PAC 10 fans, do you read the OC register?
they had an article about a great pitcher going to Stanford.
She not only pitched her team Norco to victory in the carew classic but also delivered the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.

Just another of the stars tolling anonymously in the IE. Her brother is the star running back and plays on the baseball team.

Her other brother is a lineman at ASU. Her two sisters (they are triplets) have even higher GPA's then her.

It's a fairly remarkable group of kids Todd and Lori have.

The PAC only has three teams in the TOP 8, in RPI.
And how does BAMA not drop even more.
It gets worse with Tenn coming in at 6th.
Can someone check the math...

1. Florida
2. U Dub
3. Bama
4. UCLA
5. Georgia
6. Tenn
7. Mizzo
8. Arizona

I bring up the RPIs because the PAC tournament is almost here.

One thing is for sure, the team which wins the PAC10 title will host regional and super regional games.

So, if any of the PAC teams can figure how to win on the ROAD;then, they will be the front runners for the PAC title.

Hi Caz,

The PAC tournament is a yearly event.
This year, it will start on May 15.
I believe it has 16 host cities ,around the nation - Regional sites.

Then it advances to 8 SuperRegional sites.
I believe this year, all of these games will be shown on TV.

And finally, 8 teams will make it to the PAC tournament and a National Champion will be crowned.

Note:
Just being funny.
Some in the West refer to the CWS and the post-tournament as the PAC10 tournament.

Insight on the PAC teams...

What others are saying...

"1. Arizona: It’ll be another solid year in Tucson, to be sure. A more potent offense will certainly help make up for the loss of Taryne Mowatt to graduation, but the odds of the Wildcats holding on to the top spot in these rankings are iffy at best.

2. Stanford: Ace pitcher Missy Penna may be Danielle Lawrie’s only competition for pitcher of the year in the conference. The loss to Cal was certainly surprising, though.

3. Washington: And just like that, the Huskies have turned into a pretty tough team to figure out. They couldn’t do anything against Penna, then banged around Arizona and ASU, and then got absolutely dominated by UCLA’s Megan Langenfeld. But is there anyone who doesn’t think they’ll have things figured out by the end of the year?

4. Arizona State: A powerful offense and solid No. 1 starter are going to make the Sun Devils a tough team come postseason time. But Hillary Bach’s 2.71 ERA is a little higher than what most of the conference’s elite hurlers usually post, and you have to wonder if she’s going to continue to get the kind of run support that has allowed her to go 19-3 thus far.

5. UCLA: The Bruins got two much-needed wins over the Huskies last weekend, which propels them right back into the middle of the Pac-10 race. A .500 record in this conference is never anything to be ashamed of.

6. California: The Bears are probably the team that marks the shift from the conference’s mega-elite to the merely decent. They don’t have the pitching to really be a dominant squad, but they still have a solid enough lineup to steal a few wins here and there. See their win over Stanford last weekend as proof.

7. Oregon State: Another less-than-impressive year for the Beavers, who have nobody in the top 20 in the conference for batting average and are dead last in the Pac-10 in team ERA.

8. Oregon: Ducks look like a lock for last place. Jen Salling is looking prett"y smart right about now.

This weekend's Arizonas vs the Bay should shed a lot of light on how the conference standings shake out. They've got to do some damage against Penna to remain viable contenders. Cal is capable of going 3-0 or 0-3 which makes their games very tough to predict.

UCLA...

The Arizona Wildcats have some momentum going.
And I think Indy brought this up ,at the start of the season.

The ASU game sparked something in the team.

"It wasn't just a rivalry series; something was different about the team, their demeanor and especially their desire to play.

"If we keep bringing the intensity that we brought to ASU to every game now, I think we're going to be unstoppable" UA third baseman Jenae Leles said.

Arizona's win over the Sun Devils (43-8, 4-3) showed that it could ....Now sitting atop the Pac-10, Arizona wants to take the approach that worked so well against ASU and apply it to every team in the conference.

The team certainly is anxious to get back on the field, especially for this weekend's series against No. 2 Stanford and No. 14 California.

The energy left over from the series against the Sun Devils has the Wildcats ready to take the field again...

"I think we're excited for this weekend," catcher Stacie Chambers said. "We're running off of energy from last weekend."

The level of play that the team achieved in the ASU series is what UA head coach Mike Candrea has been looking for all season.

From the very beginning, the entire coaching staff has been looking for the level of play that has become synonymous with Arizona softball.

"I liked the approach we had coming into ASU," Candrea said. "We fought harder. I think they were more in the moment that weekend. That's what you need to do every time no matter who you're playing."

For the Wildcats, it starts in practice.

Preparation for the weekend's games begins on Tuesday when Arizona returns to Hillenbrand Stadium to work on drills, study pitches and hit their location in the bullpen.

"If we don't have a good week of practice, then it's really going to be an off weekend," shortstop K'lee Arredondo said.

The Wildcats' concentration was apparent over the weekend, as the team seems to have finally found the extra effort and motivation.

Candrea has emphasized a sense of urgency for Arizona and with the season winding down, each game has implications on the Wildcats' playoff hopes.

"He pretty much said it's now or never.
If we don't do it now, we're not going to find ourselves in a post-season spot and that's only four weeks away," Arredondo said. "It's a sense of urgency."

What momentum? They've won 1 in a row and 2 out of the last 4.

So JW where are your famous predictions. Will the Cats pound Penna or bash the Bears?

Sorry UCLA, did not see your question.

But, you know what I was going to say.
After the folks read the comments about hitters being Buffoons, the Wildcats came in quick and fast....another home run performance.

Jenae smacked a 3 run HR ,in the first.
K Lee and Brittany had HR as well.

Has Arizona passed the 100 Home Run mark?

Stanford stayed away from Stacie.

At the end, bananas travel to ASU. Lets see if ASU can hit her.

With regards to Cal, it will be a good game.
Cal coach will pitch Arizona very careful.
She was impressed with the offensive numbers from the Cats.

ASU is also battling with Cal presently.

So, Arizona wins Saturday's game against Cal.
High scoring game.

For you UCLA:
Do the ucla coaches start Megan?
What is the issues with the coaches refusing to pitch Megan.

Going into Sunday's games, Arizona Wildcats are in first place in the PAC.

Very good win for the Wildcats over the Bears.

Arizona had good hitting success with the Bear pitchers.

Lets see if the Wildcats can have a sweep on Sunday.

U Dub still looks like a team with hitting issues.
U Dub....the Tenn of the West.
Tomorrow game should be interesting.

ASU decided NOT to pitch their ace.
Which makes you wonder?

We are calling it  PAC10 Title Weekend.

What are your PREDICTIONS for this weekend games?
The top 4 teams play eachother.

This is a BIG WEEKEND.

Does this weekend decide the PAC10  Title?

UCLA will pitch Megan against the Wildcats.
And she wants to improve from her last performance against the Cats.

U Dub then comes for a reunion with T.Wilson.
Lawrie will probably pitch one game.
The other game, U Dub will get blown out.

UCLA and U DUB must win all of its games , this weekend....

The PAC standings are:
Arizona 8-2.80036-9.800
Washington7-4.63634-7.829
UCLA7-4.63632-8.800
Arizona State6-4.60036-9.800
Stanford7-5.583

The HOME LOSS by ASU on Saturday was HUGE. Wrong move on the starting pitcher. ME would of beat Chinn. Should of started Bach on Saturday.

In today's Rankings by USA:

5  out of the   TOP 7 teams     are from the PAC10.

And  4   of these TOP teams will face eachother over the weekend.

Sounds like the CWS Tournament has already started.

Does this weekend decide the PAC10  Title?

It will go a long way because it's the Cats last chance to play at home.

UCLA will pitch Megan against the Wildcats.
And she wants to improve from her last performance against the Cats. She no-hit them for 5 1/3, not a lot of room for improvement.

U Dub then comes for a reunion with T.Wilson.
Lawrie will probably pitch one game.
The other game, U Dub will get blown out.
Lawrie will pitch both games and Arizona will try to get their first hit off her.

UCLA and U DUB must win all of its games , this weekend....Not at all. They both have 2 weekends of home games ahead. They can't afford to get swept but the real pressure is on Arizona.

The PAC standings are:
Arizona 8-2.80036-9.800
Washington7-4.63634-7.829
UCLA7-4.63632-8.800
Arizona State6-4.60036-9.800
Stanford7-5.583

Penna was ineffective all weekend. It makes more sense to me to start your #2 against their #2 but those things don't always work out. Arizona needs some help from ASU and then hope they can get them in Tempe.

They didn't hit that well in Oregon but the only 2 pitchers to beat them are Penna and Langenfeld. Charters must be the best kept secret in the league.

Two unexpected losses has Arizona back in the pac.
The PAC title is still up in the air.

New leader is UCLA, presently.

Nick,

I was shocked by U Dub play and win.
U Dub has not won on the road ,PAC, and after the beating from Tempe.
Wildcats failed to put the knock out-

Today's game will be emotional for the Wildcat players.

Lets see how they bounce back.

Talk about some BIG TIME games...Mid Week games.

You have U Dub against UCLA.
I have U Dub winning this game.
Why? Because they can not loss it. They gave away Sunday's game to Arizona in order to be ready for ucla.

>>>U Dub- Lawrie throws a No-No.  <<<<

Then the Duel in the Desert
Where asu has guareenteed not ONE victory ;but, TWO WINS.
Yes , GUAREENTED TWO GAMES.

These two games will be SOLD OUT.
And UofA fans will be there in bus loads. Road Trip.
This is one of the most heated rivalry..from the players to the fans.
It is always personnel.

Prediction: Arizona Wildcats   (Bombs Away)

>>> Arizona Wildcats are  in FIRST PLACE - PAC10.

The Race to the PAC10 Title is taking a back seat.

This weekend will have significant impact on the Super Regional decisions.

What is at Stake ?.....are Super Regional

a)  Wins by U Dub and they receive a No.2  Seed and hosting a Super Regional.
>>  Easy Win on Friday.....Will HOST regional and super regional.

b)  Wins by ucla and they receive a No.3  Seed and hosting a Super Regional.
>>  Easy win. Bouncing back from the No Hitter against Lawrie.
Will host regional and super regional.

c)  Wins by Arizona and they receive a No.5 Seed and hosting a Super Regional.
>>Rain out ,5/1.   No make up game.
Will host regional and super regional.

d)  The main focus will be Asu -vs- Stanford.
A sweep and asu gets host a super regional.
>> ASU gets shut out by Missy.
Will not host regional. Get shipped out.
To get to the CWS, they will have to do it on the road.

If things play out ,these maybe the initial match-up for the CWS.
Gators vs Okla
U Dub vs Michigan
ulca  vs Georgia
Bama   vs  Arizona

(**Stanford ,NW ,ASU are the wildcards.)
