Just think if teachers did that in the classroom to make kids learn math. Maybe some coach should sit in a bunker on the golf course and yell at Tiger when he screws up. That will do it.

I think it is soft to take that crap and then to think it works.

Maybe if math teachers did that today's kids wouldn't be so far behind the rest of the world.

Hopefully Mowatt doesn't get caught making disparaging remarks about her pitchers at Ole Miss on national TV. I'm sure she has grown as a person since the Alabama incident, but if Mike Smith is anything like what is suggested then it's likely that's the version of her he was aiming to hire.

Oh I see, CLEVER.  A rebirth of the "garden tool" joke just for fun huh?  I guess at least the "garden tool" isn't coaching in the SEC and is in the Big XII.  Maybe we could get a Ole Miss vs. OSU match-up somewhere down the line just for fun.  LOL.

What's the old saying?

Are you trying to convince us or yourself?

Best of luck to the girls who were over recruited and signed with Mike Smith. The roster is going to balloon to 35-plus next year. What a joke

I guess that would depend on which of the 35 you are. I can guess where you think you fit in.

In this day and age if you sign with a program that carries 20+ players, that is your decision. You should know by the amount of money you are given and the players level of talent how much playing time you should be expecting. If a player doesn't have someone telling them that, their travel coach/parent isn't doing their job.

Easy there TD.  We all know a lot of people that make these mistakes.  For a fairly straightforward deal it seems to still have enough pitfalls to trap quite a lot of pretty smart folks.

It's pretty straight forward.  They may be smart folks, but they just aren't looking at the situation objectively.  If a program has over 20 players and you aren't getting more than 50%, I would not count on playing much, it's just common sense. I'm not saying it can't happen, but if they aren't investing much in you, they aren't expecting much out of you.  Business 101.

TD don't blame the coach for signing that many players. Players and travel ball coaches have fault in the recruiting process. Also, the players needs to learn how to compete and not everything is given. So what if you aren't given that 50% or so. If the player competes and produces will little money given coaches will find a way to give more money. If not then enjoy the experience that you are given.

The roster won't be that big.  Rumor from up North is cuts are already happening.  5 or 6 girls already cut.  Smith recruited 8 to 10 2016's too.  He will get them there and the end of next Fall cut them in half too.

Dangle the carrot and they will come.  Then once they get there, chop them off at the knees and send them home......

Sorry - let me clarify...I am not blaming the coach. A player should know what type of program they are signing up for. If there are surprises, the player didn't do their homework.

Smith is a great "salesman", he has the ability to get these kids to commit by the bushel. We shall see how he handles the roster situation but to say parents should have done their homework. This is only his 2nd year and as far as using McNeese or CBU as a reference, Ole Miss is a completely different situation- SEC, major football, and amenities that those 2 others don`t have. Time will tell if he can keep the ship sailing. I know I would stay away, not worth the gamble

He's cleared house with last year's staff. Expect the same with players too. The parents are not a fan of his drama and bullish tactics either. Honeymoon phase over!

He's already told those girls there options. "Cuts" have been made. Won't be on team but will keep scholarship for the spring. My roommates went through the same crap last year!

With only 12 full scholarships to offer, how can that be with the huge roster ? Percentages must be minimal per player. Are these players that willing to accept a position on a team that they are doing it for peanuts?

Stretch,

There are A LOT of kids who get very little money to play at most colleges. They are basically practice bodies. Doesn't make any sense to me but whatever. You want to know what a clay thinks of you and your ability see how much they offer.
