She gave up three earned runs in a  one inning relief inning the prior weekend which blew it up somewhat, but Texas pitchers have been pretty kind to the Cajuns over the years.

Like i said...the 2nd/3rd tier Cal girls go to UT. The 1st tier go to OU.

That’s true. Walton gets anyone he wants in the state of Florida. FSU gets what’s left. Fortunately their are a lot of good players in the state after UF takes theirs.

Yep, and LA is good at going with what she gets.  King (don't kill me 3LT) wasn't a world beater in TB, but she's been pretty good for FSU (at least better than I expected).

I figured, but you did make me think back fondly on Stefni Whitton, Kyla Hall, Brooke Mitchell, and Jordan Wallace.

I agree. Like I said there are a lot of good players in Florida. It’s not uncommon to have USF, UCF and FAU in the top 40 also. FSU has plenty of good talent.

Great names. And have always been a fan of BM! Easily one of my top 25 pitchers. Also sad that Kyla is gone from the coaching game.

Actually, Texas hadn't, until recently, produced sufficient numbers of the caliber of players that Gasso looks for. Nicole Mendes is an exception, of course. Maybe the best all-around player in the country.  OU had another Texas girl last season, but freshman Alissa Dalton was unwilling or unable to get to practice on a regular basis, so Patty had to let her go. I believe she's matured some and gotten those issues behind her and is now contributing mightily for ULL. Alissa had/has a chance to be a special player; that's why Patty signed her originally.

If I am not mistaken, Connie is in the last year of her contract.  Texas typically grants a contract extension prior to a coach getting to their last year as they know good and well that creates a lame duck situation and affects recruiting adversely.

So, if the above is true, I think Clark's contract is not being renewed unless she does more than take her squad to the round of 32.  From how the season has started, I don't think her team will even make the NCAA tournament (of course, I said that last season, too).

As for replacements, I doubt Tim Walton would leave Florida for Texas.  But, maybe Jennifer Rocha would.  Could also see Texas making a run at 'Bama's head coach as he did flirt with LSU in the past.

Connie is lazy...that is an understatement. She has very few ties to the Texas Travelball scene. She "big-times" the best programs in the state. Just look at her roster. She hangs in Calif and brings back their 2nd/3rd tier kids.

Baylor has been whipping them in the state of Texas.

Also look at TAMU, almost all Texas girls. They are one of the top programs in the country year in and year out. Just wait til the new stadium is done at TAMU. It's beautiful. They will continue to win the recruiting battles in Texas.

UT needs more than a coach.

Players don't sit on the stadium benches; so, the fields are pretty much equal.  Back in the day, Cal won a national title and they couldn't even host NCAA games as their stadium had no lights.

Yes, facilities do affect the decisions of some players these days, but I think it's more about training and practice facilities. locker rooms, dorms, etc. than a pretty stadium.

Regardless, Coach Clark is not recruiting elite players.  She has changed assistant coaches many times over the years, and the results are basically the same except those years where she had on dominant pitcher on the mound.

Regarding facilities- U of Washington Huskies have a nice ballpark in a great locale, but in 2009, they didn't have lights, either. That was the first year that NCAA required them. Still, they won it all, and naturally, got lights in the next year. Since then, they have hosted most regionals and some supers. Facilities are nice, but champions win with or without them.

Currently watching the stat cast of the Texas V Washington game. Looks like the weather is pretty Seattle like- 39 degrees and wet, and no score in the 3rd.

A not-insignificant issue for an SEC coach, and to a lesser extent Pac, is the desert wasteland that the Big 12 is TV-wise

I don't know if Texas will make a move on Connie, but I am certainly more optimistic now that we have a new AD in place. Del Conte is unlike most AD's, as he truly listens to what fans want, and interacts with them on a very personable level, and fans are extremely tired of Connie's lackluster performance.

As a Florida resident, and a parent of a D1 softball player, trust me when I say that Walton can identify talent and usually gets whatever players he wants in this state. He has also shown that he isn't afraid to reach outside the state for special players like Lorenz and Barnhill, among others. There is absolutely no reason to believe that he would not be able to do the same at a school like Texas.

***And while the Big 12 may be a "desert wasteland" for TV, Texas is not. They have their own network, where almost every game is broadcast. All Longhorn Network broadcast are also available on the Watch Espn app. There is no television advantage for Florida over Texas.***

Sorry, but the Longhorn Network app is not in the same zipcode as ESPN/SEC on the big screen, saturating the weekends

FWIW I'm in Birmingham and I don't get the Longhorn network. Had to "watch" the game last night on Gametracker (or it's equivalent) but the Florida vs Oakland game was available.

And yet another thread with 3LT running his mouth. Taking shots at the Big 12. I hope your Ducks are on tv every game so you can watch every pitch all the way to the next choke fest.

The Longhorn Network is not an app, it is a channel. I'm sorry it is not available, on your provider, in Birmingham, but it is available on almost every service provider in Texas, which is where most of the Longhorn recruits and families live. It is also available to me, through dish network, here in Florida. If you were in Birmingham and your daughter decided to play softball for the University of Texas, subscribing to Dish Network would be a small price to pay, to be able to see all of her games. The Florida vs. Oakland games (if you can call them that) were on the same ESPN app that broadcast the Longhorn games, and that channel will be a huge recruiting tool for the next coach and the families of the players he recruits. FWIW, the Longhorn Network is owned by UT and ESPN.

And a tri-tip (though they're too expensive now).

I've never wanted so bad to spend $300 on tickets, $300-400 on a hotel room, and $1500 on plane tickets in my life.

Just have to keep reminding myself ... "you get the WCWS this year."
