Has anybody caught the PSA from the NFLPA about the military? Looks like a big CYA moment!

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell tacitly acknowledged the damage done by the politicization of football in remarks delivered on Wednesday.

“People come to our stadiums to be entertained and have fun,” the commissioner noted, “not to be protested to.”

The remarks came as part of Bloomberg’s The Year Ahead Summit and reflect a recognition of a ratings decline and criticism from some sponsors. Though Goodell held that he hoped to learn from the concerns of players, he reiterated his desire that they stand for the national anthem.

“I think that’s one of the things I think when we have a platform the way we do, people seek to find that division and I think that’s something we try to resist,” Goodell explained of the protests. “And in this case I’ve been very clear about this — the anthem, the respect for our flag is very important. So, I want to see our players stand.”

Despite the league’s endorsement last month of federal legislation aimed at reforming federal prisons and sentencing, Goodell maintained that “politics is not something we do.”

Goodell wants $50M/year on his new contract.

If I were the team owners, I would offer the guy 10 million dollars and duct tape it to his head to prevent concussion protocol controversy, and give him a swift kick in the ass from the limo to the curb. Better yet, a parachute pack loaded with the cash, and a kick out of the corporate jet. Either way, it equates to increased revenue with only a measly 10 million dollar outlay.

Oh, I love old school football. The ghosts from the past and all. I wish I could still watch it. What do you think Lombardi, or Landry would have done to any man on his team if they would have disrespected our flag and our nation in a public display the way these "men" have?

It's the same with the actors and actresses. They just have to get on a soapbox and tell Americans what they should think, or how terrible Americans are that don't agree with their political views. From that moment on, I can't watch a movie with them in it, and enjoy watching their craft no matter how well they perform. They ruined it not only for themselves, but everyone else as well.

Fully agree Woody.   We have a guy here.  He does the full exact equivalent of the finger wagging from on high.  Then he gets so upset, so upended when he is shown to be wrong.  At which point he is only left with this pontificating disconnected operation to play out.

Had someone disrespected the flag, we all would agree that it would have to stop. Mischaracterizing a kneel in protest to social injustice as disrespecting veterans and the flag is patently dishonest. State the act as it is actually being performed.......He chose to sit and when it was brought to his attention the basic act of sitting, ignoring the ceremony disrespected it, he modified it to kneeling. We kneel at all sorts of acts of worship and respect. If you want to discredit the act with a measure of truth, don't continually misrepresent the action.

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color," Kaepernick told NFL Media in an exclusive interview after the game. "To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder."

Obviously his general studies degree from Nevada isn't very good. We see players all the time appealing and still playing while it works through the system.

His words fresh:

>Gets caught wearing piggy socks.
>Already losing job.
>Tries to turn into a full fledged protest.
?Americans correctly point out protests are fine, disrespecting the flag is not.
>Costs the NFL 100's milions.
>Still unemployed.

I've seen members on the Right call about 40% of Americans (Democrats) insane, retarded, and/or dangerous because they think differently than the Right.  It happens.

So you will agree it was in protest to the nation, not veterans or the flag itself? Would you agree that not showing respect is different from showing disrespect? Showing disrespect would require some overt action, demonstrating that disrespect. By amending his action when brought to his attention it might be construed as disrespect, I counter he made a reasonable adjustment.

Salient point.  Dewey and Fresh have both accused me of being a racist because they were embarrassed in exchanges where they were shown to lack a certain level of knowledge.

Antifa is dangerous.  A very dangerous crew.

Inb4 you point out racists/kkk/nazi's are dangerous, I openly disavow those elements from the left and from the right.

Too bad you don't disavow Antifa, would go a long way towards creating a more collaborative environment.

We all know why you won't engage a number of us.  You seemingly have more pride than the Washington Generals.

Please post where I have ever lied on this board, and please post where I have said anything close to racist.

Until then you will go back to your corner and your ramblings will be dismissed as the unclear thoughts of someone that has to resort to name calling when unable to formulate a coherent thought.

I would ask for a reference on that as well, but you are always short on facts.

Name calling is easy, probably best your little mind sticks to that.

"Show me where I've been racist."
"Here's where you've been racist."
"That's not racist."
"Yes it is."
"No it isn't."

An agreement is completely out of reach.

"This is where you called me a racist."
"That wasn't calling you a racist."
"Yes it was."
"No it wasn't."

An agreement is completely out of reach.

"It's a protest over unfair treatment in the minority communities."
"No, it's disrespecting the flag and our soldiers."
"No it isn't."

He's gone completely delusional with the a$$ kicking the GOP is giving his beloved party.

If you call someone a racist (which as a moderator, Dewey should do something about, but we all know why he won't - Red Team/Blue Team), you should be able to back it up.  If you can't, you just look like an uneducated dumba$$.
