Tell Jay Clarke that.

I see it as maybe ML realizing that she might not be the heir to the throne anymore.

IF she were to leave i would absolutely agree with that, but I think anyone with half a brain knows the only current staffer beside PG who can run a program is ML. There is no question. Hopefully PG makes it clear to ML, or we may be in a world of hurt come next season.

We dont know if Lombardi will be a good head coach or not. If Lombardi is a good coach it won't matter. If she's not, she'll eventually fail in either job. Providing no one leaves, I would argue that White left OR in pretty darn good shape,

I think ML was hoping to someday take over at OU but I don't think she's getting that feeling from PG. Maybe with son on staff could have something to do with this?

Yikes.... I hope that 249 doesn't mean that, in fact, it is Gasso's son

I'd say this is her shot for the big time, as she has been mentored and molded by Gasso for 20 years.  She will not fail.

My point is... if you use the term 'getting warm' when mentioning Lombardi, that means, by definition, that it is NOT her

A very reliable source also says she had the Texas job until White came in the picture in the final moments, crazy now she may be at Oregon 😳

That post was a criticism of the wording in a single post .... not on the veracity of those saying Lombardi was at the Jaqua and checking out properties

If THAT keeps the pitching core together and the catcher, then I will send Lisa Peterson and the new coach a package of honeybells!

. Keeping the pitchers will be key, you would think they would want to work with Lombardi. Oregon lose there whole infield? I agree need to keep the catcher there.

I've seen one report that Missy has accepted the Ducks job. Don't know if it's true; we'll see. As a Sooners fan, I selfishly want her to stay at OU. But as a fan of Lombardi – both as a coach and a person – it's my hope that the UO job is hers if she wants it.

Castiglione -- who went to same HS as my DD BTW -- must LOVE the idea of putting an assistant softball coach over 200K a year after he rocketed the pay scale nationally by giving her 185

Very selfish if true.  It's not like she's considering a lateral career move.

No difference when schools/coaches block SA’s from reaching out to schools when they ask for a release. It’s about time a coach is blocked from doing something they want to do.

It would seem odd that, if they let her visit Eugene, that there is ANY way they are keeping her in Oklahoma other than lifting her money, or sending JT to a Malaysian prison

Wouldn't it be crazy if she leveraged Oklahoma twice in a month, a year after getting 185K?

You can't be serious.  Hardly the same thing.

And, I didn't understand that OU would be "blocking" her from taking a head coaching job; but, instead, they are trying to "bribe/entice" her into staying as an assistant coach.

SA’s sometimes(many times?) leave to find a larger scholarship or more playing time(their form of a paycheck). A coach leaving for a larger salary isn’t any different IMO.

I don’t think there is a head coaching job in her future at OU. The job will be passed to her son. It will be a great story for OU when it happens.

How is it "very selfish" for OU or any other school to offer a valued coach more money to try to keep her? Especially a coach like Lombardi who is poised to take over a program like OU in just a few years?
