There really are a few all out haters for Ole Miss. They had a great year last year for an uprising program. Don't be salty!

I remember when OU whacked them in the Norman regional. Ole Miss is not there.

Roster down to 23. Is that it or will there be a final cut before season officially starts?

I normally try and nab a screenshot of the rosters as they come out before cuts, but this year I was not able to do so. Does anyone have the names of all the players cut?

Man, oh well the roster is cut down... Maybe players will have to produce so they won’t have to be cut... It’s a business people and kids in 8th grade need to start understanding it.
If they want to commit early they need to produce....

Tell that to the coaches who gather in groups of 20 to 30 to drool and fight over the 8th grade talent. Woo them to their campuses for multiple visits over 4 years, tell them how great they are and how they will take their team to the wcws title.

Outfielder Kennedy Kline and pitcher Krista Jacobs weren't cut but they both transferred to TX State in the Sunbelt Conference and will be eligible to play this spring.

TxProud technically you are correct, neither were cut, however both were told (and should have been able to see the writing on the wall) that if they stayed at Ole Miss they would continue to ride the pine.... So both players "chose" to leave. Kennedy after freshman year and Krista after this last fall.

Thanks for the clarification.

Is it safe to assume that Jacobs' transfer had something to do with the arrival of Finney? Any insight on how big a role Finney will play in the circle and at the plate this year?

One would think with the new scholarship rules now in place for the Power 5 Conferences, some of these large roster sizes will start to get a bit smaller each Fall. Now, there are still a fair amount of girls willing to seize the oppt. at a guaranteed roster spot or, be content to just "wear the jersey".  However, with the guaranteed scholarships one would think things might change. Think about it, Candrea @ AZ has 6 2020s committed...does anyone really believe there is enough money for all 6 once they arrive...if they all arrive on campus?? Chances are all 6 will tell you they got a full ride. Coaches will be more judged on wins/losses vs most anything else unless something egregious happens with a student/athlete that gets reported & investigated. ie: Mizzou.  While I'm sure there are some very legitimate things that cross the line between programs & players, I would think most issues are related to parents & kids complaining about mostly 2 things: playing time & practice being too hard.
*EVERY kid thinks she should be starting, cries home to mommy, mommy calls coach, coach hangs up, mommy gets upset, so on, so on.
*EVERY kid thinks because they played BIG TIME travel ball they understand how a college program is run AND, think the coach really likes them. 99% of kids can't begin to understand how college practices are organized so when they get there the same cycle begins: cries home to mommy etc...
The positive side to all this is the Mid Majors will start to get better athletes, programs will improve & there will be better softball across the board. We have seen this cycle full force in Basketball

What, specfically, was something "egregious" at Mizzou?

Sunflower seeds, egomania plus asshattery  could be interpreted as egregious.

Don't know that there was. The point was unless there are legit complaints filed by players/parents which are serious enough to warrant the full blown investigations like what happened at Mizzou, most of the stuff isn't worth talking about. That said, when your 2 of your better players leave at the same time, somethings going on. EE is a type A, aggressive coach who is also like to win. I'm sure he has ruffled some feathers & bruised some egos over time. Enough so the program got looked into anyway.

I really enjoyed watching many of their games last year and the aggressive style of play. I also liked watching the talented freshmen he had on the team. Was excited to see they were coming to Florida this coming week to play. I went to their roster and saw last years shortstop is not listed? She was really good. Is she hurt? Transferring? Looks like they had to move their 3rd baseman to play shortstop.

Anyone have an update on the player who left in an ambulance in yesterday's game vs UT Martin? Didn't seem to be a typical on-field injury and her teammates were pretty shaken up. Also, very cool scene when both teams came together in the middle of the game for a prayer.

I don't know what happened, but Ole Miss softball tweeted late last night that she was released from the hospital.
