Possibly, if you and the wife change to non Diet Coke, your issues might abate.

I think I just heard the President say, "You can work as hard as you want but if you don't have the right leader, well...".  Did I hear right?

President Trump continuously pumped stock market results as if he was mostly responsible for the increase.  No doubt he managed to get more individuals to jump in on the action only to get burned by a market correction, a correction resulting from an unsustainable increase in value that was largely a result of President Trump's hype.

This drop is almost all inflation driven.  Real fears by structural economists.  This is actually a good thing as economy has now finally gotten hot enough to force a raise in interest rates.  That will shorten money supply if even only for a while.

So now it is time in business to stop getting every dime you can and pouring it into growing your business.  Slow down a bit, turn your revenue stream into profits and get ready for the next upside so you can grow more, while taking on less debt.

I'm sure glad President Trump corrected this market but I'm confused.  The last quarter saw a GDP drop so are we now heating or cooling?

BS you Socialist. This correction is directly tied to the FED EQ pumping under Obama to keep the economy from imploding. Everyone on this forum new that QE, and artificially low interest rates were fueling the overvalued market, and we all knew it was going to correct as soon as the FED stopped pumping money into the stock market. The market reacted positively to less regulation, and lower taxation as a result of Trump being elected, and became even more overvalued. Everything was ripe for a correction. All it would take for a selloff was a hard downturn in quarterly GDP, a large currency devaluation, a geopolitical conflict, like Iran getting stupid and sinking tankers, or in this case a domestic issue like an impending political purge of government agencies. So no you ill informed Socialist, the correction was not caused by a politician hyping the greatness of the market and jobs numbers like Obama did his entire 8 years. It was an accumulation of QE, and artificially low interest rates that led to the over valuation of assets of companies publicly traded. You are such a simpleton, and a hack. I went all cash a while back, and I'm looking for bottom to get back in. If not this correction, then the next. You are really ignorant of basic economics. It's a wonder the bank even let you open a checking account.

The need to correct you endless lies is constant.

Q4 GDP growth was 2.6% which was less of a growth rate than the 3.2% in Q3.  So no, the GDP did not drop.  The growth rate was less than the previous quarter.

Didn't expect anything different. Take credit when up, blame Obama when down. Same old tired story. Going to run out of steam really quick. We'll see in the mid-terms.

Fresh, we blamed the FED for pumping QE into the market and holding interest rates low for overvaluing the market. If you had been here long enough to be involved in the discussion you would know that we consider the market it's own animal. The POTUS can have some effect on the economy, good or bad, and Congress and government agencies can strangle some sectors with regulation, or encourage growth. But for the most part, the market is controlled by events beyond the control of the POTUS, and is a product of FED policy, market based supply and demand capitalism, geopolitical events, and the monetary policy of central banks around the world. Read up, we are here to get you past blurting out talking points, and headed towards the goal of independent thought and analysis.

I never blamed Obama.

Current market downturn is directly tied to expected raise in interest rates.  Having an economy that is employing people at this rate, with wage growth, with companies growing, you are going to start to edge towards inflation.

Fed is going to take action.  They probably signaled a rate raise a bit more aggressively than they should have.  That run everybody into profit taking mode.  Capture your wins, take a step back, see who has businesses that are generating real cash, cash that can be turned into profit.  Invest in those.

Small dip.  Market will likely price this new interest rate reality in pretty quickly.  If companie are truly growing, as it seems we are, interest rate change will not stunt market growth much.

I am just waiting to see where the bottom is. Watching PE on a few stocks. May get back in if things are right. Hard to time that as an individual.

trump surrogates are blaming Obama. trump is the one that tied his balloon to the stock market. Now the trump apologists are blaming the Fed.......and of course, Obama. All of you do refer to a strong economy as proof that trump policies, tax cut in particular, are reaping benefits. Looks like a good case can be made for overheating an already robust economy with tax cuts may have been a poor strategy. I don't know enough to say 1 way or the other. Time will tell.

Maybe this isn't just a simple market correction? More than that, it's a transformation.

I'm blaming the auto-bots!

I'm pulling for the correction. Took a hit, but still got 2 years till retire. One time I'm pulling for trump cut to look good. I'm not optimistic, but don't know enough to change plans. Been lucky(last 7 years) with an aggressive strategy.

15% correction gets you to around 21500. I don't know if that's the bottom.

It was overvalued.  This correction already has it undervalued.

The market can send corrective notices to the Fed as well.  Fed leaks plans early.  Sometimes the market lets the fed know that is too much.  Try to get the fed to back off on the interest rate raise.

Seems the bears are losing today.  Not quite a bull.
