Oklahoma did not win the 2018 softball title... so that makes their season somewhat of a disappointment.
Having won the previous two titles... a third consecutive title was the clear goal.

But... looking back at their 2018 season - they have a LOT to be proud about.
Here are two dozen reasons to be proud...

1.  They finished with the best record in division 1 softball:  57-5,  with the best winning percentage (.919).
2.  They finished with the best team ERA (1.12).
3.  They finished with the best team slugging percentage (.532).
4.  They finished with the best team OPS (.956).
5.  They finished with the best team fielding percentage (.986).

6.  They finished second in scoring (6.66 runs per game).  Boise State was #1 at 6.77 R/G.
7.  They finished second in team OBP (.424).  Florida was #1 with a .426 OBP.

8.  They finished fourth in team SO/BB ratio (5.75)  Oregon was #1 with a 7.56 SO/BB ratio.
9.  They finished fourth in team HR/G (1.32)  James Madison was #1 with a 1.47 HR/G.
10. They finished tenth in team BA (.321).  Boise State was #1 with a .354 BA.

11.  They finished the regular season with the fewest losses of any Oklahoma team ever: just three losses.
12.  They finished with the best Oklahoma team regular season record ever:  50-3  (.943 winning percentage).
13.  They were the first Oklahoma team to ever go undefeated in conference play with a perfect 18-0 record.
14.  Plus they went 3-0 in the conference tournament - to make it a perfect 21-0 in total.
15.  They won every home game in 2018, finishing 30-0.
16.  They carry a 34 home game winning streak into next season (winning their last 4 home games in 2017).
17.  They were the only team to have three first team All Americans in 2018.
18.  They had three of the top dozen players picked in the NPF draft.
19.  They had a player win the National Freshman of the year award: Jocelyn Alo.
20.  They had a player tie the record for most HR by a freshman: Alo with 30 HR.
21.  They had a player make the final group for the National Player of the Year: Paige Parker.
22.  Patty Gasso won her 1200th game in 2018.
23.  They had two players make the all WCWS team: Jocelyn Alo and Paige Parker.
24.  They advanced all the way to the semi finals and were in the final four.

The previous team, before Oklahoma, to win two titles in a row (Florida) failed to make it into the WCWS in their effort to three-pete.
The team before Florida to win two titles in a row (Arizona) made it into the WCWS, but went two losses and out.
So Oklahoma finishing behind only the top two teams in 2018... ain't too bad.

They had a tremendous season.

I'd think that fans without insecurity issues wouldn't need to write all this out to convince themselves.

Since the turn of the century...  only TEN teams have made it to the WCWS 7 times.

#25.  Oklahoma has made it to the WCWS 7 times...  in the last 8 seasons.

Florida has made it 6 times in the last 8 seasons.
Oregon and Alabama have made it 5 times in the last 8 seasons.
LSU, UCLA and Arizona State have made it 4 times.
Baylor, Washington, Tennessee, Michigan and Florida State  have made it 3 times.

Let me take you through the post...

"Since the turn of the century...  only TEN teams have made it to the WCWS 7 times."

The sentence above - is talking about the WCWS since 2000.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"#25.  Oklahoma has made it to the WCWS 7 times...  in the last 8 seasons

Oregon and Alabama have made it 5 times in the last 8 seasons.
LSU, UCLA and Arizona State have made it 4 times.
Baylor, Washington, Tennessee, Michigan and Florida State  have made it 3 times."

The next five lines (re-posted directly above) are talking about "in the LAST 8 SEASONS", as it clearly says.

Thanks. I know the Cajuns have made it 3 times since 2000 so I was just asking for clarification.

That's a pretty good one, 34sDad.

I'll add to that SEC theme with two more...

#27.  Oklahoma was undefeated vs. SEC teams in 2018.
They were 6-0 against SEC teams.

#28.  They put an end to the season of three SEC teams:  Missouri, Arkansas and Florida.

wow...you have way too much time on your hands. I suggest a hobby, maybe wood working or something in the clays.

I also have this feeling your DD just graduated from OU and you are compiling her accomplishments for the end of time. I am thinking your last name is Parker...am I right?!?!?

I have been working with Nick Offerman as a sort of apprentice at his shop. He is very good with the wood (Ask his wife, Meg).

And I only work with clay when Demi Moore is available.

That wasn't me with the Deep Thought...
It was PH2 who came up with that Deep Thought ("They're good enogh, smart enough, and doggone it, people like them.").

Btw... nice one, PH2.

Well, since you brought up "in the last seven seasons"...

Oklahoma has now finished in the final four teams - FIVE times in the last seven seasons.

Florida and Washington have finished in the final four - three times in the last seven seasons.

Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, LSU and Oregon... have each done it two times in the last seven seasons.

That's a total of eight teams which have finished in the final four - at least twice... in the last seven seasons...
three teams that have done it - at least three times... in the last seven seasons...
and ONE team that did it FIVE times.

Thanks, Gatorzzz2014.   Your reply makes a lot more sense to me - than the 3 posters above who have some weird need to put people down...
for simply feeling good about what their team accomplished.

Best of luck to your gatorz.
