Worst might be a bad word, but what states have the longest road to go when it comes to developing softball players.

Mississippi and Louisiana have had decent players but not doesn't seem to manufacture top players on a consistent basis.

Louisiana, along with a number of other states, were slow to the fast pitch party.

Just from the Ragin Cajun history during Yvette Girouard's era in Lafayette she did a lot of national recruiting at that time. It wasn't as bad as there weren't that many teams playing nationally so the fast pitch playing states had plenty of players to share. Yvette saw the large number of P5 programs adding and funding softball and new she'd need more money and the university leadership at that time wasn't willing to fund softball so she went where the money was available. During here time in Lafayette I can only think on one All-American, Alyson Habetz.

Toward the end of Yvette's tenure, Stefni & Mike Lotief had started LA Reflections fast pitch travel teams in the area to push the sport and increase the available of athletes in Louisiana. During Stefni & Mikes tenure the Cajuns have had Louisiana players reach All-American status in 11 of the 16 years.

Really is a shame that Miami doesn’t have a team.

Feels so weird to not see them as state champions this past year... But, it feels great to know it was my hometown girls who sent them home.
