The ASA NorCal Women’sSummer Fastpitch Travel Leagueis a summer schedule of weekend events to allow competition and skill development for women of all ages. The games are played in select Northern California venues on as many as four weekends throughout the summer months.
Play commences after collegiate programs have finished (anticipated first weekend is June 16-17) and conducts play through late July. Games are full-tilt contests on quality diamonds with top-notch umpiring crews.Players and teams that wish to maintain, grow or tinker with the skill set of up-and-coming college hopefuls are served by the league, as well as ongoing collegiate participants. Equallywelcome are those whose eligibility has passed but, not their desire to play.
Thus, it’s not a“23-under” league. The program is open to all women, young and old. Youth players’ parents must sign the usual wavier, but the league has seen participants range from moms to coaches to current and ex-collegiate stars, as well as the promising contenders. There’s a spot for every player. The level of play runs the gamut from high school travel ballers to local or returning home collegians to ex-players or those who wish to avoid the pace of their slow-pitch ball games. If a player doesn’t have a team, we’ll find one. The league’s coaches have been accepting of finding places for interested softball enthusiasts.
Pass on my contact information to anyone who might wish to be involved in any capacity, either that stray individual player, a travel team/organization that wishes to field a team, host a weekend at their venue or a deep-pocketed soul who can help fund some of the improvements we wish to carry forth in the coming years.
With local players and some from a cross-section of the country representing NCAA D-1, D-2 & D-3programs, NAIA, community colleges, and more, the range and depth of experience is quite a remarkable collection of participants. Ask a player, they’ll tell you their summer is softball as it’s meant to be…fun. Oh, it’s fiercely contended between the lines, but the camaraderie amongst those involved is in the spirit of competitive cooperation.
Helpfully and hopefully yours,
WOMEN’SFASTPITCH SUMMER TRAVEL LEAGUE
