As for those other "Tim Tebows" out there, I'd love to hear about them. The world's goodness often escapes us as it isn't as exciting as evil or nastiness. Have a good Thanksgiving.

Joiseyguy,
there are plenty of as you call them "Tim Tebows" out there.  That is the beautiful part of our country, those out there helping others. Most people do it under the radar. I know a softball player that upon graduation will be going in the Peace Corp, with her parent's blessing. (her mother raised her right) why is she doing that, the same reason she spends her freetime on weekends volunteering with kids teaching them some basic softball skills at a rec league field down the road from her University. Her coach doesn't even know.  Does anyone outside of her mother know about it... no

Come on Frank the eternal optimist in you knows that there are plenty of good hearted "helpers" out there.

Groupies hit me the same way.  I never understood those music fans passing out/crying just by seeing a certain entertainer.  The same for a college kid playing football.
Frank have a Happy Thanksgiving.  I enjoy our discussions.

Wanabe - Thank you for the article. I so admire those who can face and overcome disadvantages in their lives. After reading the statistics about paralysis, I wonder about the meaning of football. I played through high school and college, and one year of minor league pro. I coached high school football. Yet, when I hear of these paralyzing injuries and life altering injuries, I wonder if it's all worth it, and whether the Europeans have the right idea about sporting events. More and more I think about soccer, tennis, golf, basketball, baseball, and track and field as outlets for our youth that don't contain (at least as much) the potentially life damaging injuries of football. I know this is heresy in our culture, but given risk and reward, I just wonder. Again, thanks !
PS - My 83 year old friend (great coach and former athlete) and I talk a lot on the telephone, and we have discussed what I just wrote. We talk about our football injuries that now keep us off the golf course and the tennis court. Then one of us will say, "Oh yeah, but we were really tough, weren't we?" and then we both laugh.

I think that's funny, makes the rivalry fun. This makes your post even funnier.

It is kinda funny, and slightly odd that things like this don't happen more often between the two.  And do you think the Bruin Security thing will continue?
