‘No error is charged if the fielder drops a ball after running a considerable distance to catch it, or if she fails in her attempt to catch it while running at a high rate of speed”

Only a true MD fan such as yourself would be lamenting a victory Sorry it didn’t work out for you

Lucky or not, it’s still a win dipsh*t.

Hahaha, you are mad at me because I quoted what they posted on their website. People are so damn sensitive and of course my stalker has posted on here. I call it like I see it, it was a lucky win today. Don't be mad at me because they went extra innings and down to the last out against Murray State!

Or it could be an actual double like it was scored as. In any sense starting the season 2-3 isn’t that bad.

I love the comment above where they aren’t going to say anything negative about the girls and the very next sentence is they don’t belong in the Big 10. I get it you all hate JW and maybe rightfully so. The constant ripping on the players and their performance is out of line.

I don’t think anybody is ripping the players. It’s more about the coach and the position she has put this program in!

As a father of a catcher/outfielder I hate it when a father of a pitcher complains about a ball that is pitched dead red, crushed and an outfielder makes an attempted catch at the warning track and drops it and blames the outfielder! Might have been a bit on the yellow though, who knows.

Maybe then you should have rephrased it to say "the coach doesn't belong coaching in the Big 10" not "they don't belong in the Big 10"

I can attest to a tradition in the program to never lose to a small school, which we upheld (and when Alabama started playing us, to keep it close on top D1s). The record should be 3-1.

Another walkfest because of poor coaching. Saying just throw strikes never works.

Peace out.

Yes, those are comparative plays...

I have no problem with an on-the-run ball off the glove.  But too many SB OFs have a fear of the warning track and fence, and even when they get there in plenty of time to make a play on the ball, they often turn a well hit but fairly routine ball into a hit or (should be) error.  I see way too many of those types of balls being treated as hits.

My recap. Maryland beats a lousy Mid-Major team twice, as expected. They have no business being on the field with Alabama, as expected. The real story is about the Troy games and Maryland is far behind them. Troy is a decent Mid-Major and Maryland struggled against them. I find it interesting that with the departure of Tori Tyson, Sami Main and Sydney Golden do not look like the pitchers they were last year. Hiring an inexperienced pitching coach is problematic. On another note, I understand the starters that transferred out of Maryland are doing quite well in there new locations.

Yeah, the most shocking thing for them this weekend was the Troy losses, especially getting run-ruled in their 2nd game. Golden is definitely struggling so far and you can tell that she is missing her longtime pitching coach Tyson. Sami is pitching but this is her first time being a regular starter as a senior. I don’t know what happened with Denhart but that is the one player loss that is going to hurt them the most this season. I almost forgot about Graves, wow. The new pitching coach has a lot on her plate this season!

Sophomore pitcher Ryan Denhart (1-0) got the win in the circle at GCU against San Diego State.

Graves at Arkansas which swept their tourney this past weekend.

Must feel good.

Yeah, so much talent left this team this offseason and we all know who we can blame for that!

I was at the game, and the Murray State OF definitely dropped the ball on the run. The Murray 2B also neglected to cover 1B on a ground ball that would have ended the game as well.

Whoever made the Terps non conference schedule did a great job. They should definitely enter their Big ten schedule with a winning record!

I might’ve spoke too soon about that easy non-conference schedule. Houston just scored 8 straight runs to run rule the Terps 12-4 in 5 innings. The pitching completely collapsed in that inning!

Houston is usually a good team. Heebner a good talent in the circle and at the plate for them.

it looks like the pitching issues are going to be a year long problem. Maryland just lost to Portland State 13-8, wow.

When is Watten's, I mean Wright's contract up. Know 2 who want to play there and I want her gone before they arrive. Asking for a friend.

I’m going to be honest, I never had a problem with Watten until her final season when the team completely collapsed under her. I kinda understand what happened though, she lost all of her top players that led her to the NCAA tourneys and had to coach a bunch of freshmen and sophomores and they suffered the worst record in the programs history.

She should’ve realized that she was dealing with freshman and sophomores and it was going to take time to rebuild the program again!

Maryland is now a competitive mid Mid Major team. Shows improvement.

Yeah, this team would be great in a mid major conference. They can beat the lower level teams. The big problem is that eventually they have to play their Big ten schedule and will probably finish in the bottom along with Rutgers, as usual!

They can beat Rutgers and MSU.

True. The Big 10 is a failing conference.

I think it’s too early to call it a failing conference TruDat. You have to remember that all of the teams are on the road because of the cold Midwest/eastern weather. Plus every big conference has a few bottom feeding teams!

Indiana, Illinois, Northwestern, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Nebraska are all programs on the rise who will at least make the NCAA tourney this year. Minnesota is still a great team that will be towards the top of the conference this year. Even though Michigan is down this year, they'll still make the tourney.
Combine that with the fact that even teams like Purdue and Iowa are better this year than last.
The big 10 is significantly stronger this year than last. The only two truly bad teams are Michigan State and Penn State.
