Georgetown softball is a complete joke and train wreck. Almost the entire team told the AD over the summer about horrible abuse, bullying, etc. by the HC and wanted her replaced. The HC has never had a winning season in FIFTEEN YEARS. The HC threatened the players if they tell the truth. They fired all the assistants to save her job. After a bogus “investigation” (They never interviewed the players or parents of course) They ignored all of the abuse and told the team that the HC would make “incremental changes” to her approach. What a joke. The AD also told parents who complained about the HC that the university didn’t support softball financially and so doesn’t expect to ever have a winning team so the history of losing, because the players hate the coach, isn’t enough reason to fire her. Why would anyone go to a team with a coach who can’t coach and an AD who doesn’t care about the players and ignores MANY reports of abusive acts?

Anybody who thinks about coaching or playing at Georgetown should talk the only senior who graduated last year and other former players. They should ask the AD about the MANY complaints about the HC. Many players cry before every team event because they hate playing for the HC.

See what I miss by skimming insight from “new” posters. Lol
There is no sewer quite like the MD thread sewer. So obsessed they even find ways to complain when they get a top recruit.. I better tread lightly though. Terp knows things. I wonder if our org has an HR department

So let me get this straight, when you decided to join a program that has a Coach with an overall record of 257 wins and 517 losses and has had ONE winning season in 13 years you thought it would be a great experience?  All they do is lose. Great school but did you think it was going to turn around with the same person leading the program?

I know a parent whose daughter played at Georgetown a few years back. All of the parents were frustrated and dismayed at what went on there. The players come and go and the results are the same. I don't want to hear the money issue. Look at their schedule, they travel as well as most teams. I'm sure they get a fair share of scholarships given Title IX. The Head Coach is not a go getter and they need someone who can recruit and coach. It would be fertile ground for someone very good. She can't do the job and the results will stay the same until she is replaced.

That’s so true PlayersCoach. These recruits and parents need to actually look at the coaches record and history before they agree to go to a program. The Hoyas have always been a losing program. They are also a private university so there is zero motivation for them to change their coach!

No player worth their recruiting goes to a school that plays at a park down the street.  THAT is so 80's.

I remember when Maryland was winning early in this decade that there was 3 local teams that they could always get a guaranteed sweep going against. Those 3 schools were Georgetown, George Washington and Howard. It just seems like these 3 programs have always been at the bottom for many reasons but it looks like lately that GW is turning things around!

GW did turn it around. They hired a male coach who they just fired after their best season ever. Howard just fired their coach. GW would kick the you know what out of Maryland today.

Like I mentioned before, as a parent of a former Georgetown player, we did not go to this school with exceptionally high hopes for the softball program.  But my kid also didn't expect to get crapped on the entire time she was on the team. Not only was there blatant favoritism but the head coach has subpar coaching skills.  Most girls that make it to college ball know the difference between good and bad coaching skills and they know what they're dealing with. And this HC is bad. A good coach could have at least given them a chance to be a little more competitive.   I believe the program has had only 1 year where a complete incoming class made it the 4 years.  But my kid really enjoyed the academic setting and she wouldn't trade that for anything.  So i guess it really is important to make sure the kid likes the school in case softball is a bust.

To have only one senior on the team says it all. It's not a program, it's a bookmark for an athletic department that needs so many women sports. She couldn't coach her way out of a wet paper bag.

Upsets happen in these early non conference tourneys that open the season. The big teams sometimes ignore the lesser teams and just take a loss. Maryland beat Florida at their place a few years ago when they was ranked number one in the nation!

Love how this has turned into a Maryland b1tch thread as well.

Keep up the good work.

I only used Maryland as an example how a lesser team could beat a great team or about Maryland beating the Hoyas in the past. Nobody is talking bad about them. Reading is fundamental!

Narrator, why not? Georgetown has been in the crapper longer than Maryland. They are two schools that should be able to recruit well and have two coaches that don't belong above travel ball. It's all not about Florida or Oklahoma and teams that everyone adores.

Just curious if I am remembering something correctly.  isn't the Georgetown coach the one who a few years ago indicated she would never recruit a player who wore a facemask?  If that's true, I wonder if she still has the same philosophy?
