I'm happy for her barkbox. She will be the 1st player to actually leave and transfer to another school instead of staying at Maryland to continue their education. I hope there is a way that she could somehow end up at Arkansas since she is from there. That would be classic!

Here's the body count so far: Graves, Denhart, Cross, Nordberg. Seniors Pascal, Ellizar, Henderson, and one year transfer Weirahiko. That's a grand total of 8 including their best pitcher and 6 of their top 7 hitters. This is a bad team that just got worse. Combine this with all of the other players pushed out and you can see the travesty here. It all starts at the top and this experiment has failed. You can't come in and bully people around while trying to step up a level in your career. It's hard to see a great school like Maryland have such a crap show going on.

Those are confirmed??! Very surprised about Nordberg. She was a favorite and one of the bad news ring leaders.
Cross was one of the kids that as a freshman, showed herself to be somewhat surprised at the coach’s tactics. Glad to see whe is escaping tthe craziness.

Well the seniors and the transfer actually graduated and played their final season (unlike the past ones) so I wouldn't put them on the body count list. I put those 4 (especially the 3 seniors that played here for 4 years) on the survivors list

I'm shocked that BN is on this list. I'm guessing if she is gone it probably wasn't the coaches call. Maybe she did something so bad that it is impossible to cover it up and you had to let her go!

Cross is a good kid. Sad to see that she could not put up with the insane asylum. The Denhart kid came up with a lame excuse to leave. Not sure why Nordberg left but it's all got to be part of the culture of bullying down there. As for Graves, she has been broken for a while. The team for the upcoming season might be so bad that JW might quit to save herself from embarrassment.

We will not know the official truth until fall ball starts and the roster comes out. All of this stuff is just pure speculation right now.

I doubt that BN left because of bullying because rumor has it that she was one of the main people doing the bullying!

Aaron, we don't have to wait for Fall. They are gone. Out the door. Arrivederci, adios amigo. They have their releases. MD now has 2 pitchers and no NLI signees at that spot. It's an impossible situation, especially with all of the negative press out there.

Wow. The only good thing that might come out of this situation is that the coach might finally decide to leave the team before her contract runs out because this team looks like a complete trainwreck for next season with all of these departures!

aarong3000 the seniors had to survive if they wanted to keep their schollies and get the diploma.  No one will take a transfer, especially a senior from an under performing school - Wright could not get rid of them!

Arkansas won its first game in the tournament and Bethune-Cookman is also playing. Nice to see the former coaches and their new teams doing well. Going to find something positive to watch for awhile!

Arkansas just won again and is a win away from going to the Super regionals, wow. Deifel has won 41 games this season and that is tied for the amount of wins that the Terps has totaled these past 3 seasons.

You always have to wonder what could've been if this athletic department would've had a clue and put some type of effort to try to keep her here more than one season!

She may have seen the writing on the wall re: the shambles that is UM”s athletics department. A raise may not have kept her in College Park.

I'm happy for her also manspudnik. She has completely changed around that program. They was basically the Rutgers of the SEC before she came there!

That’s not ENTIRELY true — Arkansas had been in the NCAAT in both 2012 and 2013, even taking a game off of top-seeded Cal in 2012 —but it’s not entirely wrong, either. It was absolutely a program in decline. She has come in and done a complete turnaround of the program ... with many of the same players who were already on campus.

I hope the Arkansas AD realizes what he has and gives Deifel and her staff a healthy raise.

Yep, couldn't agree with you both more.  And yes, it most definitely is.  The fact of the matter is if they can't see the issues with the current bleeding/exodus of starters, hence complete validation of the other girls, their claims, everything everyone has said, told them, or otherwise, and systematic dismantling of whatever level they were or could of been, to what end, then it's hopeless.   Completely mind-boggling.  And wrong for so many on every level.   Not your usual mess that is for sure and somewhat unnecessary.....it's gone beyond at least my limited "pea-brain".  LMAO

Yeah I don't know what else has to happen for people to realize that this program is a complete trainwreck right now. How many more players have to leave this program in droves, etc. Hopefully the new AD that they hire will finally look into all of this stuff that has been happening with this program, on and off the field!

Congrats to Coach Deifel and Arkansas for winning their Regional today. They are headed to the Super Regionals, wow. Man I hate dumba$$ Kevin Anderson and this athletic department. Arkansas will definitely reward her with a nice pay raise this offseason!

There’s no way Diefel would have stayed in College Park. She’s good at what she does — she worked miracles with the team she had the year she was here — and if you had the chance to coach in the premier softball conference with great facilities and a wonderful college town to live in, what would you choose? It would have taken more than a raise to keep her in CP... It’s discouraging, yes, but makes perfect sense. I guess that’s why I’m not spending any energy bemoaning “what might have been.” I like watching her do well and look forward to seeing what happens next.

I agree with you FromAway, I think Diefel's aspired to the SEC and/or ACC at the time and Arkansas was perfect for her.

She definitely earned her way to this spot because Arkansas was at the complete bottom of the SEC when she arrived there. I wonder if she had any regrets after her first season there. There was no way that she could've left another team again after just one season. She would've got black-balled big time.

She climbed back to the top with the players that was already there and is now in the Super regionals. One of the greatest 3 year turnarounds that I've ever seen in any sport!

Really impressed with the job she's done.  Arkansas was a dumpster fire the year before she arrived.  I remember watching a few of their games and it was downright embarrassing.

Maybe they had issues all season and it reached its boiling point on senior weekend. Sky probably realized that she is graduating and won't have to deal with any punishment so she reacted and had enough of the BS!
