Obama and Harris were longtime friends and his comment was said somewhat "playfully" - as he followed it with "It's true. C'mon" - as he sometimes does when he goes off script.  And he calls men "good looking guys" quite often and there is never an uproar about that.

Should he have said something like that?  Hell no.  It was stupid.  And I'm sure he realized it probably as soon as he said it.  He called Harris soon after and apologized.  She accepted his apology and continued to support him.  And Obama did not/does not routinely make comments like this.  Unlike his successor.

Do you think Trump called Brigitte Macron and apologized?  For saying such a sexist thing directly to her?  And then to her husband?  (And they aren't good friends - he hasn't known her for years.)

Think he's apologized to Mika?  Arianna Huffington?  Megyn Kelly?  Kim Kardashian?  Heidi Klum?  Heidi Cruz?  Cher?  Hillary?  Nancy O'Dell?  Rosie?  Women on The Apprentice?  And women everywhere for what he said in the Access Hollywood tape?  Oh, sorry, those were all insults, so no apologies needed.

Obama apologizes to Kamala Harris for 'best-looking attorney general' comment

After his remark that California’s Kamala Harris was the “best-looking attorney general in the country” sparked controversy, President Obama apologized for what some deemed to be a sexist comment, and what others argued was a dumb, but harmless, compliment.

The president called Harris to apologize for the comments hours after he made them on Thursday during a San Francisco fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee, according to White House spokesman Jay Carney.

“They are old friends and good friends and he did not want in any way to diminish the attorney general's professional accomplishments and her capabilities,” Carney said Friday at a White House briefing.

At the fundraiser, Obama called out Harris along with several other Democratic leaders in California.

“You have to be careful to, first of all, say she is brilliant and she is dedicated and she is tough, and she is exactly what you’d want in anybody who is administering the law, and making sure that everybody is getting a fair shake,” the president said. “She also happens to be, by far, the best looking attorney general in the country.”

President Obama apologized to Kamala Harris for his controversial comment.

When the crowd started laughing, the president added, “It’s true! C’mon.”

The comments made even typically ardent Obama supporters cringe. Political strategist James Carville, no stranger to making controversial statements, advised Obama to be more cautious.

“Look, I’m a 68-year-old guy and I do notice honestly the way that women look sometimes, but you’ve got to learn to sort of keep your opinions to yourself,” Carville said on MSNBC’s “Jansing & Co.”

Jonathan Chait of New York Magazine said the way women continue to be judged by their looks makes it tough to reach gender equality in the workforce.

“It’s not a compliment. And for a president who has become a cultural model for many of his supporters in so many other ways, the example he’s setting here is disgraceful,” he wrote in an article headlined, "Obama in Need of Gender-Sensitivity Training."

But others came to Obama’s defense, demanding the nation ease up on its need to be politically correct all the time.

“Lighten up, people,” wrote Jonathan Capehart of the Washington Post.

“You’d swear the president was guilty of luridly cat-calling a woman he doesn’t know,” he said.

Politico’s media reporter Dylan Byers asked in a tweet, “How did it become so difficult to call a woman good looking in public?”

During a discussion on the topic Friday on TODAY, celebrity guest Liza Minnelli said she didn’t see anything wrong with what Obama said.

“He can’t say she’s pretty?” she said. “When this lovely woman gets up in the morning and looks in the mirror and puts on her makeup and does her hair, don’t you think she wants to be attractive and wants to be thought of as attractive? She’s not doing that for no reason.”

Get over it leftist. Nobody cares about what you think or take offense to anymore. It's just feigned outrage, an act that went out of style with Obama.

Funny. There have been no industrial job gains in the Midwest--GM has announced plant closings--and meantime since the election EVERYONE has become quite well aware of what a corrupt, lying, ignorant douchbag Trump is. He's lost a lot of support--and for good reason. He'll still win traditional red states, but not by nearly as much--and he'll get thumped in battleground states next time. It's not at all clear that Trump will even make it to the next election.

hmm.  Seems you are just saying sh1t.

"The Trump boom is benefiting those left behind by the Obama economy. Manufacturing jobs grew at the fastest rate in 23 years and the unemployment rate for Americans without a high school diploma reached the lowest point ever recorded. The Wall Street Journal reports that wages rose 3.1 percent -- the biggest jump since 2009 -- and that "low-skilled workers are among the biggest beneficiaries."

LOL. trump boom. Always good for a laugh. There is no part of this country that is better off, except the rich and big business. No way he gets in after the Mueller probe gets out. Oh, and all those House investigative committees will be the topping. Gonna be a good year.

My guys got a 4.5% raise and are griping about all the overtime I am asking them to work. When an average electrician is knocking down 50-75K plus bonuses, and the helpers are making 35K plus bonuses, I would call that a good economy. I cannot find qualified electricians to hire. They are in demand and making bank right now. Compare that to companies laying off employees and shutting down when Obama and his fellow Socialist were intentionally killing our economy. I say intentionally, because after watching 5-6 years of Obama in action, I can't say it was just bad policy or planning, it seemed to be intentional.

I support Trump, but, if anyone thinks our economy is doing well, they're wrong.............

Factories are not coming back - hasn't happened and won't happen............Our economy is slowing and will continue to slow..........Where's the bottom?.........Hard-to-tell............But, it's lower, that's for sure............

The last fed raise was way too much.  They stopped printing money long ago.  We have an endless supply of jobs in our area, anyone can find as much work as they want.

"In 2018 it looks as though the president is winning the day. Industrial output is on a tear, and the last few months have seen the best run for growth in manufacturing jobs since the late 1990s.  After spending about two decades on a steady march downwards, manufacturing’s share of the labour market appears to have all but stopped falling. Between 1948 and 2008, manufacturing employment fell as a share of private non-farm employment by around 0.4 percentage points each year (see chart). Since January 2010 it has fallen by only 0.3 points in total."

You really think how your business is doing has anything to do with the US economy as a whole? If so, we should have a new economic indicator......The Woody quotient. All economic forecasts will be based on how Woody's electric is doing. Apple falling way short on expectations reveals nothing next to The Woody Quotient.

Apple falling short of expectations is because of the economic downturn in China. I have never met anyone so sure of himself and so ignorant of the issues at the same time.

Apple fell short in China because China's economy is going on super struggle.  Buckling under the tariffs we have imposed in our efforts to get to a fair trade deal.

Apple could have easily replaced those sales by US consumers, if the fed would have only had 3 rate raises last years.  That 4th rate raise was a bridge to far.

Hopefully what has played out will wake the fed up.  Standing with the brake pedal mashed to the floor while we are rectifying our trade imbalances makes no sense.

Apple's revised projections downward is just part of a bigger picture.............Global growth is slowing.............

Today's manufacturing number was poor...........Blaming the Fed for raising rates is simply not understanding the economic currents..........

Starting to see more of these kind of earnings misses..........The red flags are showing up more-and-more...........And, they didn't just start showing up..........

Quote:

Cargill said its profit fell 20% in the most recent period as the agricultural conglomerate recorded weaker results from its food ingredients business and financial operations.

Cargill, the Minneapolis-based closely held company, said profit in the quarter ended Nov. 30 fell to $741 million from $924 million in the year-earlier period.

While I can't go into detail, I've alluded to the fact that my wife and I tomorrow, will invest pretty big time in the stock market.  What I haven't mentioned is that the wife, due to the tax cuts and her company's reinvestment in its personnel was offered a chance to become a partner where she works.  The wife has taken on several challenges and has stepped every time so management wanted to make her an offer that few get.  Today, her acceptance was confirmed.  Tomorrow we meet and she will take the next step in her career.  That involves us putting money in while her employer is going way out of the way to help.  She works for such a good company but they are not hip to making this stuff public so I can't say who they are.  I will say that it has been made clear that this opportunity is directly due to the cuts.

For us, and I can't speak for anyone else, we feel blessed and know that our President has enabled us to have this opportunity.

Agree.  Overall world is slowing down.  China and Europe in particular.

Just apple could have ridden over the China slowdown, this projection release, if they were picking up US sales, which they would have done, had it not been for fed rate increase.

The stock market reacted negatively to the report of Apple's falling earnings. You can make all the excuses you want. We are dependent on global economics, something the orange haze would do well to understand.
