 straight World Series. Last Year's Phillies Parade down Broad Street was great as was the Ballpark Celebration but it can't compare to NY at all. This Parade was as great as 1996, 1998, 1999 & 2000. We saw Yogi Berra and Reggie Jackson but missing from this fanfare was Whitey Ford. One gentleman I wish would have been there was a player from those 5 straight titles - #42 Second Baseman Gerald Francis Coleman Lt. Col. USMC (Ret.). I could have listened to Jerry Coleman's stories all day at the Parade. He actually told me once when I asked him who threw the first punch at Billy Martin's Birthday Party at the old Copacabana that "you're too young to know the answer". Vintage Jerry Coleman. __________________ Italian by ancestry, American by birth, but WILDCAT by the grace of God. |
