Washington and Jefferson are better offensively than the transfers IMO and Bolinger isn’t miles behind Elish like everyone seems to think; there is a difference there, but it isn’t monumental. I agree with all but top 14. I think they will do better than that.

Bollinger managed 8 complete games in 29 appearances. Had 2 wins against significant teams MI & AZ.

Sported a smooth 14.00ERA against OR last year.

And you think Bollinger is just a tick below Elish? Under White, she's got a good chance to be a servicable #2. Best thing she can do is park a stool behind Elish in the Bullpen and pay attention. It starts there.

Elish will throw EVERY significant inning. If Bollinger can eat up some innings and possibly even beat an OK, Baylor or OK St., maybe once, Texas will go far.

With White & being around Elish she should rise to the challenge & get even better.

For those of you intent on talking about Melyssa Lombardi, please take it to the Oregon thread.  Her lack of head coaching or other topics would be better discussed over there.  This thread is about the Texas Longhorns.

Never said Lombardi might not have the goods, and I always root for anyone who takes an early uppercut to rally and  win. Oregon is such a special place.

I am saying that it is a huuuuuge leap to assume that assistant coach success is at all automatically translatable to head coach success.

And I don't call a final four an epic fail ... ever.

How many active coaches have won a natty the past nine seasons? Gasso 3, Walton 2, Alameda 1, Murphy 1, KIP 1

How many additional coaches have at least two final fours the past nine years and at least five conference titles in a P5?

Five coaches have any claim over White during his career. Not going to strenuously argue that.

Though, he now has a better talent spicket

I think they will compliment one another. Texas has a solid squad, I'm looking forward to Texas and Oregon matching up in a regional or, even better, a super regional.

Texas, Oregon, ULL and UAB would be my dream regional

That, and any regional with Indiana in it! 😉

Lefty - I would put only two of those coaches ahead of Mike White - at this point in time.
I think he deserves the #3 spot among current NCAA softball coaches.

But... I cannot agree with your take that 4 transfer players deserve to be listened to - more so than ML does.

AND....  ML has EARNED 4 national championship rings...
while MW (and those 4 transfer players) have NONE.

They are expecting a blizzard in Oregon this weekend. Hope ML stays warm. Later when it goes away she can make a snowduck.

She might prefer making snow ice cream. And she won't even have to wait for the snow to melt.

The key to Texas success will be how willing the player's that were already on the roster are receptive to the fact that Mike White and his transfers bring championship experience with them. Something this program has not seen in quite some time.

In her role, sure.

But, if championship rings were sized based on appropriate credit, Gasso, Ricketts, Chamberlain and Parker deserve the rings to be the size of the Norman water tower to the east of the stadium (across from Reaves Park and north of Constitution Street). Every other starter and assistant coach deserve ones sized exactly as they received. And the reserves would get a pinky ring.

I don't consider that any insult, to be clear

Just once stop diminishing other coach's accomplishments good god...and until White wins the big one, he chases Florida State's Mike Martin as always there...never winning.

That is some beautiful sentence to behold.

While you actually DO diminish White's accomplishments....

How is it diminishing Gasso to suggest that her ring should be the size of a water tower?

Good god...indeed

Right now, there are five coaches who, during White's tenure (2010-18), have any claim of accomplishment better than his (and that includes KIP who has that Langennatty of 2010 but no Pacs). And, Tarr won it all in 2009. So, make it six if you want to stretch it

No, I am not putting any assistant coach into that mix

If you are really going to try and divie up the "appropriate credit" to the players and coaches involved in Oklahoma's last 3 titles...
then your statement: "Every other starter and assistant coach deserve ones sized exactly as they received."...  fails big time.
If you truly think people like Lombardi (she played a very big role), Shelby Pendley and Shay Knighten...
deserve the exact same size credit that all the other starters deserve... then you were not being very observant.

And there are surely others who would deserve a noticeably larger than average size amount of that credit...
such as Paige Lowary and Michelle Gascoigne.

Let's rephrase... if there were three sizes of rings to hand out, that is how I would divvy them up
