UW Volleyball's whole 2018 class took an official visit so they could all sit behind the bench for Senior Night against Wazzu. Girls from Florida, Arkansas, Texas, California, and Oregon.

Just an example of a five-fer "ceremonial this-is-where-I-am-committed-to visit" visit - not asking you to like it. That and their choosing to come from as far away as Florida, Arkansas, and Texas, per discussion of recruits not wanting to stay home.

when I said five... I meant kids should be able to TAKE five visits. MOST places have the whole signing class in for the ceremonial visit. Unless something flew over my head with your post, that is not unique at all

I got that. I was referring to what I quoted, not the five-visit thing. It was unique for UW, that and recruits coming so far, just to say, we're here - at least they get one expenses paid trip, if not five. The recruits lined up behind the bench thing isn't unique for Stanford, in volleyball - don't know about other schools.

Lexi Paulsen, right-hand pitcher from Carroll, Ohio (Taran Alvelo's home town).

Quote:
Warren Wolff, the Founder and President of the Outlaws organization, told us more about this Pac-12-bound 2022 today:

“Lexi is an amazing young lady who comes from a religious family,” he began. “She joined us in August and it was kind of a whirl windfall since joining us. She came here with no exposure or interest and a had a crazy winter with visits to Oregon, Washington, and Louisiana Lafayette, but she just loved Washington and their coaches.”

“She’s a hard thrower with a good change, rise and curve and has been clocked in the 63-64 mph range with a lot more upside, according to her pitching coach who also worked with Alvelo. She thinks Lexi could follow in Taran’s footsteps and those are some big shoes to fill!”

There is a question mark at least. Probably some stat inflation going on when the team average is .519, or just really weak competition. Interestingly Amirah Milloy’s sister Kiki, a Tennessee commit, is also on the team and is statistically even better than Cummings.

I am not disparaging this kid at all because I have never seen her play.  But anyone who knows anything puts no stock into what a players high school stats are/were.  In many instances, just because a player hits well in high school does not translate to them being a great hitter in college.

LOL.  Some school districts are better than others.  But even in the better high school districts you will still have inflated batting averages, strikeouts, etc.  If you want to use high school numbers as a gauge for success at the next level, feel free to do so at your own risk.

She has thrown out all four runners who tried to steal on her and picked off four others who strayed too far off base.

Inferring that Huskey is the highest ranking... and understanding that the Flo rankings, especially with Eads no longer in the mix, will likely become even more hit or miss than than they have been....

yikes

Neither Oregon nor Washington (I know they were never in that rumor mill) getting Amanda Sanchez could be a thorn in the side

My guess is that Kaupe could end up at 3rd for UW (I don't see Atlee or Bates there). (Maddi Banks was previously slated there.)

The last month or so, there have been rumors over on the Auburn Softball 2018 thread that RHP Kelly Lynch (#4 Flosoftball), still committed to Auburn for 2019-20, is "intrigued by Washington", "talking with Washington, Florida, and Alabama", "very interested in Washington", "has chatted with Coach Tarr this summer", and "is shopping her talents around". Who knows, we'll see.

Her East Coweta HS teammate, OF Lilly Agan, and RHP Sarah Willis, who switched her commitment from Auburn, are committed to UW for 2020-21.

And Gallagher, not currently on the roster, was Van Zee's backup at 3B last year. Tarr is high on Kaupe and is going to get her into the lineup somehow.

You see a problem, I see an opportunity. Nawai Kaupe, with a strong arm and good fielding instincts seems a natural choice, since her initial preference of SS is locked down by Bates. Kaupe could easily join the list of great 3rd base players like Morgan Stuart and Taylor Van Zee. Others who have done well at 3rd at times include Kimberlee Souza and Courtney Gano, both who left 3rd due to injuries.

3rd base has never been a problem at the UW. I don't see a problem this coming year, and that's not even mentioning the incoming freshman players.

Toss all that flower around that you want and... best case... there is a degree of inferiority at the position this year from Van Zee. Worst case, it is a problem.

Tarr, an ex-third basemen, doesn't award that position easily. Prior to Van Zee, it was a laundry list: Souza, DePonte, Snow, McNeill, Gano. One player, Missy Taukeiaho, up and quit midseason, because Tarr stuck her out in left field and wouldn't let her play third.

I do know Tarr is going after her very hard and she has Kelley's attention. There is smoke to this situation. Lynch does like what is going on in Washington's program.

It'll be interesting if she comes in for an official visit
