There were obviously many more partial offers/ interest from p5 (ASU, etc) and non p5 as well as full's from smaller schools (LMU, Fullerton, those type of schools). Despite all the interest, I believe she only gave permission to contact to only two schools (U of Arizona, who offered full due to her potential and ace experience - said she would be a good complement to the lefty, McQuillin, and was believed to be a potential shout out pitcher, with a few tips and tweaks. And Cal, who also offered full due to their team's desperate need for all and any help they can get after this past season). Ultimately, her plan was to go to U of A, but it seems like she decided it was too hard to leave CA, and decided to go the academic route, even if the team didn't do well last year.

Honestly, I don't know what I would do in this situation if I were her. I can imagine it was tough deciding between one of the best softball schools in the nation - far from home, and one of the best academic school in the nation - closer to her comfort zone. I think she would've had more success at Arizona because the team would've backed her up more and the coaching alone from Candrea would have made her into a new beast, just like he did for O'toole. I think at Cal she will struggle and have to work extremely hard along side Conley if they plan to even attempt winning some games, esp if they don't have solid hitting and fielding behind them.

Personally, I would've said hell and picked Arizona, to become a better ball player and bragging rights lol. (also wouldn't want to be on the other side of the diamond from them) /// She just came from a team with no hitting at all, she would've been in heaven at U of Arizona with those bats!

Y'all think a degree/education from a certain school (Cal) is worth a player giving up a chance for a player to play for the best, with the best, and unlock their true potential?
I feel bad dissecting her life like this, but that's college sports for you. Best wishes to her either way.

I'd respectfully agree with your dissection. As a Cat fan, would've loved to have seen some help in the circle this year. Still not convinced how successful she would've been, but at least she would've had support. Not a fan of lib-tard Cal, but understand the academic draw. Softball will only take her so far and sadly have to admit a degree from Cal would carry more weight. Wish her the best of luck.

Being fat has never improved a player's ability...at best, they can work around it.  Any player who is good while fat, would be better without it.

I LOLed at all the Brittney Gray "oh, she took up boxing in the offseason" commentator stories told, every time she was in the circle.  Perhaps so, and I'm sure her regimen helped her....but not as much if she had also lost 30 pounds or so.

Rationalize all you like (and you will).   Fat is fat.

So she was able to get into Cal but didn't qualify for AZ? Care to clarify

Believe it or not but a source within the UofA said her grades kept her from joining the Wildcats.

Isn't it possible that, despite an acceptable grade average, some classes from Fresno State wouldn't transfer to Arizona, leaving her short of "on track" mandates, but would to Cal?  I could be confused, but aren't the official names separate school of University of California (Berkeley or Fresno)?

I understand that here in Georgia any course taken within the "University System", no matter what school, is automatically accepted as transfer credits, even if that course (or major) doesn't exist at the new school.  Is it different in Cali?

Not sure if this addresses your possible confusion but Cal is UC system. Fresno is Cal State system.

If she was academically qualified to get into Cal, she easily could have gotten into Arizona.

This grades debacle is almost as bad as when the ASU recruit said in a flo softball article that her dream school was UW but she couldn't make it academically so she went to ASU instead.

UW fairly tough to get into. ASU a joke.
