I was going to ask pabar some questions that weren't specifically covered in his post but, upon second thought, I thought maybe I should allow his thread to stand alone without my interference.  Instead I'll ask these questions here and he, and anyone else, can feel free to answer if they so choose. I tend to think telling people where you stand is akin to talking points.  Responding to direct questions seems more illuminating.  JMHO.

Do you believe all illegal immigrants should be deported?

Do you believe it's important to be able to prove a person is born gay?

Do you believe the Constitution allows for the banning of semi-automatic weapons?  Or automatic weapons?

Do you believe privatizing Medicare is an idea worth pursuing?

Do you believe we should consider phasing out Social Security?

Would you have traded the five Gitmo prisoners for an honorable US soldier being held captive?

Would you have traded one of the five Gitmo prisoners for an honorable US soldier being held?

Do you believe a background check at a gun show can prevent a person from obtaining a weapon?

Dept of Education, Dept of Energy, and Foreign Aid all more than doubled in the Reagan years.  Was that a mistake by President Reagan?

Do you believe in decreasing the number of days one has to vote?

Do you believe Reagan broke the law with regards to Iran-Contra?

Do you believe a President should have a legal right to drone an American citizen on foreign soil who is fighting with an enemy against the US?

Do you think an individual born outside US territory should be eligible to become POTUS?

Do you believe President Obama was born in the US?

Do you believe President Obama is a Christian?

Do you believe all citizens have a right to preventive health care?

Do you believe the financial industry needs regulating by the Federal Government?

Do you believe State or Federal Government has the right to require a product sold or manufactured to meet certain minimum standards?

Do you believe gays should be allowed to serve in the military?

Do you believe President Obama hates this Country?

Just like Dewey, he makes a list of 20 questions and if you only answer 19 of them, he will never respond to any of YOUR questions again because you failed to answer his.
By the way Dewey the answer is 6 yes and 14 no. You can sort it out.

Now you answer one question:
If Obama loves America, why would he want to fundamentally transform it?

GrizzlyFan - He does love America and let me leave you with his full quote and context...

"Now, Mizzou, I just have two words for you tonight: five days. Five days. After decades of broken politics in Washington, and eight years of failed policies from George W. Bush, and 21 months of a campaign that's taken us from the rocky coast of Maine to the sunshine of California, we are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.

"In five days, you can turn the page on policies that put greed and irresponsibility on Wall Street before the hard work and sacrifice of folks on Main Street. In five days, you can choose policies that invest in our middle class, and create new jobs, and grow this economy, so that everyone has a chance to succeed, not just the CEO, but the secretary and janitor, not just the factory owner, but the men and women on the factory floor."

It's clear to me he wants to focus on the hard working middle class.  He wants everyone to have a fighting chance.  Now please, apply your yes and no answers where they belong.  Thanks.

pabar - I didn't doubt they were your true beliefs from the heart, although a couple towards the end did sound like they came from the less affectionate side of your heart.  Let me put it this way instead.  You laid out your position in many areas not unlike a candidate might do in an opening statement.  No problem at all doing so.  As I said, I tend to think the questions that follow such a statement/list tend to bring out the real meat and potatoes of a person's beliefs.

Edit:  I just pasted a couple of paragraphs showing what was in President Obama's heart.  You probably know just how well these feelings have been accepted.

Dewey - the POTUS has been making that same speech for 7 or 8 years now.  The problem is that he's all hat, and no cattle.

As for your list - like always, many issues are grey, but you try to set them up like they are black and white.  It isn't that easy.  You phrase it in a way, though, to make you like a mean old Grinchy pants.

Between Obamas energy policies (energy and utilities cost will necessarily sky rocket) , tax policies (corporate tax rates and EPA compliance so expensive that nobody can afford to hire), and Obamacare (millions of people lost their insurance and/or their rates went through the roof) , the middle class has taken it on the chin. Is that the fundamental transformation he was speaking of?
Or was it the crony capitalism that he was going to fundamentally transform. Solyndra ring a bell?
How about the $800 Billion porkulous bill that the majority went to pay off his union thugs? Was that the transformation you are talking about?
Maybe it was to fundamentally transform this country to a lawless dictatorship where the president picks out certain laws that he doesn't like and simply chooses not to enforce them.
Maybe it was to fundamentally transform this country to a nation without boarders.
Or was it to fundamentally transform America into a nation where anyone who speaks out against the regime is in fear that they will be punished by the IRS, Homeland Security, EPA, etc...?

mikec - I'd like to follow up on your post.  Please let me know which question you found to be grey, (most asked opinion rather than assuming the fact was clear).  I did my utmost to make this as straight-forward as possible.  Where did you find an unfair or leading question?  If you want to say yes or no and qualify it, please do.

Dewey I answered one question for you and you answered one for me.
Now, you answer one more for me and I will do the same.
Question:
Why did Obama send Susan Rice out to claim that the Benghazi attack was a spontaneous responce to a youtube video and Obama himself continued to make this claim several times as well for weeks?

Here is a little article that proves Obama was lying.

The terrorists who attacked the U.S. compound and CIA annex in Benghazi on September 11, 2012, took cellphones from State Department personnel during the deadly assault and contacted senior terrorist leaders about the success of the operation — and U.S. spy agencies overheard the conversations, Fox News reports.

Eric Stahl, who recently retired as a major in the U.S. Air Force, told Fox News that members of a CIA-trained Global Response Staff were “confused” by the Obama administration’s repeated claim that an anti-Muslim video sparked the terrorist attack because “they knew during the attack…who was doing the attacking.”

“Right after they left the consulate in Benghazi and went to the [CIA] safehouse, they were getting reports that cellphones, consulate cellphones, were being used to make calls to the attackers’ higher ups,” Stahl told Bret Baier.

The new report, which cites multiple sources, raises fresh questions regarding why the White House made the claim about the video even though it appears senior administration officials knew during the attack that terrorists were responsible.

Another U.S. official with “intimate details” of the Benghazi attack reportedly confirmed Stahl’s account. The source also said security teams received intelligence about the cellphone calls in real time.

Eric Stahl, who recently retired as a major in the U.S. Air Force, served as commander and pilot of the C-17 aircraft that was used to transport the corpses of the four casualties from the Benghazi attacks – then-U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens, information officer Sean Smith, and former Navy SEALs Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods – as well as the assault’s survivors from Tripoli to the safety of an American military base in Ramstein, Germany.

[…]

Major Stahl was never interviewed by the Accountability Review Board, the investigative panel convened, pursuant to statute, by then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as the official body reviewing all the circumstances surrounding the attacks and their aftermath. Many lawmakers and independent experts have criticized the thoroughness of the ARB, which also never interviewed Clinton nor the under secretary of State for management, Patrick Kennedy, a key figure in the decisions about security at the consulate in the period preceding the attack there.

In his interview on “Special Report,” Stahl made still other disclosures that add to the vast body of literature on Benghazi – sure to grow in the months ahead, as a select House committee prepares for a comprehensive probe of the affair, complete with subpoena power. Stahl said that when he deposited the traumatized passengers at Ramstein, the first individual to question the CIA security officers was not an FBI officer but by the senior State Department diplomat on the ground.

Stahl also said his crew could have traveled to Benghazi to potentially save the victims during the attack and transport them safely to Germany.

“We were on a 45-day deployment to Ramstein air base. And we were there basically to pick up priority missions, last-minute missions that needed to be accomplished,” he said, adding that it would have taken the team an “hour-and-a-half to get on the ground and three hours and fifteen minutes to get down there.”

“So we could’ve gone down there and gotten them easily,” he added.

Stahl also argued the U.S. military should have had a “little bit more of an alert posture on 9/11.”

GrizzlyFan - Which one did you answer?  Anyways, now you're messing up my thread.  Ask me yes and no questions and I'll answer.  Otherwise, you're wasting my time and I know you're going to bail on me anyway.

Susan Rice used the information provided in a CIA report and whether she volunteered to be the spokesman that day, I just don't know.  Now please go to the Benghazi thread if you want to post yet another article trying to convince me these points weren't given to Ms. Rice.  Now I've answered two and I can't see where you answered even one.

OK, I'll play along with Professor Dewey in his examination, and deflection study.

Do you believe all illegal immigrants should be deported?
Yes, immediately, if not sooner

Do you believe it's important to be able to prove a person is born gay?

No, I could care less who, or what you spoon with, that's your business. Enjoy yourself, and enjoy the related health issues that come with it.

Do you believe the Constitution allows for the banning of semi-automatic weapons?  Or automatic weapons?

No, the Constitution does not ban weapons.
Patriots during the Revolutionary war often provided, and donated their own private weapons, including cannon, to the war effort. Perhaps a history lesson is needed before asking such a question. You did study the American Revolution during your education didn't you? Why are you not cognizant of this fact?

Do you believe privatizing Medicare is an idea worth pursuing?

I think Medicaid as a program should be eliminated, not privatized.

Do you believe we should consider phasing out Social Security?

I think this PONZI scheme should never been enacted. It is a Bastardization of it's original intent to help widows, and orphans. What a scam.

Would you have traded the five Gitmo prisoners for an honorable US soldier being held captive?

No. After repeatedly torturing these bad boys, and their extended family, and their associates, and their extended families, and their money handlers, and their extended families, and collecting valuable intelligence, I would have dumped all these guys from a helicopter at 500 feet over rocky terrain. Might have an impact on their associates in the future.

Would you have traded one of the five Gitmo prisoners for an honorable US soldier being held?

No, I would not deal with these animals. I would have killed them, and all their known associates after extracting intelligence from them, so that we could kill more of them.

Do you believe a background check at a gun show can prevent a person from obtaining a weapon?

Licensed dealers already perform background checks at gun shows. Don't like individuals being able to sell weapons between private parties, or families? Please advise your Socialist representatives to go all in, and stake their reelection on that single point.

Dept of Education, Dept of Energy, and Foreign Aid all more than doubled in the Reagan years.  Was that a mistake by President Reagan?

YES

Do you believe in decreasing the number of days one has to vote?

I believe the home bound elderly, Service Members overseas, and those citizens that are out of the country should be provided an absentee ballot. Everyone else can go to their local polling place on election day, and dip their finger in indelible ink after voting. Works in fledgling Democracies whom we have given the lives of our nations youth upon the alter of freedom.

Do you believe Reagan broke the law with regards to Iran-Contra?

YES

Do you believe a President should have a legal right to drone an American citizen on foreign soil who is fighting with an enemy against the US?

YES

Do you think an individual born outside US territory should be eligible to become POTUS?

I believe a child born to a US citizen is an American, and eligible to be President.

Do you believe President Obama was born in the US?

I don't know, some of his relatives said otherwise. His Mother was said to be a US citizen, and His Father a Foreign National. Either way, His Mother was said to be a US Citizen regardless of his birthplace.

Do you believe President Obama is a Christian?

No, because of his upbringing in Muslim Nations, and His education in Muslim Schools as a child, I believe He is a Muslim. By religious law, he could not convert to Christianity. He has taken many opportunities to go on apology tours in Muslim nations, and embraced them as Brothers. What if He is a Muslim? Would that have changed your vote? I think not.

Do you believe all citizens have a right to preventive health care?

I don't ever remember seeing the right to preventative health care for the masses described in the Constitution. Did you?

Do you believe the financial industry needs regulating by the Federal Government?

I believe that through laws passed by the Legislative branch of our Government, Banking interest, and their adjoined interest in Financial firms, can be legally regulated by Laws passed by Congress.

Do you believe State or Federal Government has the right to require a product sold or manufactured to meet certain minimum standards?

I believe that State, and Federal Legislatures may attempt to control the purity of Foodstuffs, and Medications offered to the public for sale at a profit. How about the sale of Marijuana? Any QC required? Who decides the THC content? Who decides if the herb is too weak, too strong? What chemical additives and fertilizers are used during it's growth Who is doing the testing? That didn't seem to matter to Federal, and State regulators as Dems rushed to legalize the sale of Marijuana. It's all relative. Regulate this drug, but don't interfere with the production of the sacred cow of Libs.

Do you believe gays should be allowed to serve in the military?

I believe that don't ask don't tell was a far better policy. Why create division within an armed unit? You know who is Gay within your social, and work groups, why is it necessary for everyone to proclaim their sexual preference, and demand acceptance? Who gives a crap if you sleep with the same sex, or a farm animal. Nobody cares what you stick it in, or who sticks it in you. Passe. Get over yourself Gay America, nobody cares about you anymore, deal with it, or get a TV show on the LOGO network for you and your group of friends to celebrate each others Gayness. Enough, who cares? The Gay Card got played out with the Race Card. Enough.

Do you believe President Obama hates this Country?

I believe that as described in His own writings, Obama was taught to hate Colonialism, and with that, American Imperialism. He said He would attempt a drastic change in America, and He has not disappointed. Yes, He does not like traditional America, as proved by His efforts to transform it into something else.

Thanks woody.  I think I followed most of your answers and I commented on the ones I couldn't fully understand.  In any event, I appreciate your response and I think it's good for folks to know where people stand, particularly those who run for office.  If I'm going to have intelligent conversation with members, it certainly helps me to know where they stand.  As always, you don't mince words.

I thought we banned assault weapons once.  Was this found to be unconstitutional or was it ever tested?

I asked about Medicare and you responded to Medicaid. As for SS, I'll take that as a yes, let's phase it out.

The legislation pushing for a background check at all gun shows indicates to me that all transactions must not require a background check.  I didn't see your answer regarding these particular sales.

I assume you were unable to come to a personal decision whether you believe the President was born in Hawaii or not?  I understand you cannot know for certain but I thought you might be leaning one way or the other.

I'm assuming you're saying yes to the Government having a right to set minimum standards but should be limited to certain areas.

I think you are saying openly gay people should not serve in the military.

Dewey, I agree with virtually every answer that Woddy gave on your 20 questions. Now you owe me 19 more answers.

1)As you read in the article, Obama knew in real time who was attacking Benghazi, yet he himself continued for two weeks to blame the youtube video on national tv. Why did he continue to lie?

2)Do you believe that Obama first learned about the IRS targeting conservatives by watching the news on TV?

3)Do you believe that Obama first learned about Fast and Furious by watching the news on TV?

4)Do you believe that Obama first learned about the VA scandal by watching the news on TV?

5)Do you believe that Obama first learned about the Obamacare website problems by watching the news on TV?

6)Do you believe that Obama went to bed after hearing that our Ambassador was missing?

7)Do you believe that Obama continued the lie about the youtube video becasue he was campaigning on the lie that Al Qeda was no longer a threat?

8)Do you believe that Obama refuses to sign the Keystone Pipeline deal because Warren Buffett,a major Obama donor, owns the railway which is currently hauling that oil?

9)Do you believe that Obamcare has reduced health insurance premiums by $2500 per year as Obama promised?

10)Do you believe Obama was unaware that millions of people would lose their health insurance when Obamacare was enacted?

11)Do you believe that Obama kept his promise that he would not raise taxes on anyone making less than 200K per year? (Keep in mind Obamacare is a tax)

12)Do you believe that Obama sat in Reverand Wrights church for 20 years and never heard anything anti-American from the pulpit?

13)Do you believe Obama applied for financial aid in college as a foreign student?

14)Do you believe Obama has spent money to prevent anyone from seeing his college rrecords?

15)Do you believe that Obama believes in American exceptionalism?

16)Has the gap between rich and poor become bigger or smaller after 6 years of Obama?

17)Do you believe median income has gone up or down after 6 years of Obama?

18)Do you believe that more or less people are dependent on government after 6 years of Obama?

19)Do you believe that hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants are now pouring through our boarders (most of them children) because of Obama's refusal to enforce federal boarder laws?

I am not dewy and am not answering the question myself but chuck Hagel answered this question yesterday under oath, that Americans are at more risk with this release. He's a professional and if dewy's answer differs then you know you can't take him seriously

Grizzly - There are a few you haven't answered and couple I need clarified before I'll respond to all your questions...

1)  Do you believe it is unconstitutional to ban assault weapons?

2)  Do you believe Medicare should be privatized and/or be replaced with vouchers?

3)  Some transactions at gun shows evidently don't require background checks.  Should there be background checks for all transactions at gun shows?

4)  Do you think President Obama was born outside of this Country?

5)  Do you believe openly gay people should be allowed to serve in the military?

6)  Please clarify.  Are you now saying it doesn't matter that President Obama may have been born outside of US territory?

7)  Are you now saying your belief is the President has, or should have, a legal right to drone an American citizen on foreign soil who is fighting alongside our enemy?

8)  Do you believe our lengthy holding of detainees at Gitmo has increased the anger of our enemy, increased the recruitment of terrorists, and thus put Americans and American soldiers in greater danger?

Since this last question was an added one, it's only right I answer your question first.  I believe our soldiers are at very high risk of being captured as POW's and the release of these prisoners has not changed this high risk to any measurable degree.  I could be wrong and it could be slightly more but how high is high risk?  If the enemy is holding a gun on you and is given a second gun, are you more likely to be shot?  Since I need to provide a clear answer, I'll stick with my answer that the risk isn't greater knowing an argument that it's slightly more could be reasonably made.  What I do believe is any future soldiers caught and held in captivity may now be more likely to be kept alive as opposed to beheaded.

So the chatter from terrorists themselves is to pick up and kidnap more soldiers and Americans worldwide for ransom demands. Ignoring the terrorists and the terrorist experts dewy believes there is no greater risk after this swap. Now you know who you're talking to, clueless as obama. "GM is alive and al-queda is dead"

bhblue - Thanks for answering.  I didn't number these questions so I hope I got your answers straight.  Let me comment and you can reply if you wish.

Was our ban on assault weapons found to be unconstitutional or are you just assuming it would have been?

A buyer was refused a gun at a gun show and went to the hood to buy one.  During the transaction, he was killed and robbed.  Do you think the background check had anything to do with the fact he didn't succeed in his purchase?

I'm happy to find a Conservative who questions the reduction of voting days.  Kudos to you.

If you don't believe citizens have a right to preventive health care, do you believe they have a right to emergency care?

To confirm I have this right, you don't think our banking industry needs any Government rules placed on them?

Finally, do you want to chime in on my Gitmo question?  You've been more than cooperative if you want to skip on this one.

Again, thanks for answering.  I'm guessing you don't agree with my Rep. Cantor theory that too many Conservatives keep their specific positions vague for the reasons I previously described.  With that in mind, why do you think these simple yes/no questions have been ignored by so many members for so long?  What don't I understand regarding the refusal of others to specifically state their position on some of these issues?

Was our ban on assault weapons found to be unconstitutional or are you just assuming it would have been? I believe it should have been.  I can't find where the Constitution defines, nor limits, a "well regulated militia" or what arms could be kept or borne.

A buyer was refused a gun at a gun show and went to the hood to buy one.  During the transaction, he was killed and robbed.  Do you think the background check had anything to do with the fact he didn't succeed in his purchase?  His robber and killer certainly played a part.  Had it not been for that, the background check would have meant nothing.  BTW, I don't have a problem with background checks.  I have a problem with weapon registration.

I'm happy to find a Conservative who questions the reduction of voting days.  Kudos to you.  I'm not sure what the fuss is about.  Maybe somone can enlighten me.

If you don't believe citizens have a right to preventive health care, do you believe they have a right to emergency care?  Where in the Constitution are these guaranteed or are these "human" or "God-given" rights?

To confirm I have this right, you don't think our banking industry needs any Government rules placed on them?  You asked about the Federal Government.  Unless specifically listed as a Federal power, I believe the power goes to the States.  Is this regulatory power granted to the Federal Government by the Constitution?

Finally, do you want to chime in on my Gitmo question?  You've been more than cooperative if you want to skip on this one.  I don't think it angered our enemy much more than had we not held them at all.  These people will never like us and probably can't hate us any more than they already do.

Again, thanks for answering.  I'm guessing you don't agree with my Rep.
