bhblue - It's interesting.  I think I've heard almost every Republican and every Democrat criticize the actions of Sen. Cruz.  I'll spend some time looking inside here but I can't remember off hand even one of our UCS Libertarians criticizing him once.  I think I gave pabar a whole list of my Obama criticisms recently.  Is this a two way street?

Dewey - I would ask that you not hijack this thread.  We're not talking about Cruz here.  If you want to talk about him, start another thread.  Meanwhile, I asked a question in post 16 and you libs refuse to answer.

pabar - Can you put it into the form of an agree/disagree question?  I'll answer all your questions formed in that manner.

The press is already lining up to try to inoculate Clinton for her past.  It is truly amazing to watch.

I'll let this author share some accomplishments...

Although her major initiative, the Clinton health care plan failed, it certainly set the groundwork for the health care law we have today, the Affordable Care Act. And she played a leading role in advocating the creation of the State Children's Health Insurance Program, which provides state support for children whose parents cannot provide them with health coverage. She promoted nationwide immunization against childhood illnesses. She also played a leading role in creation of the Adoption and Safe Families Act and the Foster Care Independence Act. She encouraged older women to seek a mammogram for early detection of breast cancer (which is covered by Medicare) and successfully sought to increase research funding for prostate cancer and childhood asthma at the NIH. She worked to investigate illnesses that were reportedly affecting Veterans of the Gulf War; now commonly known as Gulf War Syndrome. And she created an Office on Violence Against Women at the Department of Justice. She is also the first first lady to hold a post graduate degree, and she traveled to more countries than any other first lady had at that time.

As a U.S. senator, she was the first first lady to be elected to this office. She was instrumental in securing $21 billion in funding for the World Trade Center site's redevelopment. She subsequently took a leading role in investigating the health issues that 9/11 first responders were facing.

After visiting soldiers in Iraq, Clinton noted that the insurgency had failed to disrupt the democratic elections held earlier, and that parts of the country were functioning well. Noting that war deployments were draining regular and reserve forces, she cointroduced legislation to increase the size of the regular Army by 80,000 soldiers to ease the strain and supported retaining and improving health benefits for veterans. She also she introduced the Family Entertainment Protection Act.

That was just in her first term. She was easily re-elected and accomplished much in her second term as well. And who can forget her run for the presidency, receiving more than 17 million votes during the nomination process?

As our secretary of state, Clinton visited 112 countries, helping to repair a badly damaged U.S. reputation. She advocated an expanded role in global economic issues for the State Department and cited the need for an increased U.S. diplomatic presence, especially in Iraq, where the Defense Department had conducted diplomatic missions. Clinton unveiled the Global Hunger and Food Security program, prevailed over Vice President Biden to send an additional 21,000 troops to Afghanistan, saved the signing of a Turkish-Armenian accord, and assisted the president with major decisions as to the U.S. position with regard to the revolution in Egypt and the decision to use military force in Libya.

From that description, there are no accomplishments as Secretary of State.  I'll put you down as unable to come up with two.

pabar - I knew full well you would say that so now I have a question for you.  Can you name two accomplishments I could have listed that you would have accepted?  Maybe cure cancer would be one.

Dewey - I posed the question because I know there are no accomplishments.  Look at the verbs used in the description: helping, advocated, cited, unveiled, prevailed, saved (a Turkish-Armenian accord, lol), assisted.  Nothing - and all around the world we have discord and violence.  By the way, curing cancer doesn't come under the purview of the secretary of state.

This little back and forth is a clear indication that you also cannot think of any accomplishments.  If you could, you would use your own words instead of a pathetic reference to a milquetoast description of how she has whiled away the time in important positions far above her abilities.

pabar - I knew you wouldn't give me two.  Please, just two.  Provide two examples of accomplishments Ms. Clinton could have achieved that you would have accepted as significant.  (Here it comes, "she could have had nobody die during her term.")

Is it pabar's job to come up with hypothetical accomplishments that she could have had?  That paragraph is pretty shallow.

mikec - Not at all.  I came up with a long list.  The point I'm making is there isn't one thing I could have listed, even if I completely made it up, that pabar would have accepted.  If I'm wrong, then someone tell me what it might have been.  Here's another quick test.  Name two accomplishments of our last three Secretaries of State, (no Google please).

why do we care what the last 3 SOS did?  They didn't run for president, we are trying to vet presidential candidates, apples and oranges.  What did Hillary do?  pabar asked you once to please not hijack the thread

Dewey - I asked for three real accomplishments and you want me to come up with two hypotheticals?  Sorry, not how it works around here.  You can't come up with any - fine, just admit it.  As SOS I could have done what your author said Hillary did.  There are no accomplishments on that list.  The point is to refute the claim being made that she was a great SOS.  All I want to know is what made her so great?

pabar - I could do more research and add several more to the list and your reply would still be, "you got nothing".  Why would I go to the trouble just to hear you dismiss them all again?  I provided a list of Hillary accomplishments and we'll let the reader decide if they're worthy.  Like I said, providing you with accomplishments you will accept is an impossible task and a total waste of everyone's time.  You're not interested in her accomplishments.  This is just another opportunity to criticize Hillary.

Pabar - apparently it would take too long to find any real Hillary accomplishments, and nobody on the left can be bothered - even if they just sit at their computer all day long.

Hhahahha no wonder so many liberal socialist democrats want her for president. She's not qualified!

As I said, those weren't accomplishments - it was a list of how she occupied her time.  Let's go through the paragraph.  I'm quoting but shortening some of the quotes for brevity.

"She visited 112 countries" - isn't that just in her job description?
"helping to repair a badly damaged U.S. reputation" - are you kidding?  Our reputation now has never been worse.  We are despised and ridiculed everywhere.
"She advocated an expanded role in global economic issues for the State Department" - what are the tangible benefits that advocacy has rendered?
"Cited the need for" ... - is that an accomplishment?  Is advice now an accomplishment?
"Especially in Iraq" - where Al Qaeda is now asserting its dominance.
"unveiled the Global Hunger and Food Security program" - I'm not even sure she did anything other than unveil the work of others but what has been the result of the program?
"prevailed over Biden to send troops to Afghanistan" - okay, this is a good thing but prevailing over Biden is like beating a 1st grader in Monopoly and, in any case, Afghanistan is a disaster now.
"saved the signing of a Turkish-Armenian accord" - sorry, please let me stop laughing at the purported importance of this accord. I'm sure 99.999999% of the country didn't know about it or care about it.
"assisted the president with major decisions regarding Egypt and Libya" - again, that's her job.  But, again, what has it gotten us?

There is a difference between doing your job and actually having accomplishments.  I can sit at my desk all day shuffling papers without actually accomplishing anything.  Now if you said, she did her job, that's a different discussion.  But, given the state of international affairs and our influence in the world, she failed.

Dewey - first, I didn't post one of the long ones you're talking about.  I asked a legitimate question based on what i'm hearing about Hillary's qualifications to be president.  I assume you support her candidacy and would be prepared to vigorously defend her.

I see the vigor but, oddly for you, it's tinged with some venom I don't normally see from you.

Here is what I think.  You agree that she's not qualified but you can't possibly admit that inside this forum.  The problem for Democrats is that no other qualified candidates have been identified for POTUS.  Biden is the only other name being floated and I think everyone agrees that is a canoe heading for a waterfall.  I think you're stuck with Hillary but it would be better for Democrats if they had another legitimate candidate.  Hillary has so much baggage that she is a very risky proposition for Democrats.

pabar - Are you just going to continue to ignore my post showing her accomplishments?  I guess you are.  If we're simply allowed to make things up as we go along, let me close by thanking you for finally admitting Hillary is one of our most qualified contenders for the 2016 election and would make a great President.  That puts you in the same company as Sec of Defense Gates and General Patreas.   How's that? [smile]

Holy Mackerel - did you not read post 47?  Clearly, your attempt at humor by saying that I think she would be a great president is a good effort.

Assisting in making poor decisions is an accomplishment, but not one I would include in a resume'.  Nothing we did in Egypt and Libya benefitted our country.

It's hard for me to find anything significant about her time in national politics.  She was a First Lady. [sleep] Her time in the Senate was not noteworthy as can be examined here, or here.  As for her stint as SOS, I can only hope her campaign tries to keep that in the forefront during the general election.  She will take a beating for her "accomplishments" in that position.

Still a lot of unanswered questions about Hillary but the bottom line is that with the Clintons, anyone with  money can buy anything from a night in the Lincoln bedroom to secret missile guidance technology.

Or, the Socialists Dems might stab the Madonna in the back yet again, and suddenly, by some miraculous means, somehow shove an unknown guitar playing rockstar wannabe Liberal like O'Malley into the Democrat primary race.  I can see the fawning MSM presenting it to the sheeple now. A little known junior senator named Obama somehow entranced the electorate with some polished lines he read from a teleprompter, why not O'Malley? I am sure He is more qualified than Billary right? And not near the baggage, and wrinkles, besides, the college kids think he's cool. Yep, He's qualified to lead the free world. Anybody else the Socialists want to throw into the fan blades and spray Sheite once again on our country? Clueless Socialists are ruining our country with the aid of the Socialist MSM, and foreign monetary funding.

The left wing is not enthusiastic about Hillary because of her Wall Street connections, so they're still trying to get Elizabeth Warren to run.

Question for Dewey - do you want Warren to challenge Hillary?

BTW, has anyone figured out whether Dewey is a paid community organizer or a volunteer?

He's a political junkie, whatever that is.  Most of us call him a shill.
he has made it clear, hilLIARry is who his vote will be cast.  He has guaranteed a hilLIARry win in 2016.  I've read it several times before he goes deleting what he said.

PDad - Hey, are you calling me out so these guys can throw rocks at my head? [wink]  At this stage, I don't have any opinion one way or the other about Warren running or not.  I can tell you I would give her, and others for that matter, consideration.  I'm a believer it's nearly impossible for the Democrats to lose in 2016 so I'll choose the candidate that interests me the most.  Biden will win if he's our candidate, imo.

As for somebody accusing Warren of being bought out, that's absurd.  Bought out is when one changes their position, like Rubio and Walker did on immigration, in order to gain the money necessary to win a nomination.  That's a direct sell out and it's quite sad.  However, I understand why they did it.
