Why would Sprang have stayed? It looked like a toxic environment, hope she does well at OSU!

Which is one of the reasons why I doubt they ever win a national championship. But then, I doubted Lonnie would ever get one, so what do I know?

You guys are assuming A LOT about why she was released just because you saw her struggles in the circle. I’m privy to some details, but as they are third party details, i won’t print them here. But my understanding is that the move was not completely performance based. I just hope the remainder of the young lady’s college career is everything she wants it to be. I’m not making any assumptions about how that discussion and release went and i encourage you to not to either.

As so many Tennessee transfers have done in the past, she will have a career at OSU and Tennessee will be in the top 15 every year and in the mix come Super Regional time.

Thats a big pick up for Minnesota. She hit over almost at .300 with 12 home runs as a true freshman.

Also it's a baseball school and I'm curious to see if her boyfriend, who plays baseball, will transfer to OSU.

Just out of curiosity, what did Sprang do last season that would lead you to conclude that she will be an "ACE" for OSU next season? I did not follow Tennessee softball closely, but thought she under performed based on expectations coming out of HS.

I didn't see her pitch at all last year at Tennessee so I don't know the details but I've seen her pitch plenty in PGF ball and she has the talent to be an Ace.

You know, it's pretty funny there was all this backlash about kids transferring out and not giving their new coach a chance, but zero talk so far about these coaches that are securing transfers (Kansas, Syracuse) and then bolting on them after.

History is full of pitchers who appeared to have the talent to be an ACE at ASA/PGF then struggled in college...Sprang is tall and left handed, but her velocity has not increased since she was 14, she does not have a great change up and she struggles with her control when she tried to find the extra umpff she needed to be successful in the SEC.  Maybe the Big 12 will be a better fit for her.

I think it's important to remember that these coaches have lives outside of softball and so do players and sometimes they have to do what is best for them so placing judgement on both coaches that leave and players that transfer doesn't do anyone any good because we don't know the situation at hand. It is a lot easier to judge from outside without knowing the whole story...

Good point. More than a couple of these incoming Freshman pitchers many are drooling over didn't fair to well @ PGF.

I will admit one thing, OSU is not known for making improvements with Pitchers should they have flaws in their game.

Shoot, yeah! Sprang didn't fare so well in the SEC, but she'll be a 30-game winner in the B12. *eyeroll*

I saw Brandner play enough.

That said, yes, I believe Sprang will at least double her win total
