Glad to know Coach Hardin has UVA headed in the right direction because Blake Miller was a complete cluster &%*$

With new stadium coming online in a couple years this program might be in position to explode with Jo Hardin at the reigns!

Getting UVA back to prominence is just good all around. Way too many quality Mid Atlantic kids were being ignored prior to Hardin. And the new facilities good news also.

What was Blake Miller's resume like before coming to VA? Was he qualified?

Oregon Asst., if that qualifies. And, hope I get this right, former player>wife>pitching coach. And her claim to fame was teaching prospective pitching recruits that Stork move she ripped off from the Karate Kid movie.

You could go to any of their UVA camps back when Miller was the Coach and she'd have all the Pitchers standing with one leg cocked up, arms spread. She said it was a balancing drill..actually it looked like every kid was learning how to take a crap while standing on one leg.

Debatable whether that helps you become a better pitcher. But then again, if you've got less gas, your less bloated, feel more comfortable, your happier, when your happier I guess you pitch better...maybe it does work.

Just getting to be competitive would be a good start, this from the release:

"In Hardin’s first season at the helm, Virginia qualified for its first ACC Tournament since 2013 and its nine conference wins were tied for the second most in program history."

I thought they had a few decent seasons under Schmidt?  Maybe the ACC was small enough for FP a few years ago that 9 wins was more significant.  This class does meet some glaring needs on paper; numbers to backfill a small roster from Miller's attrition, pitchers and lefty hitters.

ACC rival BC also signed 4 Va players, some of them may have looked at UVa if Miller wasn't there when they committed.  Hardin was born and raised in SoCal so I think you'll continue to see west coast commits in the future combined with more in-state recruits.

On a side note. Millers first Fall @ UVA approx 10-12 girls quit before the Spring, about half the team. Typically that's kinda of a red flag.

One of the parents at the time told me something crazy like 6-7 candidates turned the job down before they finally hired Miller. UVA didn't give a rip about their softball program and Miller turned out to be the in-grown hair on the hemorrhoid on the ass of the team.
