please explain why coach Schumanns suspension wasn't publicized, explained or why kids and parents haven't been told why he suddenly reappeared such bs that they think they can keep his suspension hidden. team did better with him gone

Its obvious that the AD at Ole Miss let that coaching staff get away with anything as long as they are competing in SEC for once.

Isn't that what you're doing with your post? Why did you create your account? It's a valid question. It sounds like you're the hater.

This thread will get real interesting in a few weeks, when some of you parents get your wish and your DD is no longer playing for this guy - or Ole Miss. Be careful what you wish for.

I remember reading a newspaper article about bashing his girls at mcneese. Then emily G quit or got kicked off. Granted this team is doing a lot better, but I've heard, rumors only, that he's not the most welcoming coach and not easy to play for.

whats funny is that when you raise a issue about a coach you get called a "hater" by some people. anyone who has a daughter who gets love from the coach says that all girls who don't like the coach must be to soft or lazy or cant make grades ect. they say the coach is to "tough" for some girls. That's what I get when I point out FACTS. the coaches and their posse crap on anyone who calls them out. I don't know the coach at ole Miss but where theres smoke there is fire. When its not just one or two girls but is a history of problems its on the coach. it sounds like he already is running off some girls who came to play at OM.  It sucks to have to choose between putting up with a jerk and leaving your school. I know a girl at another school who has the same exact  problem she loves her school but hates her coach. I used to not care and just wanted the best players to commit but now I know what a bad situation can do to a young college kid it ruins their experience.

I assume the season ends and scholarship renewals either go out or nah.

Yes, MadDogsDad. I was referring to scholarship renewal. It will be interesting to see how much "cleaning house" they do. They've had a better season than they have in a long time, but how many of those girls want to stay and play for him and how many does he want to let go? I'm sure there's bound to be some of each. I know it's been said somewhere on here that every single player on the team hates playing for him, but I'm guessing that's a bit exaggerated. Anyone know what the players he recruits think about playing for him? Everyone at Ole Miss was just kinda stuck with him and didn't get to make that choice.

I guarantee Emily G didn't get kicked off the team. She was by far the best pitcher on the team. But with 2 years of eligibility, she decided enough was enough. The girls that stayed on the team have their reasons but most of them have taken a lot of abuse from Smith and his "posse". It will be interesting as to who decides to stay and play for those jokers not whose scholarships he renews.

It's too bad coaches get so much leeway as a new hire and student-athletes get the shaft and to top it off, NCAA and school make it difficult to transfer.

Having your scholarship waved in your face and have no idea where your going to school next year is ridiculous abuse of power. NCAA broke system and has become like a slave owner relationship. Schumanns verbal abuse shouldn't be tolerated hence probably why he was suspended

not to beat a dead horse but how is smith abussive to his players? the only thing ive read with some contact to the staff is from bucketman. is it smith thats the problem or schumann?

Granted this team is doing a lot better? Define a lot better? 3 more SEC wins than last year so far doesn't sound like a lot better.

By most measures a 150% improvement is definitely "a lot better".

I'm hoping for a 150% raise this year.

I think they're guaranteed a winning season too. I don't think that's happened in a long time.

Ole Miss. dropped in the ranking. It looks like they should have tried to get at least one more game in against Louisville. Beating ranked teams gets you in the tournament.

There is no single game that could vault them the 15 RPI spots they desperately need to hop

No but more wins with ranked teams helps when you're on the bubble for selection.

Ole miss had already beat them once. You don't think they tried to get more in?

You don't think Louisville tried?

What is your conspiracy theory??

You are correct. Louisville tried. No conspiracy theory here. Ole Miss doesn't have the depth in pitching. Its not rocket science. More wins with ranked teams help.

Spoke with a parent of a 2016 commit last week, and she was worried about the large size of smiths recruiting classes. Anyone know how many kids are coming in and how many are graduating?

It can't be that odd that a new coach would bring in a large first class or two, especially with the fact that it's an Ole Miss team that's never been known as a team filled with lots of talent.

Don't know who the 'sea queen' is, but it sounds like you are implying she isn't a good sign? Unfortunately there's not a lot of 'SEC' level talent available to sign during their senior year. Most of them have been committed for several years already.

Smith has his axe sharpened. How many of the 22 he started with will be left to deal with his BS next fall? I say 7 is the magic number.

According to Bucketman, who obviously has an insiders point of view, sounds like lots of players will be asking for releases on their own. Maybe he won't have to worry about cutting anyone.

It was funny to hear the ESPN announcers talk about how much he was a "breath of fresh air" and how upbeat and supportive of his players he is. Something about how much fun he is to be around. ....from what I read and hear....lots different. Maybe SEC Network is pulling the company line and trying to get 12 teams in NCAA??
