When I saw Sunseri's stats on SEC Now, I thought to myself that she would definitely be the SEC Player of the Week.  I looked at where LSU batted Sunseri in the lineup and saw that she batted 5th.  She really had nobody protecting her in the lineup so to do what she did over the weekend with no protection is very nice.  In looking at the Bama batting order, Tow has Hemphill protecting her.  If Bama keeps the same order for the rest of the year, Tow should be able to put up good stats with the protection she has.

Well the SEC offices are in Alabama so I guess it’s not surprising why Tow got it.

I am not advocating any conspiracy theories.  All that I am saying is what Sunseri did with both her stick and in the circle opening weekend was, in my opinion, more worthy of being named SEC player of the week than what Tow accomplished.  Other than Tow having a higher batting average, she and Hemphill basically had the same stats over the weekend.  Sunseri had a lower batting average than Tow but had more hr's and rbi's plus helped her team in the circle as well.

The FR Hicks knocked a 3-run dinger in B6 to give the Hogs the lead back. NDSU tied it in the T7, but the Hogs walked it off (literally, Parr earning the BB RBI) in B7.

Of the 6 Bison runs, only 2 (I think) were earned. Hogs’ defense is not what it needs to be.

Edit: apparently only 1 run was earned.

#11 Arkansas brings 2 runners in to lead #5 Washington in the 2nd inning. Other than defense, the Hogs look like a top team this year. May come in 2nd or 3rd in the SEC.

Well shoot. UW walks it off 3-2. Props to both teams, Hogs just couldn’t score that insurance run.

I really, really like Katie Warrick. But she does not belong in RF in the 7th inning of a 1-run game when Sis Bates, one of the best left-handed hitters in the game, is up.

They were making late inning defensive adjustments last weekend, but not today. I'm a bit confused. Oh well, very good showing against Alvelo and the national runner-up. Woulda coulda shoulda.

Perhaps a SA who was suspended from the team in the fall should forfeit any accolades in the spring. Why hurt the others who are also deserving?

Tennessee beat Minnesota 4-2 to remain undefeated. Minnesota threw their top pitcher, who was very good, but a 3-run homer by Amanda
Ayala won it for the Vols. Earlier in the day the Vols run-ruled Notre Dame, 8-0.

How can KY not have a center fielder? Scarborough just said the girl playing center is a freshman and a catcher.

Because young players who make mistakes, learn from them, and bounce back should never receive any accolades moving forward? Give me a break.

I mean, that’s cool and all, but the bigger issue is that she didn’t really deserve it. Sunseri outshined her far and away— and while maybe Tow shouldn’t be judged for trying to she-hulk her freakin’ teammates, you certainly wouldn’t think her to be a likely pick for PotW when we all knew she was suspended for fall ball. Kids that work hard, stay out of trouble and DON’T threaten their teammates seem far more rational a choice.

Could not agree more. Coaches don’t suspend SAs for one mistake. At least not to my knowledge.

Alabama got some great wins over quality opponents in the dessert this weekend.

2-0 over USF
7-2 over Cal State Fullerton
6-1 over #9 Arizona

This could be a good year for the Tide.
