How are you going to run on that? Soft pop up to the short stop if it drops runners on first and second 1 down. Little league mistake. If I was coach she'll be running laps for that error. Possibly could cost fsu the game

If they are, it's probably because it hasn't been called all tournament until now. I'll take your word for it because I'm not rewinding to check. Game is too intense for that.

Just a feeling, but don't think we'll see Hanson tonight.

Bates reminds me a lot of when Caitlin Lowe played.  Both players play with heart and grit.

Matt Meuchel and I think a few others now put together these numbers through software programs.  Matt is the assistant at Arkansas.  Run Production Charts that show the odds of scoring at least one run given the base/out situation and that also show, on average, how many runs will score in the inning given the base/out situation.

These numbers are from the previous year's D1 games and include every game played.  Consistently, they show that you have a significantly better chance of scoring at least one run with a runner on second and one out than you do with a runner on third and two outs.  And as the other poster noted, in some years you have a slightly better chance of scoring with a runner on first and no outs than with a runner on second and one out.  In other words, the sac bunt is a bad play even if you are playing for one run and you do it with a runner on first and no outs.  Factors could change that thought, such as the current batter, the pitcher, etc., but on average those are the numbers.

I've been waiting for numbers like that for years.   Glad to see somebody has taken the time to run the numbers for softball.
