I counted 4 homeruns, but I was in the sun, so I might have missed one, or made up one. #13 was warming up in the 6th but Maddie settled down after the bases cleared. Those homerun were not cheap ones, either- lots of air and distance. Can't wait to see them over the next two days. So nice to be warm, watching softball and sitting with familiar and new Husky fans. I even saw Kaitlyn Inglesby in the stands.

Aubert is no longer listed on the roster. Don't know what "happened" with her. Has she played this season? (Pac-12 shows no stats for her.) While she has a cannon of an arm, her bat was anemic.

Yesterday: UW 13 Indiana 1

Bottom of 1st: Van Zee RBI

Bottom of 2nd: Milloy 2RBI HR, Stangel RBI, Flores Grand Slam HR, Gallagher RBI

Bottom of 3rd: Van Zee HR

Bottom of 4th: Ogasawara HR

Top of 5th: Lehman RBI

W: Manti 5ip, 2h, 1r, 1er, 1bb, 3so

Starters: Melhart (rf), Stangel (dh), Van Zee (2b), Bates (ss), Flores (c), Thomas (1b), Gallagher (3b), Milloy (lf), Burdick (cf). Still no Aguilar or DePonte.

UW's write-up on this match was barely readable:

"Nine different Husky batters tallied at least one base knock..."

"Freshman RHP Taran Alvelo (8-0) earned the win, striking out three while allowing just two hits and one walk." (Sam Manti earned the complete game win.)

"Two more run was earned two more runs off a Gallagher single allowed Kirtstyn Thomas to cross home plate." (Stangel had an RBI single between the two home runs, Gallagher an RBI single after - I had to go to the Indiana site to figure that out.)

"Sis Bates followed up with a triples and was plated off a sacrifice fly from Flores. In the fourth inning, Ogasawara homered with Milloy on first to score two, upping the Huskies total runs to 14." (The Huskies scored a total of 13 runs.)

UW 4h, 1e, 4lob
NU 3h, 0e, 8lob

Schreyer: 5ip, 3h, 3bb, 2k, 1hbp, 1dbl

I haven't heard anything but for her to not play at all this weekend she must be. Hope it's nothing that's going to keep her out too long and same for DePonte. They are going to need them both.

My twitter feed from UW suggests Wednesday and Thursday- The Penn State/Seattle U doubleheader for today has been cancelled, which would open up the game for Wednesday. Still a few hours until gametime, so hopefully it will become clearer.

They will be lucky to get any games in except for Friday if the Seattle weather forecast holds.

Then again baseball players and Seattle weathermen are about the only people on earth who can hit .333 and keep their jobs.  The longest a forecast is dependable for in Seattle is 4-6 hours.

According to the UW schedule:

Wednesday: 5pm Penn State vs UW @ Seattle U (Free)
Thursday: 5pm Penn State @ UW (Free)
Friday: 3:45pm Minnesota @ UW, 6pm Penn State @ UW
Saturday: 2:45pm South Dakota @ UW, 5pm Minnesota @ UW
Sunday: 12:15pm Seattle U @ UW

http://www.gohuskies.com/schedule.aspx?schedule=420

I'm assuming if weather permits...

Quote:
The doubleheader between Seattle University softball and Penn State scheduled for Wednesday, March 8, has been cancelled.

Between potential weather concerns and illness effecting the Redhawks’ roster, the games have been cancelled and will not be made up.

Both Aguilar and DePonte played yesterday. Aguilar subbed for Thomas twice at DP, getting a single and a walk, and 2 RBIs. A PR was subbed for her the second time (not sure about the first).
