Someone tell me about right field.  Bekah Alcozer just seems slow compared to the other outfielders.  Yes, she does have a very good bat; and, MW has said he needs to find spots for the best offensive players.  But, is there a better option defensively?  Maybe I'm not giving her the credit she deserves; she is a senior, so perhaps she has already prove to be the best option.  Could still use her as a DH.

No, no HR’s, but that hasn’t been Texas’ identity ever really and with the NEW introduction of MW it wont be this year either. We are a team with hitters that find gaps and others that have tremendous speed and will pose issues for opposing infields. A .391 avg and 23 runs in 3 games is always good no matter the competition, especially when you’re talking about a seriously underperforming offense in the past. We had 5 RR victories last year and already in 2 of the first 3 game this season. This tournament we had today, we also had last year; this isn’t an anomaly and I’m assuming around 12-15 RR victories this year. We just RR’d Boise St; that absolutely wouldn’t happen last year. Von Sprecken would’ve pitched a fantastic compete game, giving up about 5 hits, and we would’ve lost 1-0 or 2-1. Any true TX fans who followed last season will have no disagreeances about that. Pitching has never been our issue and certainly wasn’t last year, we had a very good ERA. The OR transfers did not make us elite; MW made us elite. The added players from OR will tremendously help, but the talent was always there; we just didn’t have the staff to enthuse this team. Aside from Rhodes(who was among the best) the TX returers were better today. Iakopo was good, but 4, maybe 5 TX offensive players were better in today’s games; this includes Ellsworth who is her competition behind the dish. Also, in the circle, Bolinger was more
Impressive than Elish. All indicators point to that changing but it is a new school, culture, and life for Elish. Im 99% sure Elish will emerge the #1( that’s why MW started her against Boise St) but today Bolinger was much more impressive.

Agreed!!

What did we learn about Lauren Burke yesterday?  I didn't really focus on as there was a lot to pay attention to all day.  Anyone have any guesses as to the role (offensively and/or defensively) she will play this season?

Hard to tell right now. She didn't have quite the day that she would have hoped for. However, this roster is full of talent and she is one of those talented players. I am sure that there will be a spot for her somewhere on the field eventually!!

She is a player Southie I’ve watch her play with the Bandits and some on TV with the Ducks, she will definitely play a big role for the team

Lot of softball knowledge on this forum but the forum desperately needs a moderator to eliminate the immature comments.

Re:   Romero     Possible injury ?    I can't see MW ostracizing her to pick up buckets.  Not good for team morale. Seems she would join the normal workout no matter her place in the rotation.    Concerned she did not get time Sunday but he went with Elish for the final inning.

Not a fan of Elish hitting though she is very good.   Always chance of injury (e.g., Tiarra Davis).   Staff not experienced enough to overcome  her loss.

Despite the presence of one bigot on this thread, gonna try to focus on Texas Softball.

Romero is not injured!! If she was, it would have been mentioned!! Trust me, there is something else going on there. As for Elish hitting, it's hard not to Trust CW and his judgment. His record speaks for itself.

If this was an Oklahoma player and I was a UT fan, I would state matter of factly that the player fully understands that she has been recruited over and is getting ready to transfer. [thumb]

No clue about Romero's situation.  But, if we hear/see anything about her taking a voluntary redshirt season, then it would make more sense to fathom a future transfer.

With only 4 games having been played so far (when there were supposed to have been 5 games this wekend), who's to say that she wasn't scheduled to pitch the game which had been canceled?  Just playing devil's advocate here.

I understand Southie. Trust me though, you probably won't see her in the circle for Texas this season!!

You're probably right.  Looking at her bio, she only pitched in 8 games last season as a true freshman.

https://texassports.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=8926

Our pitching staff is much more talented and deeper this season, IMO.  And, if Maggie Balint joins us along with Grace Green next season, it will only get tougher for some pitchers on the current roster.

But, since she's on the current roster right now and didn't choose to leave after the Fall, I'm hoping she gets the chance to contribute (unless she prefers to redshirt for future eligibility reasons).

Mike White is a very petulant, very petty man. He's the classic front runner, as long as he's winning, as long as he's getting his way he does quite well. When faced with any adversity he loses his composure & his teams, ... along with their coach pout, throw tantrums & then quit. The players he took with him - Elish & Rhodes in particular - are prime examples. White can't handle losing to women coaches either, Gasso will own him.

First post was to come here and be a troll.  Classic.

Of course, most likely you're a frequent poster who felt it was time once again to register under a brand new handle.  You don't fool me for a minute, loser.

FYI -- you misspelled the word "recruited" in your fake handle.

Gosh, you're right I did misspell that; oh well... You were right the first time "Southie"  first time poster...

Tell me -  "Southie - he of 656 posts - how is expressing an observation, an opinion, formed from years of watching Pac12 in action being a troll?

Watch & see I'll be proven right... Duck fans didn't like that opinion either but they all saw it proven correct time & again.
