No Ocasio or Kvistad.

Ocasio was a Top 3 NPOY candidate in 2015. I have a strong feeling she's back in Top 10 at least this year.

LOL.  Goes to show you how political these nominations are.  There are several names on this list that make you scratch your head and say "really?"  Who picks this list and what is the criteria that they use?  Some of the girls listed deserve to be on the list but the honor of them being selected is diluted by the listing of several other girls who have no business being nominated.

Kvistad seems to always get the short end of the stick.

Offer in the biggest series of her career, that alone would make me hesitant to put her on a POY list

It easier to list the names of the girls who I think don't deserve to be on the list.  FWIW, I have seen all of the girls that I have listed play so I am not just putting names based upon the school that they happen to attend.  The girls that I don't think should be on the watch list are: Becker, Cox, Carlson, Harper, Lindaman, McQuillan, Mulupola, Vidales, Walljasper, Rupp, Horton and Emanuel.  There are some other girls that I could possibly add after I watch them play this year.

I didn't watch the championship series last year. I didn't know KK was hit less.

They weren't smart enough to have Warren at the tryout that was a home run distance from her home, but smart enough to put her on this list of 50 at least

Harper absolutely deserves to be on that list.

There are a few there on wilmer's diss list who clearly deserve to be on, but I'm not gonna mention names, and have it look like I am ripping the kids I don't mention

Houlihan and Parlich are great players, but neither one is as good as Dwyer (76 rbi last year).  Dwyer's omission is... puzzling.

0-9, 2 BB, 1 RBI, 3 K, 3 LOB

Honestly for KK to have those numbers and Florida to still hang in there with Oklahoma for 24 innings was rather remarkable.

Haeger had similar (but better) numbers in OKC in 2014 and 2015 turned out alright for her. KK is a fighter and will be better this year from that experience.

If this Top 50 committee didn't select her b/c of how last year ended, that's foolish. How does a 2nd team AA senior on one of the best teams in the country not make a Top 50 list? lol

And, Emily Lochten.... What a stud. Could play catcher, or shortstop at a high P5 level

How many college kids Team USA invite to tryouts? How many of those same kids didn't make their own Top 50 watch list?

Ye, that makes sense.

I count 13 of the 50 were invited to that tryout.

Now, some, not sure of the number but at least two, play for other national teams

An Intern @ USA Softball must ave put this list together:

Mulipola/AZ: .212 in Conference BA, 2HR against only PAC 12 team NOT to make NCAA. On list

Jenna Cone/George Washington: Atlantic 10. .395 BA, 18HR. On list.

Gwen Svekis/OR: .237 in Conference, 5HR. NOT on list

So Svekis bests Mulipola in most every in Conference category and is argueably the top Catcher in the Country. And has been invited to National Team tryouts at least the last 2 years if I'm correct.

And the most puzzling pick?..Jenna Cone. Hey man, kid had a nice first year but lets be honest. If Svekis had played in the Atlantic 10 against those power house teams like George Mason, Georgetown & Bethune Cookman. Not to mention hitting against those stud Atlantic 10 Pitchers..she would've been arrested for Battery. And the one Stat that flys off the page: Putouts...Cone 117, Svekis 373.

And we're watching for what??

What I'm really curious to see is how Creighton and Sanders perform in the PAC. The question has been raised many times over the years about SOS, and while I don't think this will be definitive without question, it will be interesting to see the results.

IMO, Craighton over/under 12 HRs and Sanders O/U 14

Craighton plays in a hitters-miracle bandbox and Sanders plays in a pitcher's paradise.

This season, Arizona plays a ...good....schedule. Oregon plays a top-5 schedule

Oklahoma has the most players on the list with five: Clifton, Knighten, Lowary, Parker and Romero.

I think I would have chosen both Mendes and Pendley before Romero.
Don't get me wrong. Syd is an excellent player, but I will not be surprised if Mendes & Pendley have better seasons.

And how could they possibly leave Lea Wodach off this list (for her amazing bunting talents alone)?

; )

Oregon has 4 players: Balint, Kleist, Mack and Sanders.
Arizona has 4 players: McQuillin, Mulipola, Craighton and Harper.

Minnesota has 3 players: Lindaman, Parlich and Houlihan.

Surprised to see Florida with just 2 players: Barnhill and Lorenz.

I'm not watching the list.

Svekis may be the best in the universe. We'll see, so let's wait. You're bashing the Atlantic 10. Do you bash Sun Belt and ULL? They're pretty good...

It's pre-season fodder.

For starters I'm a Svekis fan so, admittedly bias.

Not so much bashing Atlantic 10 as much as the Intern who put the list together.

Don't recall bashing Sun Belt or ULL lately but if you want to provide some similar asinine thoughts like the USA Softball Intern, I'll take a crack at it.

Lists like these are good if you print them out and use them to line your birdcage. That's about it. I detest that these lists and the nfca aa etc rely so heavily on stats, when stats are so heavily dependent on the schedule you play. (This list is even worse because it relies on stats for the previous year).

Jessica Warren wasn't even rated by any softball recruiting outlet, have heard she wasn't recruited till her senior year.
