True.  Stanford will be a good case study with respect to exactly how far Conference strength will carry a team in the RPI.

The SEC seems to get a lot of teams into the tournament with really lousy conference records.  They have a couple with .267 winning percentage in conference and near .500 overall records right now.

Still think it is a good argument for establishing a baseline of .500 for tournament entry regardless of conference.

Right now that would make it possible that Stanford would get in and Missouri, Ole Miss Might not.

That would also open up the possibility that non-P5 conferences might get more than one entry into the tournament.

No, .500 overall... but it would not break my heart to have established minimums for conference play as well.  Tough to watch teams with .250 or lower in conference still make it to the tournament, regardless of RPI.

I like Allister and I agree they will be back in there very soon. Stanford is not good this year. they lost to several so so mid majors.

You're right on the money, olddawg. No team with an overall record under .500 should ever qualify for the postseason. And that should hold true even if that team is Oklahoma, Oregon, Florida or Sisters of the Poor.

Wow. Just back back from Mexico and my high got burst seeing my Arizona Wildcats sucked in Eugene.

Geez. I love the RPI but now I'm thrown a bit.  How can the Wildcats be in the top 16 after that?

If you don't know the answer to that question, you're obviously on the wrong board.

It is me who is missing the brain cells.
There have been numerous sub-.500 overall teams make it in.....but they were conference champions.

They got dropped two spots. They played a team with monster credentials. So, about right.

Problem is, it will be hard to get those two spots back

So what do you prefer s cry be, 2 (or 3 or 4 or 5) polls massaged by armchair cowboys?

Yeah. Thought so. Don't bring any objectiveness into the dance.

If you're going to answer your own question, why ask to begin with?

How many games in the Oregon Trail Swing next week does OU have to win to lock down top 8? Beat the Ducks, take at least one from OSU? Lose to Ducks, win both from the Beavs?

Honestly, I think Oklahoma could lose two of three and be just fine. They are adding such elite OWP and OOWP (with the Ducks) and solid OWP and OOWP (for OSU), that I think that going down 42 points in WP (from 39-2 to 40-4) would be largely counterbalanced.

Remember, FSU got swept against Oregon, run-ruled once, in May and it didn't drop them AT ALL. Kept a 4 seed.

Is it Kleist vs. the Sooners, or does Coach White make a statement with Elish? What's happened to Balint? I think Ducks will see Parker and Lowary. Lopez will get Game 1 vs. OSU.

Kleist and Elish both pitched against Oklahoma in June. If Kleist gets Friday and Sunday in Tempe, maybe Miranda. Just a guess.

Maggie has a 1.86 ERA with a better than 4-1 K-BB ratio and better than a K per inning. The other two have been SO dominant, it has been difficult to get her in there (like Elish last year). She is a stud.

It is amazing:
Washington leads Oregon by a hair, .71167 to .70618

In the most volatile 25 percent of the score, Washington leads Oregon in win percentage by 109 points! (.951 to .842)
