jayrot, where are you living now?  Sounds like Alabama or Georgia given your drivetime.

Pick me up on your way.

And in the meantime if next winter is anything like this past winter, I may not be making the return trip.

<< The adjusted RPI for the top 4:

1. Oregon .7143
2. UCLA .7052
3. Florida .6978
4. Oklahoma .6977  >> (RahOKU)

<< Adjusted rpi is the original rpi plus and/or minus the bonus and penalty points for wins over top 50 teams and losses to teams 225 to 296. >> (LCITSH)

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Once again... an arbitrary over/under line bites Oklahoma.
Oregon State and Oklahoma State end up #26 and #27 in RPI...
and now here is BYU at #51.

You RPI experts...   If BYU had been #50 (rather than #51)...
how much would that have changed Oklahoma's final adjusted RPI..??

Had BYU been #50, Oklahoma would have received some "bonus points" for an additional win over a top 50 team.
That surely would have put them ahead of Florida.

Btw... None of the other top 4 teams played BYU.
Oklahoma beat them 10-0.

<< Championships might have put Florida ahead of UCLA. I think what really stood out for me was the top 25 records of the top 4 seeds. Oregon 16-5. UCLA 13-3. OU 7-2. Florida 27-6. That’s staggering and likely why Florida is the 2 seed. >> (Fpitch9)

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Florida's 27-6 record vs. the top 25 - is vastly superior to both UCLA's 13-3  AND  Oregon's 16-5.
If record vs. the top 25 is such an important factor - why stop at #2..?   Why not move Florida all the way to the #1 spot.

It's not like Oregon's record vs. the top 25 was any better than UCLA's.

Which is really the better record..?
16-5 (.762)  or  13-3 (.813)

To go from a 13-3 record to a 16-5 record...  a team just has to go 3-2.

UCLA's 13-3 record is better than Oregon's 16-5 record.

Oregon would have to go 11-1 (.917) to reach Florida's 27-6 record.
UCLA would have to go 14-3 (.824) to reach Florida's 27-6 record.

For the umpteenth time... when seeding the Top 5, Top 25 wins are less relevant than they are for determining 9-16. The peer group is Top 5. Oregon 4-2. UCLA 1-2. UF 1-1.

And, UF had two 50+ losses.

Again, a 50+ loss is NO demerit for teams trying to be the last team in the field, or even teams jockeying for the 16 spot perhaps.

It damn well is for determining the Top 8, and certainly Top 2.

A Florida, UCLA or Oregon are all expected to handle RPI 11-25 with ease.

I'll let you hem and haw about how easily Oklahoma should handle these teams, since you seem to disagree.

In terms of SOS, certainly.   In terms of performance and predicting future results, the win percentages are almost identical.

I see ESPN is a sponsor.   Does that mean they are also going to televise or stream some or most of the games?

You can pretty much count on most, if not all, of it on ESPN+.
