Lefties going full in after the plastic straw.

Seattle banned them start of 2018.
DC has now banned them.
Tampa bay is no longer allowed to have drinking straws in the lobby for self service, but now make customers ask for a straw.

Great job lefty.  You are accomplishing much.

It's not a fight against straws, per se, you doofus. It's part of an incipient and much-needed revolt against plastic generally--which has been such an enormously popular container material over the last several decades that it has created a massive, global environmental disaster, even as a lot of plastic is recycled. The oceans are teeming with plastic, and ocean animals sadly have stomachs full of micro-plastic. Think of all the crap we buy that is in, or accompanied by, plastic--like the straw--and then discarded within minutes, and then think of billions of people doing the same thing at the same time, 24-7: you get some idea of the vast scale of the plastic problem. This is why some grocery chains have, or soon will, stop groceries in plastic bags. Plastic consumption must be drastically reduced: That's the root of the issue, which isn't very hard to understand.

They zone in on straws because it makes the effort sound silly. The continued dishonesty in how situations are presented shows the shallowness of conservative positions. Attack Warren and call her a racial slur for recounting family stories of an Indian heritage. Accuse her of using it to falsely further her career(she didn't) and ignore her policies. Easier to call people names and it plays to the adolescent mindset of the base. Very telling what motivates these people.

That anti-straw movement? It's all based on one 9-year-old's suspect statistic

Growing market in "take your own straws" I see coming.

“He was yelling and walking toward the counter and the young lady behind the counter told him that it’s the law now that we’re not allowed to have straws in the lobby,” Biandudi recounted.

Trust me boys.  Living in Seattle i get to experience the stupidity up front and center.  What I say will become your reality.  If you live in San Fran, or Portland, you will see it in a day or two, in DC, New York, Chicago a year or two, but eventually you will see it, you can count on that.

15 years ago the envirowhackos went insane on brown grocery sacks.  It is killing our forests.  It creates litter.  They are horrible.  They had to go.   Ok, I says, whatever.  No one really cares anyway.

I remember reading a few people say: "but hold up a sec envirowhacko, paper bags are made from sustainable forests, which ultimately proccess bilions and billions of tons of CO2 and we need them"  to which envrowhacko would just scream, lose their mind, call people climate cooling deniers, and try and burn down their houses.

Fast forward to 3 years ago.  Hey look it is envirowhacko again.  this time he is saying
"You guys are complete a-holes."
What?
"Yeah, always, complete a-holes."
Come on dude, we are just living our lives, raising our kids going to work every day.  How can we be a-holes for that?
"All those damn plastic sacks you are using.  You see them blowing all over hell, stuck in fences, plugging up drains, they are getting in the oceans killing dolphins.  You are an a-hole for even asking questions."
Hmm.  You are sort of hard to talk to.  But if you remember back 15 years ago when you demanded we have to use our great powers of government to rid us of the scourge of brown paper bags and their destructions of our forests, we told you we did not like those plastic bags cause they fly all over the place and get stuck in fences.  Besides it seems it mostly your homeless folks that gather up hundreds of these sacks and just abandon them everywhere that are the biggest culprit.
"Nope, see there you go again, denying our climate warming errr i mean climate changing.  Now we must use our powers of government to get rid of these evil plastic bags."
Ok, whatevers.  You seem to get super emotional and angry and then fly off in any random direction half cocked.   Why not slow down, if  there is a real problem we will certainly work together to resolve it.  We always have.  Leaded gas, sun spots, PCBs, DDT, Solar, Wind ...  The plan is always the same.  Find reasonably economical alternatives and the market adopts them.
"NOOOOO, we are not going to do it that way!!!!.  Instead we will threaten to burn your house down.  Besides you are just doing this to make me look like a whacko"
hmmm. ok. whatevs.

Explain how? You vehement rail against the use of plastic, but flippantly say an unborn child has no rights.

Silly narrator, there is no such thing as an unborn child. You have to be born to be a child. Try to keep up. A fetal cell mass does not have the right to force a woman to bring it to term. Doesn't sound as bad, does it? Of course honesty was never a rightie strong point. It's all about how you present the story. Be damned truth.

Unborn child. Impossible, only used to exaggerate the visual. Maybe dishonest a better word.

Yet strangely if an assailiant kills a mother and her child he is charged with two murders.  One of those murder charges is for the unborn child.   Weird right?

Child:  Noun, often attributive

Definition of child
(Entry 1 of 3)

1 a:  An unborn or recently born person

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/child

I guess you are right, we should drop the word unborn, it is redundant.

Splitting hairs maybe, but it was St Pete.  St Pete is the great liberal bastion of Central Florida.

They had a GOP mayor who was very effective a few years back.  He retired, and here we go - with no one minding the store, they go all out.

Side note:  In St Petersburg, sea level is at 100 feet.  100 years ago, they wanted to be able to grow and develop, but Yankees wouldn't buy land at elevations like 10 feet.  So, the City adopted sea level as 100 feet, and added 100 to all property elevations in the City.

They were progressive even back in the day I guess.

Webster the only dictionary defining child as unborn also. The rest all agree with me, I can't be expected to look at every friggin dictionary every time you say something inflammatory. Child does sound worse than mass of cells though, the point stands.

When exactly does that murdered child in the womb become a child?  Describe this magic to me, please?

Legally I'd say it's a cell mass until 20 weeks. Once the fetus can reasonably exist outside the womb, there are serious moral issues. Brain activity nor a heartbeat necessarily fill that requirement for me.
