I do hope that Sam Manthi and Maggie Gallagher both find a place to play. I think they were nice additions to the Huskies and to the sport as well.
Welcome to Pat Moore. I'm not certain that she can rise to the level of Pac -12, but we will see.

Ye, looks like Washington just replaced one distant 3rd on the depth chart with another. Moore just dove into the deep end of college softball in the PAC 12. Quite a leap from the pathetically weak Big East.

Good for her though, a promotion.

Sam left because she wanted to play. Decision was made immediately after WCWS.

Well, I guess we'll just have to wait until the school she ends up at announces she's been added to their roster (like UW just announced Schiele and Moore). She could be a starter at many schools, just not at UW. So all the luck to her, just not against us.

I'm still holding out hope that Gallagher will be back on the roster once school starts.

Kristen "Pat" Moore was on her NFCA All-Region Team. She does have PNW connections: she's from Oregon (South Medford HS/All-American Mizuno). She's also something UW hasn't had in the circle for awhile: a lefty!

And, yes, 3LT, she leaps (or "hops"), or did, in the video (from 2015) here:

https://www.flosoftball.com/articles/5044291-pat-moore-commits8230-despite-the-cold-038-pizza-23

and here (from 2017):

She actually pitched against the Huskies in March. From the box score it appears she was somewhat erratic. 5ks but also 5 walks in 3 innings.

To be sure, a pitcher can leap without hopping, Dallas Escobedo the most illustrious in displaying that distinction

Wonder if this has to do with SM missing.

A good little pitcher. Nice pick up

The room/board funds are directly deposited on the first day of summer school, I guess to make sure the SA doesn't drop the class beforehand.

Watched her pitch several games this year and this could be a good pickup for Washington if anyone has an injury on their staff.

So she's not good enough to be in the starting rotation?

With Alvelo and Plain ahead of her, she'd be the third starter, regardless. That's why Manti left.

A lefty to throw bp!! That is worthy of a celebration.

Yep. I thought the same thing. They normally dont have the players throw bp very often (at least they didn't when coach rob was there) but this is probably too good to pass up.

Yes, sam is good enough to be a #2 a lot of places, just not WA where there are 2 AA ahead of her.

My guess at the starters for 2019:

P: Alvelo (Sr) and Plain (So)

C: Flores (RS-Jr)

1B: Helm (So)

2B: Atlee (Jr)

SS: Bates (Jr)

3B: Kaupe (So)

RF: Milloy (Sr)

CF: Schiele (RS-Fr)

LF: Huskey (Fr)

DP: Hee (So)

I've been sitting on this for awhile, but official word is now out. Sam Manti has transferred to LMU:

https://lmulions.com/news/2018/8/6/three-transfers-join-lmu-softball.aspx

Quote:
After a successful 2018 season which ended in a Postseason NISC Championship for the Loyola Marymount softball team, head coach Sami Strinz-Ward has added three transfers to the Lions roster for next season. Megan Dedrick, Sam Manti and Desiree Moreno will all be joining the LMU softball program this year.

Quote:
"Sam is a big pick up for up for us, with Women's College World Series experience in both years of her college career," Strinz-Ward said. "She is extremely competitive and takes care of business in the classroom and on the ball field. Her competitive mindset fits in perfectly with our coaches and team. She is a driven athlete and will be a great addition to our pitching staff."

Wish her all the luck, just not against the Dawgs, of course.

I’m assuming NSW to play local teams there. NSW is the top state in Australian softball so makes sense.

And of course Gabbys home state. (

Don't give a s*it what Terrell says from his little soapbox....

Looks like Danielle Lawrie hasn't missed a beat in a decade.

Can anyone decipher who is playing in the medal games?

The last tweet I saw from USA was with them down to Japan 3-2 in the fourth last night

Canada is in the bronze medal game. (After belting Aus 12-0)

It’s currently top 8 Japan vs USA. (On WBSC YouTube account ifnyou hurry) The winner of that game will go straight to gold medal game. The loser plays Canada.

After watching all the top college pitchers going really well at the world champs I’m baffled why Australia didn’t select Gabbie Plain. Our top pitcher went great (and lost it in the first dig against Canada) But our second and third string pitchers have huge ERAs. (One had an ERA of 7.88. Not a typo)

Our two younger pitchers did well, but didn’t pitch much. Gabbie needs to be in the National side from now on.

Just watched USA beat Japan in 9, 4-3. Fujita(?) went the full 9 for Japan, USA used everybody. Abbott gave up the 3 Japanese runs. Garcia looked the best, Ricketts next. Barnhill came in for 1 batter. Got her to pop up to 2nd, but I think 2 near wild pitches with runners at 2+3 forced Erickson to bring in Ricketts. Must not call obstruction in the International game, Munro with a great block and tag to keep the game at 3-3, also had a solo homer. Stewart with another dinger(3 for 3) to tie the game. Really good game.

I didn't see today's, but based on the play in Irvine, they must not call it

I was curious who would be Canada's ace with Sara G out. Lawrie is dialing in. Looks like she's starting to feel comfortable with more innings. Team Canada will be a force with all their pitchers back next summer.

Flo is streaming replays for most of the games. This game should be available soon.

Japan got robbed. Player game home in the 2nd and was safe as houses. Obvious in real time.

And the strike zone was AWFUL

Where were you before I paid for flosoftball? I seriously hate that website. I dont mind paying for a service. It's taken them almost a day to be able to watch games. So frustrating!
