These Westwood acolytes just drooling over the excellent Faraimo and UCLA.

But what Dail has done tonight against this mature UCLA lineup is exponentially more impressive

This is one of the most fun games I’ve watched in a long time. Dail is dealing right now. UCLA looking off balance in the box.

I want to add this...  Does anyone think Dail could have done that...
without all the work ML has been doing with her...

ML is a great PC.

Dail has developed really nicely under ML. She has shown some great stuff this year, its unfortunate she doesn't have anyone behind her to help her out.

Oh please, UCLA ‘number 2’ is a stud. Plus, RG gives up runs too, it’s not like her ERA is 0!

Good game to Oregon no matter who was pitching for UCLA. JD quieted UCLA’s bats just enough and got the W, something other Pac-12 teams couldn’t do so far this season!

You see the apprentice and you know the message the opposing coach is sending

Even more gratifying to win those games

Exactly! Watching UCLA at the beginning of the season to now, I’m really curious how they’d play against OU. They pretty much owned OU, but UCLA looks different to me lately.

Dail's ERA is about .5 higher than last year at VT, both when factoring in conference games and not. Her era in the pac is more than 2 pts higher than it was last year in the acc (going into the Oregon game).

She has started to cut down on walks/hbp, though. She had .827/ip at vt and has .688/ip so far this year. As to whether that is due to any particular influence from Lombardi or just due to more experience, I don't know.

She had a nice outing today for sure and got enough run support to get the win.

Obviously UCLA didn't take Oregon seriously when they went with Faraimo and, Oregon took advantage of that. While Dail had a nice outing it was most certainly a one-off where a whole lot of things had to fall into place...and they did. Great win for Oregon & Dail.

The most interesting back story to this goes back 1 year. Former Coaches Thomas & Tincher, previously with Va Tech, should be heading into permanent exile. Considering what the new Staff @ Tech has accomplished this year with virtually the same roster is nothing short of amazing. Eberle is probably the best Pitcher in the ACC right now. Rochard, their #2 was a Ghost last year while Dail @ Tech was a monster liability every time she stepped into the Circle.

I've watched Dail since during High School. She is pretty much the same Pitcher...still slings the ball all over the stadium, way too many Walks, hits too many batters and still strikes out lot of batters. The only thing that has changed is how she is being coached up. Lombardi has no choice but to pitch her and I'm sure it scares the living crap out of her too. Dail is fun to watch but I bet Lombardi covers one eye after every pitch call.

UCLA is the best team in the Country right now. Kudos to Oregon for an awesome win.

Now we can all get our Eye Patches out for the next 2 games.
