Well it looks like Febrey may be the counterpart of the battery with Brittany Gray. She's catching for her again. I don't know who you could take out of the lineup to fit both Febrey and O'neal in while still keeping it sound on defense. The only player I could maybe think of is Sumerlin... nonetheless, it's great to have that much depth sitting in the dugout- good options for pinch hitters.

Nice to see both freshman catchers throwing runners out, making the decision even tougher (even if it does look like Bryan whiffed on the tag...)

What a wonderful article about the Emanuel sisters. Georgia was lucky to get this duo.

dicarlo can hit off of any pitcher! She is definitely one of the SECs best, I feel like she will just put up more great SEC play stats.

DiCarlo hits another one... thats her 6th. Looks like Cort Emanuel went 4-4 and is now batting something crazy like .620+?

Wonder how she did at the US team tryouts? Or have those not happened?

I'm very impressed with Milz so far. Burton seems to be struggling this weekend. I'm not sure she has had a hit at all, but hopefully it was just a weekend slump.

Correction, DiCarlo now has 7 home runs!

Interesting that UGA has 9 long balls on the season - 7 belong to DiCarlo and two rookies (O'Neal & Febrey) each have one apiece.

So much speed on this roster - I wonder if the Dawgs can keep up the pace next weekend at MNC...?

I think UCLA will route UGA tbh, but I still think Georgia will beat every other team. Ucla simply has too much fire power and Georgias pitching is better overall in terms of a staff, but they don't have an ace that can just shut a team down like Chelsea wilkinson. The team will be fine

I was just telling a buddy yesterday that I fully expect UCLA to whoop UGA's butt at MNC. The two toughest teams they have played this season are Syracuse and Dayton, no offense to the Orange and the Flyers...

The line-up has enough speed and pop to score runs, but the defense (last in the SEC) has been awful against weak competition. Considering the Dawgs are currently pitching by committee and rely heavily on defense in the lack of a dominant strikeout pitcher, this is concerning.

It will take at least half a season chock-full of growing pains before this unit gets used to the true speed of the game. The future looks bright though, to say the least. Here's hoping Georgia can scratch out at least 2-3 games this upcoming weekend against Fullterton, Northwestern, Notre Dame, BYU, and UCLA.

I fully expect our faulty defense to come back to bite us at some point...probably this weekend. I'd be very pleased with 3-2 at MNC, and delighted with 4-1. Excited (and maybe a little anxious) to see how some of the new faces hold up against stiffer competition.

I'll be interested to see how aggressive they are on the base paths in Cali. 42 stolen bases through twelve games, you gotta figure it slows down at some point.

In what way? The 5? The 405? The 105? The 110? The 101? The 10? Or, perhaps, Ortega Road?

you're very funny, but I'm a huge UGA fan, go to every game I can, but I seriously don't see our pitching and defense keep the bruins at bay, the hitting may score some runs tho

You have to wonder if Georgia will surprise UCLA with Ablan (who it seems is being "hidden" right now), or if they will go with Gray?

Looking forward to seeing this squad get tested by some tough opponents this weekend.

I'm wondering why they haven't been using her.. Last game I saw her pitch in she was on fire then they pulled her!

Maybe she didn't want teams scouting her on video footage from the early goings of the season? It's either that or she's still developing - or has a nagging injury we don't know about...

I hope it's the scouting problem!

Saw a picture earlier on twitter of the team practicing with Febrey in the circle. My thoughts is they're being secretive, but they could surprise us all and throw Febrey a couple of innings over in Cali.

I'm a little surprised we haven't seen more of her--I've thought she's looked solid in very limited appearances. I'd love a surprise start...but my guess is Bass/Avant vs. BYU and Gray vs. UCLA.

Febrey has caught a full game (though usually has been the DP), hit a home run, and is now pitching BP? Makes sense, seeing as how she was a pitcher at her high school, but funny to see her doing so many different things. Love it!

actually, that is febrey catching, Mahlena O'Neal batting, and Madison McPherson throwing batting practice. I'm guess the "scout" team was trying to give the starters a good look.

Febrey was a very good TB pitcher up through 16U. Then she stopped for some reason and started playing a lot of 1B. Do not recall ever seeing her catch in TB.

Have been following Avant, Ablan, and Bass for several years on the TB circuit and I will be very surprised is Ablan is not the best of the 3.

So far, Bulldog hitters are staring at strikes and swinging at balls from McKenna Bull.

BYU on top of Georgia 3-0 courtesy of a 2 RBI long ball and a SAC fly. Georgia looks all kinds of off-balance...

Bull is too good of a pitcher to keep handing runs. Can Gray do something useful?
