Thank you it does sound like a very similar situation although my daughter is younger. It seems like a process that is very personal and I am just happy that my daughter has an ability along with academics to help her get a leg up because I certainly do not want to remortgage or make the process a ugly one. That is why people sharing like this is so very important and once we go through it we can help pay it forward as LMUfan said.Good luck in your quest. Please let me know how things go in the spring.

Your daughters travel team can succeed at getting exposure by playing in the right tourneys.

We have been fighting through this ourselves.  My DD is on a team she likes. She is a Jr in HS.  This past summer, I was pushing to leave for a Gold team to increase her exposure.  She convinced me to let her stay put for Fall, and we'd reevalauate in the spring.  So far, her college choices have not been impacted.  She is not, however, trying to playing the PAC-10 or points west.

We are, though, struggling a bit to get her teammates to commit to playing a few tourneys that involve some travel.  We may or may not pull that off.

So, it is a difficult and personal decision to leave a team.  At age 14, you have some time to think it through.  In the meantime, look at some schools she is interested in.  On the online questionnaires, many schools now have a checklist of recruiting tourneys they attend.  Try to get to some of those, and let the coaches know you will be there.  They will come look at her if she shows interest in them.

As we are finding out, this takes work to get noticed.

Been gone for awhile, but saw today.  I would recommend that you get in touch with the people who run OnDeck Softball.  They are very influential people in the sport and if your daughter is able to be evaluated by them, they can help her.  I know they helped Maddy Coon and several other East Coast players, and they have helped many San Diego girls.  If you can get invited to their camps, then it is as close as you can get to a ticket to college offers.  They probably would be a great resource for you.

Been off for awhile too.

I just want to thank everyone for your responses for someone who is just starting this process and looking to the future for our only child. We are blue collar people who have some college education but not what we want for our daughter as we all want better for our children

Thank you again everyone!

Hope
