Don't blame Good for the schedule. She only pitches to whoever steps into the box. And JMUs schedule only looks weaker because they're beating the crap out of everybody. Her win against Auburn was a beat down and the 1-0 score wasn't even close. Auburn is lucky they don't face her more often. Same goes for MZ. She is easily one of the top 3 pitchers in the country on ANY team. Their upcoming conference games will be a cakewalk any game she is pitching. For JMU to advance in the post season she will most likely have to pitch almost every inning. She's getting plenty of rest now so she should be fine barring an injury. JMUs problem is they have no reliable #2, at least not yet.

3left I agree the body of work should be a factor. Both her SEC wins are a pretty good indicator for any team. Time will tell but if JMU stays strong, it will be on her back so, given a collapse she should be in any convesations about POY I would think.

You say don't blame her for the schedule. I say, don't blame SEC or Pac pitchers for THEIR schedules

It is simply a totally different animal. Much, much easier to pile up numbers with that schedule.

Last year, Carley Hoover had TWENTY-FIVE outings and 17 decisions (10-7) against teams that finished in the Top 25 in RPI. Good had four (2-2).

Release the Harrisonburg hounds...lol

Ok here comes the hounds as best I can...

In another post you say she has never done it....Last year in Super's vs LSU she pitched 12.2 innings over 3 games in 2 days...one of those games she came in with little to no warmup due to an injury....She gave up 3 runs on 7 hits...I think that isn't to bad..

UF/LSU and other top schools with top pitcher's don't have to face to many more batter's than Good would have to bc they have "staffs" so not sure the argument she doesn't have to face monster hitters 6 7 or 8 times is all that good of one.

Not to pick on Auburn's best hitter bc everyone knows how GREAT she is but she got 3 abs vs Good and each one got a little worse for her....Not sure 7 or 8 ab's against her will going to get her that much better..That being said I do agree, the more Ab's the better the hitter's chances are..

In 2 games vs Aurburn and Mizz this year she gave up 3 hits...2 didn't get to the outfield as they were miss hits over 1st and 3rd and the other was a ground ball that bounced (clean) over the 1st baseman's head...with out looking I would be willing to bet JMU's outfield didn't have 3 putouts in those 2 games.  She dominated in those games no matter how you look at it...So if Auburn had 1 miss hit against Good, what is it likely to do with another game or 2????  If they get 5 times the amount of hits they would have 5 hits and maybe or maybe not score..

If she doesn't win the player of the year (not saying she should but can't have the conversation with out her)  It will be bc the schedule...And I believe that is fair...There is nothing she will be able to do to overcome that..

Maybe we can have a SEC and PAC 12 POW and then a POW for everyone else...that would make Robo coach happy!! BC no one can play the schedule they do..

Mighty solid.

No doubt

And, she is great. Not disputing that

But I am giving that sort of top award to someone with 8+ weekends of 12+ IP against those hitters and the three or fewer runs allowed

And, don't get me wrong.... she absolutely could one-man-gang this team to OKC

That's the hope.

One thing that JMU will have to their advantage is if it's one game there's no chance JMU will start the wrong pitcher...Some of the top teams will have to choose which (great) pitcher to throw in regards to match ups etcs.

I saw that at PGF in 2013 with the Bandits against the SoCal A's....

They had Betsa, Hoover and Alvelo as the staff.

Betsa didn't have her best start. Hoover struck out like 12 in the final six shutout innings, but it was too late

Yes Hoover, but either of those two.  Again, I'm not the coach, but either Hoover or Alvelo would've been the better start.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that was the year Betsa had won ASA with the Vipers just a week before?

Yes, Ocasio's team had it won, I believe, but some bizarre illegal pitch or somethingorother in Clearwater screwed em....IIRC .... maybe my favorite jr on the board can clarify by memory. Here is the box score:

http://pointstreak.com/baseball/boxscore.html?gameid=163137

Betsa logged 28 innings in those four days of stifling humidity

Alvelo STONED my DD's team out of the winners bracket that Thursday afternoon with 11K. whew

I thought that was a real good tourney....Maybe the last best ASA GOLD tourney they had...

Taran A was very good that week...The Vipers got to her in one game, wish she would have had a chance to face them again but the Bandits fell short in the loser's bracket...

The little I saw Betsa that week she was also very very good.

To be clear, the 'stoning' by Alvelo I was referencing was in the Thursday afternoon winners bracket game at the 2013 PGF
