What does it mean to be an alternate? Do you not get to travel with the team unless you are called up to?

They all travel. The just can't dress and can only play if someone is removed from the active roster.

They are practicing starting Monday, leading up to the World championships July 24-30 in Clearwater

I thought they should of kept Morgan zerkle! She had a good outing at the World Cup!

Tow being an alternate was a surprise
Dalton making it sort of a surprise.

Klingler making it, she absolutely deserves it. But she was a walk up at the try outs. I don't think she was on anyone's radar a week before the tryouts and i believe is the 2nd leading hitter as of now.

Ye agree on Dalton.  I guess if you hit .440 everything else gets overlooked. Tow at least hit .385

My concern would be with our pitchers. Lugo had lowest ERA. Thankfully they cut Killfoyl & her 5+ERA. If they pitch Nickles they should get arrested. Everybody else still has ERAs which are too high, even throwing against a bunch of scrub travel programs. Most likely, the other Junior programs aren't much better than an avg travel program in the states so we should be ok.

Wish I had got to see the 10th grader throw so I could judge for myself.

She's young that's all. Putting her on the team was certainly a nice resume builder but she was in way over her head. Played against her & seen her throw many times. Considering her age she is ahead of the curve no doubt. As she gets older & develops, gets smarter & learns the game she will only get better. I am typically critical on pitchers, as my daughter is one heading off to school this fall. Kilfoyl is your typical young kid who throws a bit harder than most in her class. I would rate her top 10 in her age group for pitchers. IMO.

Check her out if you get the chance, if she's throwing in her age group she's fun to watch.

I've only got to see her once and that was last summer. I was planning on watching her during World Cup but just couldn't make it to the JWNT games.

Offense looked very good and should keep us above water in pool play.

Azevedo did an excellent job in the Sunday finale, throwing a 5-inning runrule shutout. Before that, half of her ER's came following a pitching change that the fans (parents) arguably thought should not have happened.

Lugo did very well in most of her innings. Her only blemish that comes to mind would be against Japan, but still a very good outing, all things considered.

Juarez looked stronger each outing as the tournament progressed. Possibly just nerves early on.

Nickles hasn't pitched to a live batter since the selection camp, and heard she only started throwing again after WCWS. She got 2 outs pretty quickly, but had trouble after that, so it's obvious she's got a lot of work to put in to get back in to pitching shape. Heard she was reluctant to throw at all, but gave it a go anyway so Kudos to her for trying it against a very good hitting Team Mexico. Thinking the committee is looking at her in MIF exclusively at Worlds, as she led the team & tournament offensively at WCOS hitting 0.550

Tow looked great offensively in games coming in to WCOS, but didn't make much noise during it, so could have been the deciding factor.

Dalton did a good job as DP, and defensively in OF as well. Maybe my only question with her is why she hits lefty so often. Didn't realize she was a switch hitter til I watched her hit a HR in what I believe was her only righty-AB of the tournament. Would think she might hit righty a little more often after watching that, but she does a great job hitting for average regardless.
