Faraimo throws her first no hitter in a 5-inning win over Fresno State last night. Might this finally be the year (in recent memory) that UCLA has some pitching depth?

Faraimo is the real deal. I just worry that her and Garcia are too similar of pitchers(both riseball dominant) to provide different looks in the champ series or elimination games at the CWS.

She is the real deal. Its true that they are similar pitchers but she's at least insurance for the "run out of gas" factor.

I do believe that Azevdo will be more effective in more of a relief role for the Bruins. Her change up is legit and is hard for any team to adjust too after seeing Garcia or Faraimo for 4 or 5 innings.

I’m waiting to see his Faraimo does against a good hitting team. She’s starting out pretty well tho, but so did Azevdo last year.

UCLA scored 13 runs against UC Riverside in the 1st without recording an out or reaching on an error.
HRs by Nickles, Jordan, and Garcia.

16 runs in the inning on 12 hits an 5 walks

Why even play the rest of the season?  Just give the National Championship to UCLA!

I see no mention of LMU, down 3-1 in the 7th, loading the bases with no outs.   Probably some nail biting going on in Westwood.  Either LMU is better than most thought or UCLA isn't as good as the polls would have you believe.

Rachel Garcia then struck out 2 swinging and induced a can of corn pop-up. Never a doubt tha Garcia would get out of that one.

If you think UCLA is overrated this year, you’re clearly not doing your research.

That being said LMUs pitcher did a nice job and they should have a good chance to upset some teams this year.

Looking forward to Florida playing UCLA twice this year. Hopefully, we get Barnhill v Garcia, Lugo v Faraimo and an umpire who can see when a player's out by 2 feet at home. [wink][crazy]

Two feet? LOL.

The super slo-mo showed she was, indeed, out. But more like two inches than two feet.

At least a foot and a half. Maybe a foot depending on when you think Wheaton tagged her. Google it.

Definitely didn’t want to see the bruins lose but I think the loss to Michigan will definitely help them find areas of growth. A very similar loss to the loss against FSU in the first game of the WCWS semis. UCLA definitely needs to work on their approach against lefties, which will be key when postseason comes along. Still two great wins against Florida.

I agree, they needed an early loss like this to make them realize this isn't gonna be a walk in the park season, they will struggle along the way.

Garcia didn’t play tonight. I was immediately terrified that she may have an injury? Anyone have info on that? Hopefully just a day of rest before the weekend series.

Can't be. Garcia's an "every day" player.

I would be shocked if it were just a day of rest - they don't play again until Friday. Especially not even a pinch hit in a ~somewhat~ close game.

Hoping it's not injury but if it is I'm wishing the best.
