Peace offering, lets just talk about Maryland softball on this topic thread. No more personal insults against each other. Y'all cool with this?

Yes......now please continue to tell us what a dumpster fire the Maryland program is and what you're going to do to fix it.....

I've always talked about the Maryland softball team in this forum. This team has like 41 wins I think total in 3 seasons. That is not good. I've never said that I could fix the program but there are a lot of things that need to happen to fix all the problems within it!

If I hear about certain stuff happening (good or bad) within the program I'm going to talk about it. Don't put the blame on me, blame the individuals that are doing and allow the stuff to happen!

Nah, please go back to the name hurling and the insults.  Much more fun then talking about the dismal Terp softball program.

It wasn't always that way.  See Courtney's only year coaching there in 2015.

I'm down with that, don't think I know you well enough, nor have I hurled an insult at you.  I usually observe and I am a product of the abuse and insults hurled at me, throughout my 11 years here.

Seems like you may have created your own persona among Maryland faithful, of your own making.  I know of an alum who posts here and miscellaneous forum, often, who seems to have issues with men coaches in general and sometimes we wonder what fuels her anger towards men.  My daughter played D1 ball and she could not have succeeded as she did without the help of men coaches throughout her 15 years of softball.  In college she played for a successful program under a successful ex-player.  Now if you want a woman coach just for the sake of having a woman coach, the Maryland program would seem to spotlight the fact that that tactic doesn't always work.

I’m most definitely a man by the way. I don’t care if the coach is a male or female, can the coach win games and can that coach lead the players and actually discipline and punish the bad ones that deserve it. That is all I look for in a coach!

I'll leave you guys alone over here and check in next year to see if this program has their team headed in the right direction

It’s confirmed now, Brigette just posted a new opening bio on her instagram page that says NC State softball 2020. She has officially left the Terps, wow. I’m still shocked that she is gone. I wonder what happened for her to want to leave? I always thought her and Kufta was Coach Wright favorites!

I’m just happy that these players are deciding to leave this team and that they have the confidence to move on and transfer to other schools/teams. It looks like these former players are not going to waste their final years of eligibility anymore just to keep their scholarship and stay here as students. I’m so happy for them. I wonder if all these moves will finally force one of these scared a$$ reporters to ask Coach Wright why are all of these players constantly leaving your team after every season!

The word I got is that Maryland is considerably softening up their schedule this year. It is put up or get out for Wright. Stay tuned until the schedule comes out but they are in desperation mode now.

These 'scared a$$' reporters you speak of are mostly 19-21 year old 'kids' writing for a school newspaper. Maybe you should lay off, especially considering you have now typed that same thing at least 10x on this board.

They really can’t soften up their Big ten schedule unless they are allowed to play Rutgers 8 times, hahaha. I’m guessing this means that they will cut down on all of the February and early March non conference tournaments that they start the season with. That is actually a good thing for this team. They should’ve been cut down to just 2 or 3 tourneys to start the season instead of going the full 5 every year which always put this team into a huge win-loss hole to start the season!

I’m talking about all the reporters in this area, not just the Diamondback. You shouldn’t be scared to ask a coach why players are leaving your team in droves every season. You think Turgeon didn’t getting these questions, Frese, Edsall, Durkin, etc. They ask all the coaches about this stuff but they never ask her about this. That is why I say that they are scared, like they wanna stay in her good graces. Treat her like you treat all of the other Maryland coaches. That is all!

She coaches softball. The other coaches you named don't. No one at any local newspaper/news source is scared of coach Wright. They just don't care, and honestly they shouldn't.

Okay, so if upcoming juniors or seniors was constantly leaving the women’s lacrosse, field hockey, soccer, volleyball or basketball team every season, you think these reporters wouldn’t talk about it. Of course they would. Players have left the volleyball team because their coach left and the diamondback has reported about that. When women’s b-ball players have transferred they’ve talked about that and asked Frese questions about this stuff. Y’all gotta stop making excuses and giving all these passes to her!

Why don't you email all the reporters in the area, and all the sports editors, and report back how many responses you get.

I’m not doing that Narrator. All I said earlier was that I wonder if all these moves would finally force a reporter to ask Coach Wright about all of these players constantly leaving her team every season and then all of a sudden some random poster came in here mad about that question!

Well, they probably don't know about it.  Maybe if you let them know, they might look into it.

Yeah TerpAlum, I hope NC State did some background checks on her before they agreed to this!

Come on Narrator, these former players (until this year) are still at the same university that they played at taking classes and still on scholarship. They are still on campus walking around everyday. How hard would it be for these reporters that covered the team for the diamondback, testudo times and the left bench to find out about this information. They know, they just don’t wanna look into it!

TerpAlum, I'll bet there are a couple of girls on the club team that are better than what's on Maryland's team. MD's team is not that good. I've heard the local players that Wright has recruited from that one team that has folded, are getting next to nothing to come there, except for the pitcher, who would be mediocre at best in D1.

It still amazes me how these kids, who are of limited talent and are offered peanuts, think it is such a big deal to sign up for Maryland. I guess it's the lure of taking some nice trips and not realizing that they will be stuck in the bullpen or on the end of the bench.

We have let it go for 28 pages, and I know some people are going to be mad at me, but I just can't hold it in any longer.

THIS STUFF HAPPENS EVERYWHERE!  NO ONE CARES ABOUT SOFTBALL IN THE OUTSIDE WORLD!

That week long "Spring Break" trip prior to the season every year is a real team bonding experience no player should miss out on.

Certainly done wonders for the Maryland program.

I'm not a random poster. I'm a longtime lurker who has gotten tired of your constant repeating and excessive exclamation points like many others. I have (had) plenty of time around the program (saw you in your spot above the home dugout many of times...) before moving on to greener pastures. I'm not opposed to someone asking Wright the questions you want asked, but A). 19-21 year old kids aren't the right ones to do it, and B). No one cares other than us.

That Spring preseason practice run is totally useless. The results or lack of them proves that point. It shows that when you don't know what you are doing you try things that sound like they will help. She's no longer a big fish in a little pond.

So a college reporter who has covered the team in the past shouldn’t be the one to ask her why certain players are no longer on the team? That makes zero sense. Your job as a reporter is to ask questions, not to be a coaches friend!

Ohhh. You want to know why the players are no longer on the team.

I can answer that:

1. They didn't like the coach
2. They weren't getting the playing time
3. They weren't winning
4. They were dealing with bullies as teammates
5. Better opportunities available (Arkansas....)

Anything else you need to know?
