WOWWWW, interesting.  There's some bi-polar voting with Arizona for them to get 5 first place votes and end up only in 2nd.

Arizona has better pitching and hitting. They lose only Young's experience and hitting, but I believe  one or more of the incoming freshman will step up.  Palomino returns to protect Maugua. Defense will be the key.  If they can find a way not to lose via a defensive play, I believe they will go far this year.

Nobody mentions the Pac12 anymore lol...but just read that the Bruins hit 6 home runs in their first 2 games of the year versus South Dakota and San Diego St, with their redshirt freshman pitcher Rachel Garcia hitting one of them plus another hit as well.

Much more noteworthy IMO is Maggie balint striking out 11 in 6 IP vs. Fresno

If it's Oregon, I don't really consider them contenders, ever, due to their overhype and underperformance when it counts.

A man who knows what the hell he is talking about and has seen Maggie and the gal from Crown Point has said that Balint has more K power than the Hoosier and the sophomore.

Yes I know, however, I don't really like the ducks![biggrin]  I DID like them when they had Samantha Pappas, but man, they underperform so badly at season's end...lost interest.

Odd that you should see things that way.  Sam Pappas' senior year was the first of the post season chokes.  It was obvious to close observers, not fans, but close observers that trouble was brewing as the season came down the stretch.

Precisely, I had high hopes for them during those years but saw the writing on the wall...and it played out.  Sam Pappas was a baller though!

That's gonna be tough, PAC 12 did so well overall. Surely alot of the teams have frosh who made big contributions. Mulipola went 7 for 13 (.538) with 3 walks, 1 2b, 1 hr, and 1.434 OBS.

Alvelo wins over Auburn and OKlahoma.  I think she should be pitcher-of-the-week.  Did any other Pac 12 pitcher win a big game over a top-rated opponent?

No

Very similar to Washington's opening weekend last year

When all these awards and statistics are concerned, the competition in each case should be seriously considered.
And, will the Pac-12 ever win another national championship? Ever? I can't see the least indication that they will. Sad.

If Washington can end the season as healthy as they are now, they have as good of a shot as anyone.

I hope so. But clutch hitting (or, lack of same) and fielding must be strengthened for us to be in elite company. And, can one dominating pitcher hold serve today like they did 10 years ago? We'll see.

Alright, but who are these frosh getting all their hits off of? There IS a difference in the quality of pitchers in softball these days. All statistics are not equal.

Your first point is a given. So do you have an opinion for the players of the week?

Stoner idiocy out of L.A. again.

How can the only freshman who is a nominee for Player/Pitcher of the Week not be FOW?

What a game by Meagan Prince to hand UCLA its first loss.

UCLA has the pitching this year, though

It looks like Rachel Garcia is a super stud from the circle and the batters box.
