Where would Ole Miss rank among the SEC's 13 facilities?
What would your ranking be?

1. LSU
2. Alabama
3. Mizzou
4. Kentucky
5. South Carolina
6. Auburn
7. Georgia
8. Tennessee
9. Mississippi State
10. Florida
11. Arkansas
12. Ole Miss
13. Texas A&M (new stadium coming)

UM's place is small, but pretty nice, huge scoreboard / screen.  Hand me down from baseball.

Stadium needs work to contend in the SEC.  Coach Smith is to into himself to think about the needs of the program. He knows softball; no doubt. He has turned the program around but he is self-serving and a showboat.  He is like that umpire that has to be seen.   It will be interesting to see if their run continues.  I do love watching Lee pitch. In my opinion, this is one of the toughest regionals.  Also, heard they oversold tickets by about 700.  That should be interesting and maybe help get a plan in the works for a larger stadium.

Seriously, always gotta have a hater. In fact, you had to register just to make that comment. So you think Smith thinks so much of himself that he's not interested in getting a nicer stadium. He doesn't care about the needs of the program? How does that even make sense to you? Softball has never had a fan base there, so they never needed a better/bigger place. I'm sure getting the regional there will push the envelope as far as facilities goes.

Did not join just to comment on this thread, but thanks for the welcome.  I gave Smith the props for turning the program around and the need for a bigger stadium; if you read my post. Does not change my opinion that he likes to be seen.

No, UM, PC way to name Ole Miss now is University of MS (UM). Mizzous stadium is new and very nice, just stuck at Mizzou. Ole Miss facilities are nice, just not a lot seating. I have heard they are putting temporary stands etc for this weekends event.
Not getting into the pissing match started by the other 2 although I agree with both on most points. If Smith could build a stadium to match his ego it'd make Everest seem insignificant.

No pissing match at all.  You and I just have seen a different side to Smith than perhaps others have. Your reference to size is spot on.

"Coach Smith is too into himself to think about the needs of the program."

That implies to me that you think he cares too much about himself to realize that his program needs and maybe deserves a better venue. Never meant to sound like a pissing match, just saying that I think that line of thinking is silly.

First inning isn't over yet, and ASU leads UNC 5-3

One out, bottom 1 for Sun Devils

Can someone comment on the rule about two runners occupying the same base?  ASU batter hit it back to the pitcher, who caught the ASU runner on 3d in a rundown.  Runner made it back to 3d safely, but the runner from second was already occupying that base.  I thought one of them should be called out at that point.  Eventually NC retired the batter, who attempted to take second after the original runner from 2d had returned to it.

I sure see some air with the UNC pitcher.

One of them was out if they occupied 3rd at the same time.

Thanks, Bama.  I decided to actually look it up (p. 155).  The defense has to actually tag the runner from second to make the out.

Tecnically not correct but I was dumbfounded that the catcher was standing right at the bag and made no attempt to tag the runner

Correct. Technically the only way a runner can be out without a tag in a case like this is if the trailing runner passes the lead runner.

Gonna dip my big toe into this conversation without checking the rule book...

Lead runner (or first to the base) is legal occupant. Second runner may be tagged for an out.

From memory, what isn't covered is when the ball is returned to the circle with both on same base. Technically, the second runner could return to previous base in timely fashion. If time is not out, a play could be made on that runner.

What I don't know is if an umpire mistakenly (in my opinion) kills play when the ball is thrown to the pitcher, shouldn't that free the runner to return to previous base without penalty.

I attended a luncheon with Ole Miss AD Ross Bjork and he was telling us that there are several improvements planned for the near future (2019?)  Including extending the seating past the dugouts and extending the outfield area to behind right field.  With the success of the team the past 2 years has probably accelerated that (2018?).
