I'm pretty sure PGF will have all of the bracket play games covered, although not 100% sure. I'll actually be at the tournament during bracket play, so I'm less concerned with it.

Any word why Jazmyn Jackson (Mitty) hasn't played in the first few games for Grapettes? She's a star. Hope she's not hurt. In a few years Grapettes might be pushing for a top ten finish. Their 2014 pitcher Haley Snyder just committed to Stanford and Jackson and Pettis (2014's) both are headed to Cal.

So far I have been able to "watch" all three of my daughter's pool games on-line. It was a bit distracting while I was at the office, but so much better than waiting for the occasional text update from my husband. Now he is asking me how certain plays were scored, and I know the line-up before he does at the fields. Fabulous!

Interesting... On Friday in Oklahoma City, the Texas Glory was put into the losers bracket, dropping a 1-0 game to the SoCal Athletics, with Rachel Nasland guesting in the circle. In a rarity, the Glory, gets their second shot at her in less than five days, against The Next Level in the opening of bracket play at PGF. Scoreless after 1 1/2 at last glance....

Great pitching performance by Osorio (Corona Angels) going 7 innings giving up 3 hits and 5 Ks with 1 BB. Angels beat ECB by a score of 2-0 (two of ECB's hits came from future teammate Kallie Case). Sidenote, how did a 3-0 Pool Play team get matched up with a 2-1 Pool Play team in bracket play?

Its a blind draw, pool games are just practice games and don't count toward bracket play. I think only the top 4 teams are "protected" from playing each other. I believe you will see those teams on the top line and bottom lines of the two brackets.

In looking at teams playing in 18u PGF I see a total of 68 teams. Per website, 13 teams were invited back from last year based on their finish. In looking at qualifiers, there was a total of 31 births awarded. That is a total of 44 teams. How did the other 24 teams qualify? Just curious.

Interesting that neither Force nor Batbusters are throwing their Ace in this game. Tough loss for the Corona Angels but an absolutely outstanding performance by Osorio with 12 Ks in 8 innings. Didn't get to see Hoover throw her 17Ks yesterday against the TX Glory.

I'm glad Pogue broke out of her slump with the homerun of Osorio in the 1st. 1 for 9 through the first three games is a little bit of a rough start. As a pitcher you hate to lose when you throw a game like that

It was a monster hit and the only solid hit Osorio gave up. Her offense and defense just let her down on those two errors and all the runners LOB.

The other teams were simply invited to play. Some are good ol' boys, some got a free pass for staging a qualifier, some are from outside CA that may not have come otherwise, others are a bit of a mystery, probably connections or sponsorship of some type. SGV Velocity was invited, and their head coach hosted the college coach cocktail party. There appears to be many ways into the tournament.

I knew the first two years they hand selected a lot of teams to make sure the tournament got off the ground but, I thought that ended this year. From reading their website, it sounded like the freebie invites were over and all teams had to earn their way.

PGF vs ASA, including the way teams make their way to Huntington Beach has been discussed ad nauseum. One place you can read many opinions is on HeyBucket .
