The difference is "player options" are not mandatory.  There are also "club options" and "mutual options".

It would be interesting to know if more kids back out of a verbal or if more verbals are pulled by college coaches.

Doesn't matter. They can make all the handshake hush hush verbals they want and it would not matter because all the rest of the coaches would continue to make their pitch. Problem now is, the other coaches leave kids alone mostly once they are committed. If verbals were disallowed by the NCAA, then everyone will continue to recruit everyone and the true final decision will be signing day. NCAA would not even need to enforce it.

Sooooo, you are against girls waiting till signing day to make a final commitment?

I just said that all girls should five officials, if they are offered that opportunity.

However, you cannot do that in the current setup, not unless you are a Barnhill or Rogers or someone of that caliber who actually CAN call your shot and wait to decide up to the night before signing day. And, if that happens, other kids who have these non-binding offers can get massively screwed.

This is just spitballing

Spitballing is good. I'm just trying to point out that putting off the decision till signing day is a good thing even if the optics of a football player picking up this hat and then the other on tv before he signs is mildly offensive. Sign of the times.

Glad it's not just me. I had to delete two repeats.

There are sooo many football scholarships that even decent players can do the hat trick. But yes, making decisions at 18 would make everyone's lives better

And, my proposal would ensure that a kid can have an open mind in recruiting until Nov. of junior year, which is a lot better than now.

Nowadays, you had better be locked up at some point during sophomore season, or you will be left holding the bag, save those special cases aforementioned

Doctor, what would you prescribe for Grindz to cure him of the ill feelings that he exhibits for the LSU softball program?

I was at the exhibition and LSU won 3-2. Defensively we looked very good and saw improvement offensively. The Scrap Yard Dawgs plus Bailey Landry and Sahvanna Jaquish threw Lauren Haeger and we threw Walljasper. Several players played the positions you asked about. Don't know all of the newcomers yet.

Maybe you should venture across town to check out the team?? I came a day early for football weekend from Texas.

I was at a wedding so I wasn't able to come to BR this week

Excellent to hear about offensive improvements

Lauren Haeger is a excellent pitcher, to see success at the plate verse her is good new for us

I heard the infield looked very good too

how did Doyle and Springfield look? We need these ladies to take over this season at the plate

I will probably be in BR this week for the next scrimmage, excited to see this team with the newcomers

Beth seems to think they will play a major role and help a lot at the plate
