And, like Earleywine losing that UF third game could SAVE him (re: his team breaking .500), UW having only one ASU game could be the difference in determining the conference champ

I just don't get it.... why not a doubleheader tomorrow, so you have time to play with and minimize chance of a drop-dead time coming into play

Because the forecast for Saturday is for a break in the weather (if 20% chance of rain is a break) for, at best, two to three hours in the middle of the day. (The chance of rain is more like 40% for tomorrow morning.) Sunday will be dry, morning and afternoon.

Great job by Sam Manti today, she is really impressing [smile]

It was interesting what Mike B. was saying about the change in Pac-12 rules: whereas before you were allowed 1 offensive and 1 defensive conference per inning, now you only get a total of 6 talks for the whole game (in Pac-12 play) this is obviously a rule change to make the games go faster... although I didn't think this was really a problem, now they have apparently "fixed" it.

Of note 9 of the last 11 have been played in Seattle.

But, then, we played 12 innings in 85 degrees yesterday and didn't get one in 67 at bats.

And why did the first game end with 2 outs and 2 on?

Both of GCU's runners were running on the last fly out, not tagging up. I'm just guessing they had a special run rule - game over if up by 10 with two outs in the bottom of the fifth.

Ok. Thanks.

I wasn't paging attention to the broadcast at that point and noticed the weird line for Alvello and the scorers note.

As an ump we always called a runner out if they voluntarily entered the dugout area. I'm guessing that didn't happen or the scorer didn't notice/ask for clarification.

I relooked at the last inning on the video. It was a scoring error:

Out 1. There was a ground out for the first out.

Out 2. The playlist has Freeman (#9) flying out for the last out, when in the video she struck out on three pitches, but is not credited with a strikeout in the boxscore.

Out 3. Hill (#25) flies out for the last out, but is listed in the boxscore as going 2 for 2.

Looks to me that Alvelo is short a strikeout (Freeman is listed with 0 strikeouts) and an out. Hill's last at bat is credited to Freeman (a fly out), while Hill's last at bat (the fly out), according to the boxscore and playlist, never happened (at least officially).

I can't speak for Kurosawa, but maybe he's looking in the books for the last time that the Huskies were no hit. I can't recall it in my 10 years of following the Dawgs- but then I tend to gloss over any losses,  anyway.

For what it's worth, I'd pitch Manti in the second game, and let Maddie Schreyer come in to relieve, if necessary.

Well, everyone else in the Pac would like for UW to not get swept.

It has been said that Mowatt no-hit the Huskies in May 2008
    Arizona -3
    Wahington -0
    11 Ks with 2 walks
Sam Bannister hit a solo home run
All runs were scored in the 4th inning

They were no hit by Blaire Luna a few years ago. I don't remember what year that was but I remember they were undefeated coming into that game.

Wonder why posting activity on this forum has shrunk to next to nothing?

Does this season remind anyone else of the 2012 UW season?  UW started off real hot that year too but crashed when PAC season started.  There was speculation about what Super spot they would get early but they barely got the 16th regional.

Hopefully this team can do better.  Do you think this year's team is better?

They will really have to implode to fall that far this year.  They started at #1 in the RPI last week.

Seattle's girls could not push #3 & #18
Will be interesting to see if they can do it against #22, #25 and #40.

Whomever you deem as No. 3, among the top 3-5 No. 3 pitchers in the NCAA (UF, LSU... who else?)

40 nuked Cal after a spotty first inning last weekend
