Kaupe has all the defensive tools to play third. She has some power (4 HRs), but needs to improve her batting average (.246) and discipline at the plate (24 strikeouts in 65 at bats).

Anyway, this is the recruiting thread, so...

That laundry list was pretty good at third, with the exception of Snow, who ill or injured, was not a good fit for the Huskies. Souza and DePonte both were good, Souza went to catch when our catcher was injured, I think, and DePonte was injured. Jenny McNeil was a great third base, but couldn't hit well enough to stay in the lineup (she did pretty good her senior year, though). I think Courtney Gano went to catcher when Souza got injured, and Gano herself got ill, so neither went back to 3rd. I agree, Missy never got to play 3rd and left because of that.

I agree that Taylor Van Zee set a high bar for 3rd base play, but the next 3rd base will be pretty darn good- it's what the Huskies do.

Did Kylee Lahners also play some at third? I seem to remember her there.

Here is the way I remember it. In 2014, after Shawna Wright graduated, Courtney Gano went from 3rd to Catcher(although she had an illness and was out a lot of the season). Kimberlee Souza had been scheduled to play 3rd base or catcher, but tore an ACL in the fall and was out for the year. Kylee Lahners is a versatile athlete and she played both 3rd base and the outfield, sometimes in the same game. Jennie McNeill also played 3rd that year.
