How an Amish missionary caused 2014's massive measles outbreak

Ex:
It's not actually a rising anti-vaxx tide or naturopathic, private school mothers driving a return of vaccine-preventable disease here. It's not even low-income folks who wind up getting sick, and it's especially not undocumented migrants bringing in viruses, the CDC's Seward says: "The people getting measles are those that travel abroad, come back, and live in a community among people who weren't vaccinated."

Thanks dewy for the diversion of your game of penis envy.  Yes California ranked slightly higher on MMR but much lower on all 7 immunizations.  Apples and oranges, the outbreak started in California and here is another reason why.  I know it's above your pay grade to understand but use your fingers to follow along with this next paragraph if need be.

EX:

At the same time, research is focusing on how clusters of people who don’t vaccinate their kids pose perhaps the greatest risk — a new study in Pediatrics finds that many of these clusters are in very politically liberal areas of California like “northern San Francisco and southern Marin County.”

Here’s a figure from Kahan’s paper, helpfully comparing how views of guns, climate change, marijuana legalization, and vaccines all shift as you move across the political spectrum. Views on vaccines show by far the least variability, compared with these other much more politicized topics:

Yes you should get vaccines. And so what if that makes your kid artistic. That don't always mean he's gay. - Luwanda Jenkins

From ThinkProgress.org -

Contrary to Brooks’ assertion that foreigners don’t get vaccinated as American children do, data from the World Health Organization shows that the following countries have higher vaccination rates for measles than the United States’ rate of 92 percent: Mexico (99 percent), Nicaragua (99 percent), Panama (98 percent), Belize (96 percent), Guatemala (93 percent), Honduras (93 percent), and El Salvador (93 percent). In fact, most countries in Central and South America have higher rates of measles vaccination than does the United States. In all, some 108 countries have higher measles vaccination rates than the United States.

But this data hasn’t stopped Brooks or others in a long line of conservatives from arguing for years that immigrants are public health risks.

Measles was virtually eliminated in this country, along with many other preventable diseases. These diseases suddenly start reoccurring after a large influx of illegal immigrants are distributed across the US. I am sure there is no correlation, when a sudden outbreak of diseases such as enderovirus common in Central America, and largely eliminated in the US suddenly starts spreading. Pure coincidence easily explained away by a Liberal website, and some color coded graphs and charts. See, all the nearly eradicated diseases just all of a sudden found some way of reemerging on a larger than normal scale following a surge of illegal immigration. Pure coincidence.
