If I were Torina, I would start Smith Friday. I would start Walljasper Saturday (presumably against ULL) and have Hoover ready in relief. Too hard to predict Sunday yet; it just depends on how everything else goes.

If it were last year's Wildcat team, I might say you're onto something about JMU as they did beat Az twice last year at Hillenbrand...however, this year's team is a different vibe and story altogether with Harper, Carranco, Palomino and Mulipola mixing it up.[smile]

Also, I do not think Michigan does anything spectacular at Udub.

Plan on it. Washington will go far, and Alvelo will throw every pitch.

I know it worked for Parker, but not a recipe for success

Agree. It barely worked for Parker. It's not something you do if you have other choices.

I don't really see them for UW, so Alvelo will have to be a workhorse to get through regional games (maybe not the 1-4 game), SRs and WCWS, if the Huskies get that far. That's a ton of innings in a relatively short time frame.

Based on what I saw last season from Parker, the key to the "lone ace" approach is as much mental as it is physical. Parker was unquestionably tired by the time she got to OKC. But she had an extra level of mental toughness to overcome the fatigue until needing the day off from Game 2 of the final series.

That would be the question about Alvelo and Washington and others that will largely have to go with one pitcher for the serious innings. It will be more than just strength. They'll have to be in a different zone mentally to do it.

Agree.  Smith needs to pitch against Fairfield and get her mojo back.  Her last 2 outings at the SEC-T were shaky.  I think Walljasper is the best bet to keep the ULL bats off balance.  If it is LSU/McNeese on Saturday, I think Hoover pitches.

And, the hometown advantage didn't hurt PP either

I've only been an SEC fan for 60 years and I think ULL can and will beat LSU in the BR regional. Teams are pretty even overall. I'd give LSU the edge in pitching and the Cajuns an edge in hitting. It will come down to the mental aspect of the game and here the Cajuns have in MHO an advantage that LSU cannot match. The Cajuns have faced Orsorio and showed the country what they can do with their bats. It will be fun to watch.[smile]

Alvelo is a strong young lady. The test for her will be to control her emotions and her pitches.

I don't know why they insist on a rematch of the previous years championship series in the supers. Especially when both teams are OKC material. That said, I think I'm the only one who likes auburn to win.

You have lost your mind. Florida State's offense will destroy that UL pitching

Cajuns can very realistically make the WCWS. I'd like to see it.

That is one thing we can agree on. Alex has been much better with this over the last three weeks. I'm also curios how all the rest of the much more obvious illegals are called in the tournament.

No, I believe he is speaking of the medical treatment she received from the school.
