I need a good lead electrician for industrial and commercial projects in the Houston area. I know that there is a bit of a difference for the management skill set between military and civilian workers, but I would be honored to employ a veteran. Feel free to PM me if you have a candidate.

I may do that, they're always on time and never miss work.  The ones with a Honorable Discharge, that's honorable of you woody.  I think RCC is 15-20% veteran, national average is less than number queers and lesbians

I spent time in Air Force National guard after being discharged.  The tools and techniques of splicing telephone cable and troubleshooting was similar.  I know, I know but the military has electricians, not us low life telephony fiber and cable splicers

Dang low voltage guys need to learn how to read a set prints, and pull a cable the size of my thumb through two underground conduits that are 4", and with more than (2) 90 degree bends is my only reply. I offered to do it for them if they couldn't figure it out. They seemed butt hurt, when I called them out, then stepped up and pulled it in after I blew a jet line through the pipe for them and pulled in their F'd up pull tape. Bunch of illegal alien crews doing contract work for AT&T, and they want everything their way or the highway. Hard wiring, and fiber optics are going the way of the wagon wheel, unless total security is required, and even that is going out of fashion. Line of sight, and satellite wireless, combined with secured encrypted wireless routers will kill the underground game for all but the most secure facilities. Even the huge HP server farms with their own power substations see the obsolescence coming.

Yeah, I'm getting out just in time.   I'll take that pension and slither away.

I pulled cable through 4" conduits the size of most men's forearms and larger.  Ten years of hooking poles and stringing cable then on to better things.  We'll both be dead before fiber optics is dead.  Fiber optics and T1s holding us together as a substitute for baling wire.  Less than 365 for me

I think the fiber optics are being propped up for profit. Underground installations are dead IMHO. Why commit the infrastructure expense if it is not needed for security? Burying Fiber is dead, and every home, and business, gas station that uses a line of sight antennas to transmit data already knows it. I see the huge security gapes, and it is a problem, however, it is not economically feasible to hard wire every existing home and small business. It just isn't monetarily feasible, or a continuing economic advantage.

Hey KIR did you get an email to be one of the beta testers on the new Exchange Online benefit? Took them a while to find my DD214, but they got me squared away and last week I got an email saying I can start shopping. I set up my account with the Exchange and with the Coast Guard Exchange but didn't shop yet.

Whoa I'm just looking at those. That is sweet that the Exchange has a connection with Danner where you can pick a pair of boots from the Danner site and they go into your 'cart' on the Exchange site, so no tax and a great price. Very nice setup. I wonder if they have that relationship with other good brands?

Just for schitzs & giggles I just ran a couple of paragraphs of the former moderator known as _____ and his new alter ego through both a plagiarism and a writing styles calculator.

Would you believe they both came back with the same 5 errors in both calculators? I'm shocked I tell you

That ain't no lie, here's to the Greatest Generation, those who fought and died in Korea, Nam and the Gulf wars and those who battle the Iranian, Taliban, Russian and Al-qaeda proxies in Iraq and Afghanistan and around the world.  Anything to keep them off of our shores
